《Chasing Royalty》Chapter 38

The nerve!
The nerve!
THE NERVE!!!
I can't! I... Ugh!!!
"Explain."
I said, trying to keep the very little patience I have left.
"We had to do it, sis. We can't contact you these past days just to ask because it's far too risky. So, we decided to ask mom and dad."
"Why you..." I forced myself to stop.
I took a deep breath. Relax. Deep breaths.
I haven't slept throughout the duration of the whole flight just like what happened months ago. But the reasons this time are different. I was far too emotional to even think about sleep, or to even fall asleep. My brothers forged my signature in order to sell the land I treasured the most. It's a big deal for me to say the least.
The land that was given to me by our parents when I was only six. That land is my sanctuary. My secret place. My paradise. I mean, how could they do this to me? Whatever reason they have, it's unacceptable. And I won't accept it.
I was fidgeting the whole four hours, wanting to call my brothers but no luck, I can't reach them. I had to "borrow" Nate's computer just to send an email to my brothers regarding the property they just sold. My property to be precise.
I can't believe it. I want to cry. I want to throw everything I see. I want to strangle those two brothers of mine. I even want to punch Nate in the face. His questions and statements have put me on edge earlier. And there he was sleeping like a baby, not even noticing I took his laptop, while I was here getting out of my mind with nervousness and anxiety.
After landing, which felt like forever, Nate and I immediately went to the place where we will be staying. He said that even before he purchased the property, he already owned a house in Switzerland. Truth be told I don't really care about that. The only thing I thought upon looking at the alleged house was that his house wouldn't pass on as just any houses in my book, his is already a mansion. Almost similar to what his mother owns back in New York.
The room he told me I will be staying in was next to his, so I doubt that it was the guest room.

It was a suite and it was very sweet because it was huge. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi in it, and it is also connected to the walk-in closet. A small study was at the far end of the room. It made me forget about my current situation until Nate made a comment about the room being "worthy of a princess."
I narrowed my eyes at him. Even though it could be a joke, I could really sense the double meaning behind that statement. But before I could say anything back, he was already walking out the room telling me that he has some appointments and that I should just make myself comfortable, "lie back and feel at home".
Funny. I am home.
And that gave me the time to have a video chat with my brothers. After making sure that my boss would not be coming back soon, I made my way to his room and took, I mean "borrowed" his laptop, which surprised me because it was just sitting on his desk. I brought it my room and luckily reached my brothers on first attempt.
Of course, before we got to the real conversation, we had to make sure that no one can trace the exchange of message. It took a while, so I was able to calm down a bit.
"And why would mom and dad agree to sell my land?" I asked as I try to keep my temper at bay.
"He said that since we can't contact you, then maybe it's okay," Cedric answered, looking at his brother for help.
"They gave that land to me as a present for my sixth birthday because they know how much I enjoyed staying there. Why the hell would they think that I would be okay with selling it?" I was really trying to not lash out every time my brothers answer my questions.
"Dad also said that it would help your image because this will make the investors see the potential in you. They would not doubt you when it comes to making decisions for the company," Luca supplied and gave me a smile. I wasn't sure what to make of that smile because it appeared to be a nervous one and an encouraging one at the same time.

"My image," I breathed out. "My reputation has nothing to do with selling my property. And people loved me because they know that I genuinely help others and that I cared about nature too much. My reputation as an environmentalist will be ruined. I don't want those Land developing companies touch my property and turn into some sort of urban habitat."
"Yet you chose to work in a Land Development Corporation," my brothers said in unison, pointing out the painful truth.
They received a glare in return. I hate to admit it but even though my brothers are idiots sometimes, their mouths could really sprout some truth. And I wouldn't say this out loud, but they are right.
"Sis," Luca started, "Even if the Greenfields would turn into some hotel, condo, restaurant or whatever, those things could benefit the people, our people."
"How?"
"Uhh..." he looked at Cedric, this time like he's the one asking for help.
"They could... they could... feel close to us because the castle is not far."
"Yeah, that's right."
Two against one, huh? Fine. Challenge accepted.
"Oh to make them feel close, huh? What about the threats?"
Silence
"We are famous and incredibly wealthy but that's not the only thing we gained from being royals, we also gained some enemies. And if a terrorist, or an enemy, or let's say someone who just envies us, could disguise himself a tourist or just a vacationer, what better way to take out the royals?"
Silence. At least my brothers know how to keep quiet when I'm pointing out possibilities.
"All they have to do is check in a room, facing the castle and making sure that his sniper won't be detected. Then use the said sniper to shoot the princess who was standing outside the balcony, considering that I always want to stay on the balcony," I made a finger-gun and pointed it at my head. "Bang. The heir to the throne is dead." I pointed my finger at my brothers. "Bang! Bang! the Winzenried twins found dead."
Finishing my point, I folded my arms on my chest. I look at my brothers disapprovingly while shaking my head.
"And also, don't forget that there is also an order in which every seventh grade in every school in Switzerland should have a Field Trip at the palace which happens annually, and which happens to be my idea. It was my way of saying that we are open to our people."
I both happy and not happy with this conversation. I may be winning the battle of reasons, which makes me happy, but it also means that with this argument, we are going nowhere to finding a solution to my problem.
They hung their heads in the air and look at each other. My brothers know that I have a point because they were avoiding eye contact with me. Which is at least, they're smart enough to keep their mouth shut and not even look at me.
I was beyond angry, but my anger subsided the moment I realized that my anger will not do any good to the situation.
My land. My sanctuary is about to be taken away from me. And here I am, arguing with my brothers instead of formulating a plan.
No one is even allowed to step on those fields, much more have the land. I'm disappointed.
"It's mine. That place is my only sanctuary. I want it back. And you two will make it happen." I said, sternly.
They raised their heads and look at me.
"How?" Cedric asked which made me cringed.
Right, how? Let me think.
If the deed has already been sent to Nate, then it's already with him. Like it's in his room right now.
My mind is working on overdrive trying to formulate a plan.
"Sis..."
"Shhh... just a sec..."
"She looks like she's planning something." I heard them say.
"Is that how we look when we plan something really cool?"
"Maybe."
I don't know how long I was thinking but I finally managed to plan something in my head.
I smiled. I'm going to need my brothers' help on this one.
"She looked like she was trying to poop."
That comment immediately melted my smile. I glared at them before giving a grin.
"Sis, you do know that you look like Sadako, right?" Cedric said. "If Sadako has brown curls, that is."
Luca laughed nervously before changing the subject, "So any plans?"
"Phone call."
