"That looks like that hurt," Frank noticed, following her pace.

"Yeah, getting shot in the thigh feels real nice," she grumbled.

Frank was now in his mid-fourties. Gray streaked his normally dirty blonde hair, and wrinkles began to form on his forehead. While Cassandra remained the same as she had looked fifteen years ago.

"Cassandra, you really should see the doctors."

"No, what I need is a shower."

She limped forward to the showers, and shut the curtain. She turned on the water, and washed herself. She rubbed the sweat from her hair, and combed it out with her fingers. She gently put soap over the wound, and carefully pulled the bullet out with her fingers. Usually, she should not have taken it out on her own, but it hadn't gotten very deep into her leg, so she did it herself.

Blood ran from the wound, down her leg, and into the drain. She started to get worried when a lot of blood poured out of the hole in her leg. She turned off the water, and changed into clothes that always sat in her locker. Blood soaked through the leg of her work pants.

"Ok, Frank. Maybe I do need to see the doctors. It's bleeding a lot." Cassandra admitted.

"What the heck did you do?" Frank asked, staring at the bleeding hole in her leg.

"I pulled out the bullet."

"Why did you think that was a smart idea!"

"Because it wasn't that deep into my leg. If it had gone deeper, I wouldn't have even tried to get it out!"

"You are going to be the death of me Cassandra."

Frank helped her limp to the medical wing, and she sat on a bed. The doctors rolled the leg of her pants up to the wound, and mopped up the blood the best they could with cloth. Frank pressed a rag to her leg, putting pressure on the wound. One of the doctors rubbed a wet cloth to her leg, cleaning the wound. Her head started to spin, and everything looked fuzzy.

"We can't find the bullet," one doctor said.

"Yeah, because she pulled it out." Frank said under his breath.

"What!" The doctor yelled.

"She decided it was a good idea to take it out herself."

"She wasn't supposed to do that!"

More things may have been said, but words were starting to blur together, and she had no idea what was going on.

"Her pulse is slowing."

"Cassandra come on, hold on."

"I need bandages!"

"Cassandra! Cassandra can you hear me!?"

•••••••••••••

Light flooded through Cassandra's eyelids, and she opened them slowly. It took her a moment to adjust to the bright sunlight that was dancing around her room. She sat up, and tried to reach her toes to strech, but she was rudely interrupted by the handcuff around her wrist, and the clanging noise it made against the metal bar over her bed.

She reached for the keys on her nightstand, and unlocked her wrist. She threw the thin covers off her legs, and swung them in front of her in one motion. She stood up, and immediately sat down again.

Stupid. You got shot in the leg.

Leaning against her wall was a crutch. She put it under her arm, and limped towards the door. She struggled with opening it, but eventually got it open. She slowly got to Frank's room, and knocked on the door with her free hand.

He opened the door, and jumped on her, wrapping his arms around her.

"Cassandra, never do that to me again." He said into her shoulder.

"Don't plan on it."

She pulled away from her friend, and looked at his face. She cocked her head, noticing his bloodshot eyes.

"Are you alright?"

"Just peachy."

"Why are your eyes red?"

"It's kind of a long week, with you almost dying, and Klaus getting killed," he said the last part quietly.

"Hold on. Klaus is dead?"

"Stabbed. Nobody knows how it happened."

Cassandra was hit with a wave of sadness, a feeling she hadn't felt in a really long time. She stared over Frank's head, looking blankly at nothing. Questions were floating through her head, and she picked one to ask.

"Who's the new director?"

"Me. I'm sure he would've picked you, but we all thought you weren't going to make it."

"No, you'll be better. And anyways, I can't really do anything can I?" Cassandra daid, motioning to the bandage wrapped tightly around her leg.

"Speaking of which, your next mission is in a month, Doctor Andrew thinks you'll be healed up by then."

"Where will I be going?"

"That's not important, you'll know when you get there."

Cassandra limped away, but not before yelling something back to Frank.

"Congratulations Director!"

"Just call me Frank please."

"You got it Director Frank."

"Shut up Cassandra."
