The next day, the communication device beeped as Rey received a message from Finn and Poe.

"Hello...Finn? Poe?" she asked.

"Rey, how are you?" Finn asked.

"I am okay for now," she answered.

"That's good. Listen, Rey...General Organa has asked us to bring the ships that we've collected to the Resistance base. We'll be back to get you as soon as we can," said Finn.

"Okay," she answered, "goodbye." Then she turned off the com.

Tears stung her eyes. She knew that Finn and Poe didn't want to leave her, but she couldn't help but feel that she was being abandoned, left on Jakku again. They said that they would come back, but no one ever did. How could she believe that they would? The last time someone left her on Jakku, she had waited for almost fourteen years, but they had never come back for her. And she had come to realize why. They didn't love her enough to cover back for her, no one did. She was alone on Jakku again.

She continued to walk through the burning sand, she had to press on. She would have to take care of herself from now on, just as she always had.

That night she set camp and ate the last of the food she had and she was running low on water. She would have to find food and water soon.
