《Never grow up [1/2]》25

"Derek, what's wrong?" Meredith asked as she saw her husband in tears
"My mom.. Nancy called.." He stuttered
"What's wrong?" Meredith asked and sat down next to Derek, grabbing his hands
"My mom is sick.. lung cancer" Derek whispered
"Der.." Meredith sighed and pulled him into a hug
"M-omm-y?" Ellis whimpered
"It's okay, Ellie. Go find Bails" Meredith slightly smiled to Ellis, trying to not worry her
"Shall I start packing?" Meredith suggested
"What?" Derek asked
"Shall I start packing so we can fly out?" Meredith asked again
Derek nodded and Meredith pulled Derek into a hug and brushed her fingers through his hair
"Are you okay if I go upstairs and start packing?" Meredith asked
Derek nodded "I'll call Amy"
Meredith ran upstairs to Bailey's room and entered it
"Mom? What's wrong? Ellis is so tensed" Bailey frowned. He was sitting on the bed with Ellis wrapped in his arms
"Ellie?" Meredith questioned and walked towards her kids
"She said something about aunt Nancy" Bailey said
"Bails, nana is sick. We're going to New York as soon as possible" Meredith said and pulled the tiny girl into her arms. Even though Ellis is now a teenager, she looks around 10 years old
"N-aaaa" Ellis whimpered
"Calm down baby. Nana's gonna be fine" Meredith kissed Ellis' head
"N-oooo n-aa-na" Ellis started crying
Meredith pulled Ellis tighter while also wrapping her arms around Bailey
"Is dad okay?" He asked
Meredith shook her head "He's very sad. I'm gonna start packing our stuff in a bit so we can maybe fly out tonight. Can you grab your stuff?" Meredith asked Bailey
Bailey nodded as Ellis started to overstretch
"Ellie, calm down baby"
"Naaa" Ellis groaned
"Shh, baby" Meredith started to rock Ellis' body

"Do I need to get dad?" Bailey asked
"No, leave him. We'll be fine" Meredith's voice cracked
Ellis started to zone out and Meredith knew a seizure was coming
Meredith gently helped Ellis through her seizure as she kept whispering comforting words
"Shh baby, it will all be okay" Meredith said once Ellis seemed to be responding again
"M- M-o M-oo-mmm-yy" Ellis whimpered
"Shh baby, you're okay. I'll bring you to your bedroom so you can take a short nap" Meredith whispered and kissed the top of Ellis' head
Meredith carried Ellis to her bed with some difficulty. Her daughter definitely was heavier then when she was a child
"N-oo! M-e n-ot -lone" Ellis whimpered
"I'll bring you to the big bed" Meredith placed Ellis into her own bed and tucked her in "Stay here and nap. I'll be packing our stuff in the room, okay?"
Ellis nodded
"I'm just gonna grab your clothes really quick, be right back" Meredith kissed Ellis' forehead
It didn't take long for Meredith to return with clothes and other stuff in her arms. She placed it on the bed, grabbed a few suitcases and started filling them up with their stuff while Ellis was sleepily watching Meredith until soft snores filled the room
"Mer?" Derek's exhausted voice was heard. Meredith turned around and almost catched her husband in her arms and helped him to the bed
"We can leave tonight. We just have to book a flight" Meredith said as she rubbed his thigh
Derek nodded numbly
"Mom? I'm finished" Bailey whispered as he stood at the doorway
"Thanks Bails" Meredith gave him a sad smile
Bailey threw his arms around Derek and tried to comfort his dad
"Why don't you two go to the kitchen. I'll get you some tea" Meredith suggested

"I'll make tea" Bailey nodded at Meredith
"Thanks Bailey" Meredith said as she watched the two men walk out of the room. Her son was almost as long as Derek, his blonde and slightly wavy hair could give him every girl he wanted
Meredith continued packing. Their suitcase was filled with mostly Ellis' stuff, such as meds, night braces, a neck pillow,..
Meredith started to get concerned about this flight. Their youngest daughter was used to flying but this was unplanned, not the best seats, hoping they brought everything, Ellis will be tired,..
Meredith brought their suitcases downstairs, next to the front door of their house and walked back to Ellis' room to prepare the little girl's wheelchair for a flight to NY. She didn't use it that much but Meredith was sure that every movement after the plane ride would be too much and she was getting to heavy to be carried around
The house was filled with sad feelings and Ellis catched up on it. She was stirring a lot during her nap, even a couple groans as Meredith tried to calm her down so she could rest some more
"Mer, I just booked our flights. We're leaving the house in two hours" Derek said
"We'll be in New York soon, Der" Meredith whispered
"Do I need to help? How's Ellie?"
"Everything is packed, I think. Ellie's doing okay. She's stirring but don't you worry about that, okay?" Meredith didn't want her husband to worry even more
"Okay. Let's get ready to leave" Derek said as Meredith grabbed his hand

The True Confessions of a Nine-Tailed Fox
Fox spirits are infamous as troublemakers, Piri the nine-tailed fox perhaps more so than most. After she follows an order from Heaven to destroy a dynasty with more enthusiasm than the gods can accept, she is sentenced to death by the Jade Emperor himself. Executed via her best-known torture device, she is cast into the cycle of reincarnation, starting at the very bottom – as a worm. While she slowly accumulates positive karma and earns reincarnation as higher life forms, she also has to navigate inflexible clerks, bureaucratic corruption, and the whims of the gods themselves. Will Piri ever reincarnate as a fox again? And once she does, will she be content to stay one? Cover art by Daniela.
8 232I'm a Veteran Adventurer in a World without Healing Magic.
It's a fantasy world just like any other, orcs, elves, monsters, adventurer's guilds... Just one catch, though: there's no such thing as healing magic. Get a nasty wound from the monster you're fighting? There's nothing to patch you up, not so much as a red potion or a cure light wounds spell! All you can rely on are mundane medical procedures to help you get back on your feet. And those don't come cheap! You can probably guess that injuries that in other worlds would be minor are rather costly in one where the priest class doesn't exist. What kind of dungeoneering community springs up in an atmosphere where a simple cut can mean lethal infection? How do dungeon crawlers find workarounds when conventional combat proves too dangerous? A veteran warrior who senses his time is near puts to pen a final record, a shocking tell-all about his adventuring career...
8 141the hero, the villain,and the profiteer
...*ahem*.... I have been on the site for a while and I have wanted to make my own piece of literature for this site so I'm going to do it here is what I will be making as my first one. Honestly the thought just popped into my head yesterday I rather enjoy several different kinds of stories on the site, so I found a way to do a little bit of each. I myself am a high-functioning autistic but that's only shows in my writing for the most part they look will be the occasional grammar mistake and missing apostrophes and periods I'm also using a speech to text feature on my computer that will occasionally slip up. Now for the synopsis of the story: your standard reincarnation seventh hero type deal but there is a little..... Slip up: parts of the person fractals creating several people;; A great-hearted hero, a savvy traveling merchant, and a sadist curious dungeon Lord. Critiques and people reading this is appreciated, I mostly just doing this for fun. And because this is somewhat important for some reason the cover art is not made by me I just got it from search engine. It also may change over time. im mostly following the dl becouse...i don't know.
8 184A Siren's Call
I was a normal teenage girl but one day I was kidnapped. Everything changed after that. I saw the cruelty of the world. I had learned late about what I should fear more in life. I was granted a rebirth and a screen popped up in front of me. There were two choices: ‘New Life’ and ‘Revenge’. I wonder which I should choose. **A story about a girl who lost her sanity and falls deeper and deeper into the darkness.** WARNING: This story is not for the soft hearted. There are a lot of moments where you'd question my own sanity. Heck, I was disturbed at some moments as I write this story but I can't not write it! **DOUBLE WARNING: This is a very very very very dark story.** : p.s. I do not own the cover art in any way or form and found it using the almighty google-sensei.

8 223Heroes: Book III
Without any warning we were there, staring at the dark and pain of the world. I could sense it all. All the black matter consuming humanity. But for some odd reason I wasn't afraid. He just laced his fingers with mine and looked at me in a way that made it all okay. And then we ran into the shadows. ...because I guess that's just what heroes do.
