《Chasing Royalty》Chapter 30

I guess I was back on dreamland the moment I saw the lanterns around me. Instead of me singing, I can hear my voice on the background singing Rapunzel's part on "I See the Light".
🎼🎶All at once everything is different🎵
🎶Now that I see you🎵
It's weird hearing my voice yet I'm not even singing. And it's weirder that I'm following my own voice. I finally saw myself standing about twenty feet away from the guy who made this dream.
I stood there, watching myself, waiting for the scene to unfold. But as I was about to see the face of the man, the lanterns suddenly decided to cover my line of vision, preventing me from seeing the man.
I tried walking towards them (or is it us?) but failed. My feet are somehow frozen and glued to the ground. I stared helplessly at the man to try and make out his face, but my vision became blurry. It was like I'm trying to take a picture but somehow can't focus the lens on my camera. I transferred my sight to the singing me and found that I am clearly visible.
So, I watched. This is just a dream, anyway. Sooner or later, I could control this.
Or you could wake up.
My subconscious pointed out painfully. If I wake up, I would will myself to dream something like this again.
There's a great chance of not being able to continue this dream once you wake up.
Shut up, Subconscious!
I hated it so much when my subconscious has a point.
I think it is the rational part of me weighing down the different possibilities of life.
From where I am standing, the me, still can't see the guy because of the floating lanterns. I didn't realize that the guy was holding three lanterns in front of him. Obviously making the lanterns cover his face.
Then I heard it. I heard his voice. He started to sing Flynn Ryder's part while walking towards me, I mean the me who was in front of him.
All those days chasing down a daydream
All those years living in a blur
All that time never truly seeing
Things, the way they were
Wait a sec...
That voice.
I've heard it before.
It sounded familiar somehow, but I can't pinpoint where and when I heard it. Or even who have that voice.
Now she's here shining in the starlight
Now, she's here suddenly I know

If she's here it's crystal clear
I'm where I meant to go
He was now standing in front of me. He let the lanterns go to reveal his face and I saw my eyes went wide with either from shock or fascination, I'm not sure.
What the heck is happening? I think I should also know who that person is.
I suddenly felt the ground moving beneath me, rumbling under my feet. I looked down and saw that the earth I'm standing on is crumbling. When I tried to move, the earth immediately collapsed, and I fell helplessly. The last thing I saw was the guy, whoever it was, had come closer and was touching my face and then I was succumbed into the pit of darkness.
My head hit something hard and the next thing I knew, I was already kissing the floor again. I lifted my head a little bit and was blinded by the lights.
"Ugh!"
"What are you doing?" I heard Jessica's voice beside me.
"Kissing the floor, obviously." I muttered. I can't believe Jessica ruined my dream again. I was about to see the face of the man from my dream.
Yeah, right!
"Thanks to me, of course. It's five, by the way. I have to go to A-hole's charity event and I need to drop you off at Nathaniel's gala."
"Five?"
"Yes. And you weren't even in the slightest way of being ready."
"You mean I slept all day?" I asked, letting the floor kiss back my cheek.
"Hell yeah! I told you, you were up all night last night. Because if you weren't, you wouldn't have slept all day."
I sat up and immediately felt the headache. "Did you throw me out of my bed?"
"Do I even really need to answer that question? Yes, I did."
I saw her face and realized that she already managed to pull off an innocent look for the charity. She was already in her simple white dress which was paired off with a green leathered jacket. She was barefoot, but I think she'll wear her white stiletto to complete the whole look.
"Come on, wash your face so we could start getting yourself ready."
"Why?" I frowned. "Nate's gala is not until 7?"
"Because A-hole's charity is at 6," she said like it should have been obvious. "And I'm dropping you off at Nate's place because if you still remember, we're only using my car. Unless of course you want to take a bus."

"Fine." I conceded and reluctantly went to the bathroom to wash my face.
I heard "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" blaring on my speakers and concluded that Jessica will enjoy putting makeup on my face.
I went out of the bathroom and saw a red dress lying on my bed. My table is already filled with makeup products.
"Come on, take a seat so we could get this over with," she said it like it's a burden, but the giggle on the end says otherwise. She patted the chair in front of her, and I sighed before taking a seat.
I wasn't really fond of putting makeup because I really prefer natural looks. That and the fact that I can't do it myself.
Jessica also prefers the natural look, but she enjoys putting makeup as well. And she's really good at it.
I don't really like it when people put too much makeup, especially on me. But I know when it comes to this, Jessica will never disappoint.
And she didn't. Looking my reflection on the mirror, I can say that I look gorgeous.
She's really amazing.
I heard a wolf-whistle from Jessica before she yelled, "You look gorgeous! I am so amazing!"
I really think we were sisters before we were reincarnated into this life.
I put on the red dress and made a twirl in front of the mirror.
Wow. And wow.
Wow, because I look really good.
And wow, because this is the first time that I get to admire myself like this.
Jessica was already on her way outside when my phone suddenly rang. I saw the caller ID and immediately answered.
"Mr. Westwood?"
"Nate."
"Oh, sorry. Nate."
"Ms. Johnson informed me that she'll be dropping you at my place?"
"Yes, sir?"
"Tell her to drop you off at my mother's place."
I never got the chance to say okay before he hung up. I frowned at my phone. What the hell is his problem? I shook my head and just shrugged the thought.
Jessica was talking to Aaron Stevens the whole time in the car. They were arguing over something, making Jessica look like a devil in an angelic outfit. I was probably laughing my ass off so much because the car suddenly stopped, and I almost hit my head on the air vent.
"That was close."
She glared at me before she kicked me out of the car.
"Thank you!"
She sticks out her tongue then drove off.
I was greeted by Mrs. Diaz at the foyer.
"Oh, my goodness! You look absolutely beautiful, dear." She said once she saw me.
"Thank you, Mrs. Diaz." I said, politely. "How have you been? How has Nate been treating you?"
"Oh, you call him Nate now?" she exclaimed.
"Well, he said I should call him that whenever we're not in the office."
"That's good," she said before giving out a wide grin. "Anyway, he's been treating me more than I deserve, you know. That boy may be harsh most of the time, but he has a golden heart."
"Oh, I find it very hard to believe," I mumbled.
"Has he not been treating you well?" she suddenly asked, obviously hearing what I just said.
"Oh, he's fine. Really." I said, assuring her.
"Are you sure? You can tell me anything, so I could give him a good scolding."
"No need for that." I laughed. "Anyway, where is he?"
"Oh, he'll be in a down here in a minute," she said looking at the flight of stairs. "I'll just be in the kitchen. Feel free to explore if you want." I heard her say before she went to the kitchen.
I really want to explore the house, but I don't think I'm really allowed to. I mean, Mrs. Diaz might have already told me but still this is the house my boss's mother, so I decided to take a seat on the sofa instead.
I was admiring the furniture in the room when I heard something.
Music?
I stood and followed the sound. It's funny how I thought I'm not allowed to explore but here I am following the sound of a piano.
As I was walking closer, I heard a man singing. I frowned.
No way.
That voice.
I heard it before.
In my dream.
And this could be good
It's already better than that
And nothing's worse than knowing you're holding back
Oh, no. Impossible. I walked faster until I reached a room where a man sits behind the grand piano. His eyes are closed, probably feeling the melody and lyrics in his soul.
I could be all
That you needed
If you let me try
I stood there, frozen at the revelation before me. The man singing behind the piano has the exact same voice as the man from my dreams. The man was none other than Nathaniel Westwood.
