"Mer? When do you get cleared?" Derek asked as he was putting on his socks
"I think my appointment is next week. I can't believe it's been 4 months" Meredith gasped
"Can you go get the kids tonight?" Derek asked her
"No problem. Maybe we can call Alex and Jo to come over. She's almost due" Meredith told Derek
"Sounds great. Will you call them?" Derek asked Meredith
"I will before I go get the kids and do grocery shopping" Meredith said and started to get ready
"See you tonight" Derek said and kissed her cheek
"Bye" Meredith smiled and finished her tasks. She took her meds that still prevented her body from rejecting her donated lungs
Meredith decided to grab her stuff and jumped into her car. She drove her way to the kids' school and picked them up
"Hey guys, we're gonna go do some grocery shopping and then aunt Jo and uncle Alex will come for dinner"
"Yeay!" The kids yelled
"Will the baby be there?" Ellis asked again
"Well not yet sweetie. But she's close" Meredith giggled
"I can't waaaaait" Ellis whined
"I know you can't" Meredith laughed
"Daddy always said you have mommy's patience" Bailey joked
"Bailey" Ellis sighed as she rolled her eyes
"Daddy's right" Zola giggled
Meredith and the kids were having a lot of fun during their car ride home. Meredith drove onto the ferryboat and helped the kids out
They made their way to one of the benches on the deck and started to continue their chat
"I need to go to the hospital next week for my checkup so I'll probably be home late at night so you guys will have to convince dad to stay up a bit longer" Meredith giggled
"Are you okay?" Bailey asked

"I'm fine but Teddy wants to listen to my lungs again, to make sure everything is still fine" Meredith said as they returned to the car
When they arrived back at the house, Meredith started to cut the vegetables as that was all she could do without ruining dinner. When the kids and Meredith were done, Alex and Jo walked in
"Couch, now please" Jo sighed as she walked inside
"Here" Meredith handed a couple of pillows to Jo
"Oh thank you so much" Jo closed her eyes as she leaned against the pillows
"It's almost over. You'll be able to hold the little girl in your arms soon" Meredith smiled
"My back has been hurting all day" Jo complained but Alex decided to give her a backrub
"Do you want a glass of water? Or some juice?" Meredith offered
"Juice would be perfect" Jo smiled
Meredith got up and walked to the kitchen and grabbed a glass of juice.
After a while of chatting, Jo stood up because she had to use the bathroom when Meredith and Alex heard a splashing sound
"Oh my god" Jo gasped
"Did you just pee?" Alex felt embarrassed
"My water just broke" Jo announced
"Why didn't you tell me your contractions had already started?" Alex blew it up
"I didn't know! This is our first one and now she's gonna die because we can't get to a hospital suick enough and I'm the one to bl- AAH"
"Okay, go lay down and I'll check if you're dilated" Meredith said as she helped jo towards the sofa "Okay, you're almost ready. Alex call EMT and grab us warm towels and water please. Grab us scissors and all the stuff we need" Meredith said sternly
"Mer you haven't done this in years" Alex stood there in shock

"And go tell my kids to not come out here" Meredith added. Not caring about what Alex just said
...
"Okay Jo. You're ready. Start to push" Meredith said as Alex held Jo's hand
Jo started pushing
"Okay, when another contraction comes, I need you to give me a simmilar and strong push. You're doing amazing. Your little one will be here soon" Meredith smiled
"Hi!" Derek said as he walked in "Holy- what's happening here?" He gasped
"Jo is in labour. Come give me a hand" Meredith said and let Derek take place to help her
"Okay here we go" Meredith said as Jo pushed through another contraction
"Here she is" Meredith said and Derek quickly made the baby ready to see both of her parents
"Oh my god. She's adorable" Jo laughed
"Thank you Mer" Alex pulled her into a hug
Alex moved back to Jo and their little girl when Derek pulled Meredith into a hug "You were awesome" He kissed her lips for a long and intense kiss
That's when EMT's walked inside the house
"Mother and baby are both perfectly healthy. Bring them to Grey-Sloan" Meredith told them everything
They loaded Jo and the baby into the ambulance
"We're coming right away" Mereidth said
Alex and Jo nodded
...
"Hey guys" Meredith and Derek said as they walked into the room where Jo and the little one were sitting on the bed
"Thanks again for everything and.. Mer?" Jo started, Meredith was looking confused
"Meet Lily Meredith Karev" Jo said with a huge smile
"Really? Meredith gasped
Both Jo and Alex nodded
"Hey little one" Meredith smiled as she walked closer "your nieces and nephew can't wait to meet you"
"Grey, you did a great job" Miranda said as she walked into the room "Welcome back"
