1945
Cassandra crouched on a ledge next to Dugan, Jaques, Jim, Steve, and James and the rest of the team. Cold air blew through her jacket, and she shivered.
"We were right. Dr. Zola's on the train. Hydra dispatcher gave him permission to open up the throttle. Wherever he's going, they must need him bad." Gabe said, after listening to a radio.
"Let's get going, because they're moving like the devil." James Montgomery said, lowering his binoculars from his face.
Cassandra took a zip line connector from the pile in the corner, and walked over to the edge.
We only got about a 10-second window. You miss that window, we're bugs on a windshield." Steve reminded.
"Mind the gap," Cassandra muttered, getting a pat on the back from Dugan.
"Maintenant!" Jaques shouted.
Steve slid down the cable, James, Cassandra, and Gabe following close after him. Cassandra landed on the train flat on her stomach. She crawled to James and slid into the hatch Steve had fallen through. She stood behind her brother, and Steve skipped to another train car. The door slid shut, and a Hydra agent began to shoot at them. Cassandra ducked to another side of the car behind a few boxes, and fired her pistol. The agent was good at dodging, and the other crates were in her line of sight.
She fired a few more times before her gun made a clicking noise, signaling that it was empty.
"Дерьмо!" She shouted.
She'd made the mistake of only bringing one extra case of ammo, which she'd already used. James ran out as well, and the siblings gave eachother worried looks. The door popped open again, and Steve threw a gun at James. He kicked a crate into the agent, who moved out of the way, only to be killed by James.

A whining noise caused Steve to shove Cassandra and James behind him, and throw up his shield to protect them. A blast of blue energy hit them, blasting the trio backwards. Steve was knocked to the side, dropping the shield. James picked it up, protecting himself and Cassandra. They were hit again, and Cassandra was blasted into the wall of the train, tearing it open.
Cassandra was flung out, holding on barely to a railing.
"James! James, please, please help me. Please I can't hold on," she cried, trying to reach her brother's hand.
"Cass, Cass, come on, give me your hand, come on," he said, reaching for her.
James slipped as he grabbed her hand, holding on to her ankle for dear life.
"Lucy! Give me your hand!" Steve shouted.
The train hit a turn, and released the railing she was holding onto to. Cassandra and James fell down. James held onto her hand until the force of the wind blowing past them forced him to let go.
The air rushed past her, blowing her hair out of its braid and into her face. Her jacket puffed up around her, almost as if it was trying to form a parachute to keep her from falling to her death. Her life flashed before her eyes.
"Cassandra! Cassandra!" Dorothy screamed as Schmidt took her away.
Cassandra gave the small girl a loving look, and got into the back of the sleek black car.
Her ears popped, and she managed look at her brother a few feet below her. She grasped at his fingers, slowly grabbing the rest of his hand. The brother and sister held tightly onto eachother, looking as the ground appeared closer and closer.
"James!" She yelled.
He looked at his sister, tears falling from his face.

"James I love you! You were the best brother I could ever have had, and I'm glad I got to meet you one more time!" She yelled to him.
She braced herself for the hit of the ground, and she saw her brother whisper a few words to her.
"I love you."
She thought she was ready for the pain. She thought she was ready for the breath to get knocked from her chest. She thought she was ready for the bones shattering. She thought she was ready to go. But she was wrong. She remembered Peggy, Dorothy, Howard, Dugan, Steve, as she hit the ground. Her arms and legs twisted in directions she didn't think was possible. The air was blasted from her lungs with a force that took her voice from her throat.
She felt blood run down her neck, almost burning her against the cold snow she'd landed in. James lay next to her, unmoving, blood streaming from his arm. She felt one more tear fall down her face, and she turned her neck to look at her brother, reaching for his hand even though her shattered hand screamed with pain and agony. She grasped his cold fingers, watching as the light drained from his bright blue eyes.
Then she blacked out.
again, sorry about the short chapter, 853 words as opposed to the usual 1015, seems like not very much.
but hey! a double update!
i promise that the next chapter will be longer, and better. -
