They were in the air for a bit now. The plane ride war rough and Ellis was very fuzzy. Some other people around them gave them angry expressions
"Ellie, try to take a nap" Meredith whispered
"Nooo" She whined
"Can't you keep your child quiet?" A man next to their row asked
"I-I'm sorry, she-" Meredith stuttered
"We're sorry, okay?" Amelia snapped
The man turned around as Ellis started to fuz again
"Should we give her her meds?" Meredith asked Derek, referring to the light sedative
"Maybe it will be better" Derek sighed
Meredith placed the shot in Ellis' thigh and brushed her fingers through the little girl's hair while whispering soft words
It didn't take long before Ellis was out
Meredith kept Ellis' head on her lap while she brushed her fingers through Ellis' hair
...
Derek carried Ellis out of the plane as she was refusing to walk, claiming her muscles hurt. Which was to be expected
They placed her in the wheelchair and Meredith started pushing her while carrying the carry on bad while Derek and Bailey were taking care of their luggage
They got into a taxi and drove to Carolyn's house
Kathleen was the first one to open the door "Oh-" She sighed as she embraced her brother and sister
They all got into the house
"Where's mom?" Derek asked
"She's in her room" Kathleen's voice cracked
Derek and Amelia nodded and when they wanted to go to Carolyn's room, they heard loud coughing
"It's okay" Kathleen grabbed Derek's arm as he was ready to sprint
Derek and Amelia followed Kathleen to Carolyn's room
Meredith decided to instal them into Derek's old room while Ellis was asleep. Both Bailey and Meredith carried their luggage to the room and unpacked a few things before they headed back to the living room and took a seat "I'm gonna check on nana real quick, okay?" Meredith asked Bailey

Bailey nodded his head and took over from Ellis' hand and gently rubbed it
Meredith quietly entered Carolyn's room and she had to hold back a gasp as she saw the usually warm mother figure laying in the bed, white and pale as a ghost with a scarf wrapped around her head
"Hey.. Meredith" Carolyn whispered and let go of a small smile
"Hi mom" Meredith smiled back and rubbed Derek's back
"How.. are my.. grandchildren?" Carolyn asked with a slightly big smile
"They're doing good. Bailey wants to see you soon if that's okay. Ellie is- she's tired" Meredith smiled sadly
Carolyn nodded and smiled a bit before her eyes started to droop again
"I'm gonna check on the kids" Meredith said and got out of the room again. Once she was in the hallway she had to brace herself against the wall before falling apart
"Meredith?" Nancy's voice was heard
"I- I'm sorry" Meredith wiped away her tears
"Don't apologize. How was the flight?"
"Rough.." Meredith sighed
"Ellis?" Nancy guessed and Meredith just nodded
"I love her so much but it's so hard sometimes" Meredith's voice cracked
Nancy pulled Meredith into her arms
"I'm gonna check on the kids" Meredith said sternly and walked to the living room where Bailey and Ellis laid down on the couch
"Bails, do you wanna go see nana?" Meredith asked and Bailey just nodded before going to the room. Meredith replaced Bailey on the couch and cuddled Ellis tight
"Na-na?" Ellis whispered
"Wanna go see nana in a bit?" Meredith asked
Ellis nodded
"Let's watch some tv first" Meredith said and turned on the tv
...
Meredith and Ellis were hiding from the other people in the big house. The stress didn't do anything good for Ellis

Meredith was cuddling the little girl on their own bed as they were watching some clips on their Ipad.
"Mer? Ellie?" Derek whispered as he entered the room
"D-add-y Ellis smiled
"I got you some dinner" Derek placed two plates on the desk
"Thanks. Aren't they upset with us sitting here?" Meredith asked
"Of course not. They know why" Derek grabbed her hand
"How are you and Bails? Can I do anything for your mom?" Meredith asked
"We're good. I think tonight I'll come here so we can be together the whole evening. I'm watching my mom tonight"
"I can take over if you want" Meredith suggested but Derek shook his head
"I need to do this, besides, I won't be of much use for the kids"
"When's Zola flying out?" Meredith asked
"She'll be here tomorrow eve" Derek told Meredith
Meredith nodded and lifted Ellis up and sat down on the chair at the desk with Ellis still on her lap
She saw Derek frowning. He probably was questioning why she was carrying their daughter as he knew how much Meredith's back hurt afterwards
"She's just fuzzy. It will be better tomorrow" Meredith said and put on the bib around Ellis' neck before starting to feed her
Ellis was quiet but fuzzy. She refused to open her mouth a few times and when she finally said she wasn't hungry anymore, Meredith put her back on the bed before going to the kitchen to wash the plates while Derek was watching Ellis
When Meredith entered the room, Bailey, Derek and Ellis crawled up together and she joined them for a bit until Derek's so named shift started. She just let Derek sleep and went to Carolyn's room to join her and make sure she would be okay
