Meredith woke up early, she went to the bathroom to take a shower before she went to Bella's room to prepare the little girl for the day. Today they had an appointment with Arizona and Callie for Bella's checkup.
"Morning, baby girl" Meredith said as she entered the room
"Mommy!"
"Did you sleep well?" Meredith asked as she helped the girl to sit up
"Yes!"
"Shall we take them off?" Meredith pointed to the braces
"Yes, mommy! Auwie!" Bella whimpered
"Today we'll go see Arizona and Callie and they will take a look at it" Meredith explained
"Daddy?"
"Daddy is still asleep. Daddy worked till late, do you remember?"
"I member!" Bella said, also using sign language as they trained for if she had trouble using some words.
"Good girl!" Meredith said as she kissed Bella on her head, finishing taking off the braces.
"Bath?" Bella asked
"Tonight, sweetie. We're gonna eat breakfast now" Meredith smiled and carried the girl to the kitchen placing her in her high chair.
"Ce-ral?" Bella asked
"You want cereal?"
"Yes mommy!"
"One bowl of cereal for Bel" Meredith said as she placed the bowl in front of the girl.
"Thank, mommy!"
"I'm gonna wake daddy up, are you okay here?" Meredith asked while her hand went through Bella's hair
"Me kay!"
Meredith walked back to her bedroom to wake up Derek
"Der, wake up" She said kissing his jaw as she plopped on the bed
"Morning" He used his dreamy smile
"Bel is eating, what do you want for breakfast?" Meredith asked as she went with her hand through Derek's hair
"Oatmeal would be great" Derek said before rolling out of the bed and making his way into the bathroom

Meredith went back to the kitchen to prepare some oatmeal for Derek and took a bowl of cereal for herself
"Morning, Bel" Derek said as he entered the room and kissing Bella's forehead
"Daddy!" She started clapping her hands
"Ready for today, Bel?" Derek asked as he took a seat next to Meredith and kissed her lips "Hey, baby, you okay?" He asked as he noticed Meredith's mind was absent
"Hmm" She nodded
"Talk to me, Mer"
"Not now" She said as she stood up and placed her and Bella's bowl in the dishwasher
"Mer" Derek sighed
"Derek, tonight" She replied
"Come on, Bel. Let's get you ready" Derek said he picked her up and placed her on the kitchen counter to put on her shoes
...
"Come on, Bel" Meredith said as they walked trough the hospital
"Up!" Bella said as she raised her hands in a try to get carried by her parents
"Bel, you need to walk" Derek said
"No!" Bella started sobbing
"Bel, please.. We're almost there" Meredith said lowering herself to Bella's level
"Mommy" Bella whimpered
Meredith looked at Derek and decided to give in. She picked up Bella and placed her on her hip
"Hurts, mommy" Bella whimpered again
"Your legs?" Meredith asked concerned as she started to rub Bella's legs
Bella nodded and placed her head in Meredith's neck
"Let's tell Arizona and Callie, will you?" Derek said grabbing her hand
Bella nodded again and the three of them made their way to the peds floor and were brought into an examination room
"Hi, Bella" Arizona and Callie said as they entered the room.
"Hi" Bella replied, hiding herself behind her father's arm
"Bella, how have you been?" Arizona asked
"Mommy?" Bella whimpered
"Sorry, guys.. She's not her usual bright self. She's been in pain today, her legs hurt but we don't know why"

"Has she been complaining before?"
"Usually only about the braces, for longer walks she still uses her wheelchair. We recently bought a larger one as she outgrew her last one."
"Okay, Bella. Can I examine them, please?" Callie asked the little girl
Bella nodded and Callie started to bend Bella's legs. She winced a few times before the exam ended.
"I want to take her for scans. I want to see what's causing the pain but I have a feeling that her muscles became too short" Callie explained
"How.. She always wears her night braces, we do exercises everyday" Meredith leaned against the wall, feeling bad for her little girl
"Mer" Derek sighed as he pulled her close in his embrace
Meredith let go a deep sigh before she asked what's next
"Do you want us to ask a nurse to bring her for scans or do you wanna take her yourself?" Arizona asked
"We'll bring her" Meredith immediately said as they made their way to radiation, helping her in the machine
"Mommy and I will wait here till you're done" Derek said
"Me know daddy" Bella giggled
Meredith started giggling too as she and Derek walked out of the room
"Mer" Derek said as he grabbed her wrist "Talk to me, Meredith"
"Derek.. I just don't want this for our little girl. She doesn't deserve this!" Meredith said as she hugged Derek, trying to find the comfort she needs.
"Mer, we're both surgeons and we know a lot of surgeons. We can make this work, we've been making this work ever since she's been born!" Derek said, rubbing her back while both of them were watching Bella in the scanner as they entered the room holding hands
"Meredith, Derek. I really want to point out how good her talking has become. You should be really proud of her" Arizona said
"We really are!" Meredith and Derek said at the same time
...
"Okay, we took a look at all the scans, inclusive the ones of her lungs" Arizona started as she walked in
"Mer is just checking on one of her patients, she should be back any second" Derek said
"Mommy help sick man" Bella explained
Derek passed her a few of the lego bricks she was playing with to train her fine motor skills.
"I'm here" Meredith said as she ran into the room, out of breath she took a seat on Bella's bed
"Okay so we took a look at her scans and her lungs look okay, also her neurological tests came back clear. We're gonna try a different approach for Bella's legs that will probably be better on the long terms.
"Me sleep here?" Bella asked
"No, Bella. You can go home with your parents once we're done here" Arizona said
"Do the both of you join for the fitting?" Callie asked
"I can't, I need to scrub in soon with Mark" Derek said
"Addison said she would join us" Meredith told Callie and Arizona
"Aunt Addi!" Bella clapped
"She'll be here any second" Meredith said as she and Bella continued playing with the Lego bricks as Arizona kept paying attention to Bella's motor skills. She was kind of impressed, she never expected the girl to become this far with her talking and fine motor skills.

Twice Lived
Previously called Standard Reincarnation Story In a fraction of a moment, the Earth was no more. The planet was destroyed, and billions and billions of people were dead. And it was all an accident. This is the story of Elm. A regular American born once on earth and given a chance to be reborn again on a planet with magic and monsters and dungeons. Except that for Elm, this is far from the idealistic reincarnation into a loving family -- the standard story of a child raised by loving parents who teach him the ways of the world, Instead, Elm is born into a family of inquisitors. An order of nobility that is dedicated to hunting down and killing "Twice-Lived" -- the name society has for people like Elm who are reincarnated with all their memories of their past life intact. Disclaimer This story is: 1) Extremely violent and graphic. 2) Still in a rough draft stage. I see what I am writing more like a synopsis than a fully fledged story. I periodically will go back to flesh out earlier chapters, build characters, etc... If you find the words "Show don't tell," comforting accept that unfortunately, I'm not at that stage of the writing process yet. 3) At one point this story was called "Standard Reincarnation Story," and I had written an extremely off-putting description of the story. This was mostly to keep out people who would just read the silly first few chapters then rage quit as soon as the violent stuff got started. Since I just had my first .5 star rating (without a page read count increase) that technique is not working, so I might as well treat this as a regular fiction and try to get regular readers.
