《I Did Not Learn English In School - Simple Secrets to Learning English Fast》You Are What You Eat

You need input. Tons of it. Therefore, watch and read anything English. But be smart. What you choose to watch and read about shapes the way you think and speak.
Versatility holds the key. Be flexible enough to feed your brain with both formal and informal English. If you're more into reading newspaper editorials you're likely to speak and write in a formal fashion.
The same is true with watching the news. I've heard a lot of teachers telling their students to watch CNN, BBC, and the like. I would say, "very good!" But bad things happen when you keep your focus on them.
Formal English is what generally appears in business letters, magazines, and newspapers. You also use it when you write company memos, company emails, and company brochures. When you speak to a person of authority, you are expected to use formal English. From national news broadcasts to documentary programs on radio or television formal English is necessary.
Informal English, on the other hand, is basically your day-to-day spoken language. You are not expected at all to be serious and formal. You may also use it when writing a letter to a close friend or relative. Check out these simple examples:
I have nothing against those who like to present a formal rather than personal voice in the expression of their ideas. However, you don't want to talk like Britain's best-known natural history filmmaker David Attenborough even in the most informal of situations, do you?
Again, be careful about what you read and what you watch. I do not get it when some BEGINNER EFL/ESL students take pride in watching Friends and yet their English competency is not good enough to hold even a simple conversation.
Do not get me wrong. I do not discourage anyone from watching this popular American television sitcom. My point is: American or British humor can be hard to understand especially for BEGINNER students.

I have seen people watching sitcoms with the most clueless of expressions. When the fake laughter erupts, they also engineer a fake laugh. My friend, take the road less taken. Don't follow the crowd. Select movies that match your current English level.
For beginners and intermediate students, I usually recommend you watch Pixar animated films such as Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Toy Story.
Here's one for you: Knowing what the movie is all about is as important as the level of English being spoken by the casts. Do not forget context. The movies I recommend make it easier for you to follow what is going on. Not to mention, the level of English in these films is viewer-friendly.
After all, when you talk or write you need to be careful to communicate the kind of English that's appropriate for a particular individual, audience, or reader.
Want something conversational? Read blogs. Bloggers don't write in academic tone. They write like they're talking to their next-door neighbor. However, get selective when picking a blog.
Not every post is written by the guy who owns it. (A guest blog is okay.) I should know. I was a ghostwriter paid to write articles that don't matter to me. Read blog posts whose writers write with their heart and soul.

Adagio of the Enlightened
The Elders will tell you the stories and lore. Of our ancestors, their deeds, and of the foes of yore. They will praise to you the chariot, and how it flew to the stars. How it stole the sun's light and slew the night’s roar. The Shamans will tell you the tales of their wisdom. Their wars on schism, and the unlettered world of ours before. Perhaps they will sing you the songs of what our clans' ancient customs tore. Poems of how our ancestors took what the discs had offered them, the manna and the mundane, and made it more. The kings will tell you of the follies, the sins, and the anecdotes of all our ancestors' wrongs. They will curse to you their names, the Ender of Fate and the Ruined Song. How they had dug up the hearts of the discs, euchred its relics, and blasphemed its prophecies, with oracles withdrawn. But they will only tell you the legends, recount the myths, and sing the allegories washed ashore. The Elders, the Shamans, and the kings can only retell what the storytellers of their own time had voiced. What they have read in books or heard in the minstrels' songs they adore. They don't know what really happened. They were never there. They can't tell you how our ancestors slew the angels from the sky, and sent them back to where they belonged. How they poisoned our minds, and made our people slothful and feeble, with the reforms they had undergone. But I can.I can tell you how the Ender of Fate severed destiny's strings, weakened them, and weaved them to our feeble flesh and souls.I can tell you how the Ruined song razed the heavens with her blood-stained melody, and reshaped our hell into utopia, with the deaths she deplored.Because I was there. I can tell you the truth, with my virtue strong. ----> Disclaimer: This will be a slow-burn, character-driven, non-harem, slice-of-life web novel with cultivation and kingdom-building elements. Since his birth, and even before, the consequences of millennia of war have condemned him to a miserable life. The heritage of a weakened race and the legacy of a superior being have forced him to become a hero he didn't want to be.

Moonshot
Gregarious businessman Evin Tumble is fascinated by the sudden and inexplicable appearance of a low-orbiting moon. Specifically, he's interested in shooting it down with a giant cannon. The moon is only about eight miles overhead, but it's high enough and quick enough that nobody can reach it by balloon or airship. He hires our protagonists: taciturn Iseult Morrin, cheerful Sean Whelan, and nervous Íde Ceallaigh, to help him with his obsession. As our heroes are dispersed across the continent to perform tasks for Tumble, and the moon-hunt draws closer, they become increasingly suspicious of their benefactor's motives and true nature. Moonshot is a story centred around struggling with confidence, the difficulty of being an immigrant, and the duality of truth, all clad in the trappings of an urban fantasy. It is character-driven, from the heart, and based on tropes and ideas that are missing from a lot of contemporary fantasy (a push beyond the flawless-yet-somehow-still-needs-rescuing-by-an-oafish-man heroine trope, a touch of cosmic magic based on the shared geometries of Celtic and Arab art).
