Years have passed, Ellis still needed a lot of extra care, Zola left for med school and Bailey's doing very good too. Meredith and Derek were exhausted with combining Ellis and work and their family life but Meredith has been doing good, she had no other heart issues except for once when she forgot to take her meds
"M-omm-y! Ellis ran towards Meredith when she arrived home
"Hey baby, how was your day?" Meredith smiled and embraced the girl
"G-ood! Bay -nd d-add-y m-king f-ood" Ellis told Meredith
"Are they? Let's see what's for dinner" Meredith giggled
Ellis was skipping as she led Meredith towards the kitchen
"Be careful" Meredith laughed as Ellis almost tripped
"M-e c.. ca- ca-re-full" Ellis giggled
"Hey" Meredith said as she entered the kitchen
"Hi mom" Bailey gave a hug
"Hi honey" Derek kissed Meredith's lips passionated
"Hi" Meredith whispered as she rested her head on Derek's chest
"Tired?" He asked
"Hmm" She nodded
"Ellie, take mommy to the couch" Derek said
"M-omm-y, c-ome!" Ellis giggled and grabbed Meredith's hand
Meredith slowly followed Ellis to the couch and collapsed on it while Ellis cuddled into her arms
"M-omm-y, sleep!" Ellis giggled
"I need to take a nap?" Meredith giggled
"Yes, me doc. Y-our doc!"
"Oh, you're my doctor?" Meredith guessed
"Y-es" Ellis giggled and rested her head on Meredith's chest
"Hmm" Meredith groaned and placed her head on top of the pillow and closed her eyes. It didn't take long before she was fast asleep
After an hour, Derek and Bailey woke the two of them up
"M-ommy-y foo-d!" Ellis shook her mother gently
"Hmm, no" Meredith groaned and covered her face with a pillow
"Mer, come on" Derek pulled the pillow away
"Derek, let me sleep" She groaned again

"M-omm-y?" Ellis frowned
"Mer, come on" Derek shook her again
Meredith groaned and finally opened her eyes "What?"
"Are you really that exhausted?" Derek asked with a small frown
Meredith nodded as she yawned again
"Dinner first, then meds and then you go to bed" Derek said as he pulled her onto her feet
They all had dinner and were chatting away, especially Bailey who couldn't stop talking about his last match
"It was amazing" Bailey told them with big eyes
"I can imagine" Meredith giggled and smiled at Bailey
Ellis was stuffing her food in her mouth without chewing "Ellie, chewing, swallowing and then taking a new bite"
Ellis didn't really listen and just kept stuffing food as she was drooling
"Ellie, spit it out" Derek held a tissue in front of her mouth
Ellis spit the food out and just looked at her parents
"Are you so exhausted Ellie Belle?" Meredith asked
The nodded slightly
"Well finish your vegetables and then I'll tuck you in bed" Meredith said and Ellis started stuffing her vegetables back into her mouth, again without chewing
"I don't think this will work. Let's bring you to bed" Mereidth said and cleaned up her daughter before grabbing her hand and leading her upstairs
"S-tor-y" Ellis murmured
Meredith started reading Ellis' favourite book and saw the girl fall asleep close after. This was Meredith's cue to close her eyes for just a moment and off they were. Both were asleep in the pink unicorn bed after an exhausting day
"Mer?" Derek entered the room a bit later to check on his girls "Mer, wake up. You need to take your meds" Derek shook her awake
"Hmm.. hi" She murmured as she say up
"Hey" Derek laughed and handed her a hand and led her to their room as he gave her meds which she took in immediately

"And now I have some spare time with my husband" She smiled and her hands discovered Derek's chest
Meredith and Derek laid panting on the bed
"I love you" Meredith murmured
"I love you too. Now get some sleep, tomorrow will be busy" Derek said and wrapped his arms tighter around his wife
...
"Morning baby" Meredith said as she woke up Ellis
"M-ning" Ellis murmured
"Did you sleep well?" Meredith asked
Ellis nodded and gave her mom a kiss and hug
"Let's go get ourselves ready" Meredith smiled and helped Ellis on her feet after rubbing them out
"Ow" Ellis winced
"What's wrong?" Meredith asked concerned
"M-e b-oo b-oo" Ellis whined
"Let's see" Meredith frowned and helped Ellis back on the bed "Where does it hurt?" Meredith asked
Ellis pointed at her feet and arms
"Is your body sore?" Meredith asked and Ellis nodded "Well you did do a lot yesterday" Meredith
"M-e do l-ot-s!" Ellis smiled
"Yeah you did!" Meredith smiled back and tried it again. This time, Ellis started following her and they went to the kitchen and walked towards Derek who was sitting at the table and wiping his eyes
"Der, what's wrong?"
"Nancy just called"

Humanity Extinguished
I had the same nightmare again. The loss of my first life continues to haunt me, but now it aches like an old wound. A more grievous injury to my psyche was the losses yet to come and the inevitable hellscape I would return to again and again. Reincarnation is my curse. The lives themselves weren't all that bad. Losing people you cared about hurt and all, but even that pain was preferable to experiencing the nothingness between lives for months at a time. It was enough to drive anyone mad. Now I have to focus on breaking this horrible cycle. Thankfully I have all the time in the world. Trace is an average man driven by extraordinary circumstances in an indifferent and cruel world. His reincarnations give him a few key advantages but also take a heavy toll on him. He lives in a world where magic is uncommon and underpowered compared to the limitless physical adaptations you can acquire by getting your hands a little bloody. This story is one of hardship and terrible lows, but also monumental achievements and grand heights. The main character has flaws. While some of these flaws will fade with time, others will worsen. Thank you for taking the time to read my synopsis. I plan to release 2-3 chapters a week.
