《A Night Under A Thousand Stars》Wedding Planning Part I
Advertisement
I was ripping and running around Neverland trying to make sure everything was set and I would be on time today. It was a very important day because Michael and I were meeting with the top wedding planner in America to discuss details of our wedding.
She was going to help us come up with some plans and help bring our ideas to life for the wedding both him and I wanted. We had just gotten back from the Bahamas and as soon as we landed, we started making phone calls to planners and looking through wedding catalogs.
I also started talking to a few designers for my dress. I haven't decided who I'm going with yet, but right now, Michael and I are focused on trying to plan a date and booking a venue wherever that might be.
I've been feeling a little overwhelmed because Michael wants to get married so soon and don't get me wrong, I want him to be my husband as soon as possible too, but also a huge part of me is like...how in the hell are we going to plan a wedding in less than 6 months?
Michael said we can do it because he can pull some strings and we have money to just throw at anything which is true, but I'm stressed because I never realized how much actually goes into planning a wedding.
I ran down the hallway heading towards Michael's room so I could get showered and dressed. Michelle, the wedding planner, called and said she was about 15 minutes away so I had to hurry and be ready by the time she got here.
I ran into the bathroom turning on the water for the shower. As I waited for the water to warm up, I went into my closet and grabbed a panty and bra set to throw on right after I got out. I saw steam coming out of the bathroom, so I knew the water was hot and I jogged back to the bathroom passing Michael who was coming out of his closet.
"Hi baby," Michael said as I stripped off my clothes and hopped into the shower. "Hi baby! Sorry, gotta shower. Michelle is like down the street," I said, starting to lather my body in soap. I heard Michael chuckle at me being frantic.
I quickly showered and hopped out, changing into the undergarment set I had picked out prior and wrapped myself in my robe, getting my makeup out to do a quick makeup look. As I filled in my eyebrows a little, Michael came in all dressed.
He looked at me through the mirror but I had such little time, I couldn't even engage with him. I heard him chuckle, "You okay?" he asked. "Yeah, I'm fine," I said, applying concealer with one hand and starting on mascara with the other.
"I've never seen you put makeup on like that before," he chuckled and I did too. "Yeah, well I'm in a rush. Michelle is probably outside and I'm not ready." He reached over and caressed my back, "It's okay. It won't be the end of the world if you're a few minutes late," he said and I sighed. He did have a point.
I nodded at him in agreement and finished my makeup rather quickly leaving me time to put some waves in my hair as Michael also styled his hair. It was a sight to see Michael and I get ready together. I don't know who took longer, him or me.
I finished curling my hair and I was surprised Michelle wasn't here. I was driving myself crazy for no reason....yet just when I put the curling iron away, one of the staffers notified Michael of her arrival. I wasn't even dressed!

"Okay, thank you! We'll be right down," Michael said through the intercom in his room. "Oh my god," I said, running out of the bathroom and into my closet trying to find something nice and sophisticated to wear.
I settled on an all white look to be festive since we were planning our wedding today. I put on some white block heels and ran across the room to accessorize. I heard voices so I knew Michelle was here.
I put my cartier watch back on along with the tennis bracelet and cartier bracelet Michael gave him and also my 'MJ' initial bracelet I bought to match the one I bought him. One thing I needed-my ring. Where was my ring?
"Michael!!" I called out moving stuff around, "Have you seen my ring?" I looked into the shower and it wasn't in there when I heard Michael's footsteps come into the bathroom. "Where is my ring!" I gritted through my teeth starting to stress out.
I bent down to look in my drawers just in case I put it where I had put all of my face care. "Baby," Michael said softly and I looked up at him. He was holding it between his fingers with his head tilted at me. I sighed and stood up going to grab it, but Michael pulled it back. He held out his hand and I placed my left hand in his as he slid the ring on my finger.
"Relax," he said softly, running his hands down my arms and stopping at my elbows. I sighed, closing my eyes and taking a deep breath. "I'm just overwhelmed. Excited, but I know it's going to be a lot of work," I said with my eyes closed.
Michael tightened his grip on my arms, pulling me into him. He placed a soft, but long kiss on my lips and just like that, all my stresses went out the door. I opened my eyes as he pulled away and saw him smirking. He knew the power he had over me.
"Better?" he asked. I smiled and nodded, "Better," I said and he smiled. He rubbed my arms, "Everything is going to be fine. We'll get through all this planning together and you and I will have the best wedding ever," he said, making my smile grow wider. "The best wedding ever," I reemphasized and he chuckled.
"Ready?" he asked. I turned and looked in the mirror and was pleased with the final look, "Ready," I confirmed and he winked. "Okay, let's go plan the best wedding ever," he said and I smiled, "Let's do this."
He grabbed my hand and led me out of the room into the living room where Michelle would be. We walked in and at the sound of footsteps she turned around and as she locked eye contact with us, she stood up smiling.
"Mr. Jackson and soon to be Mrs. Jackson, it's an honor to meet you both," she said, holding out her hand as we walked over to her. Michael shook her hand and greeted her first. I smiled, shaking her hand next, "The pleasure is ours. It's so nice to meet you. Michael and I have heard all but amazing things about you," I said and she smiled. "Yes, I take my job very seriously so I expect that to be my reputation," she said and I smirked. I liked her confidence.
"Could we get you anything to drink or eat?" Michael asked. "Do you have sparkling water?" she asked. Michael nodded and called out to the staff to bring us all sparkling water, "Follow me," he said, grabbing my hand again and leading us into the living room that overlooked the lake at Neverland.

Michael and I sat down and Michelle sat opposite of us. She placed her briefcase on the table and smiled at us, "So, first things first. Congratulations on the engagement!" she said excitedly and both Michael and I smiled, "Thank you," we both said at the same time. "Okay, tell me where we are. Do you guys have any plans yet?" she asked, "Anything you guys know for sure," she added.
Michael and I looked at each other before looking back at her. I chuckled, "No, we don't have anything planned," I said and she nodded. "And that's perfectly fine. That's what I'm here for," she said, giving us a reassuring smile.
"Okay," she said, popping open her briefcase, "First things first-the date. When do you guys want to get married?" she asked. Michael and I looked at each other and I nodded for him to go. "Well, I want it to be as soon as possible. No later than June because of work for me," he said and she nodded, "Okay, so soon," she questioned looking between us. "Yes."
She pulled out a calendar, "So in June or before June? Because you could either do it before and have a spring wedding or middle to late June and have a summer wedding," she said. Michael looked at me, "Spring," I said and she nodded. "Okay, we're getting somewhere. How about May?" she asked. May didn't sound too bad. It was still a little over 5 months away and gave us an adequate amount of time.
"I like May," I said thinking about it. "Me too," Michael said and she smiled. "Perfect! What day?" she asked. "Definitely a Saturday," I said and Michael agreed. "Okay, how about May 27th?" she asked, looking between the two of us.
"May 27th," I whispered trying to get a feel of it. I smiled, "I like it. What about you?" I asked, looking at Michael who was smiling from ear to ear. "I love it," he said and I smiled. "Perfect so May 27th it is!" Michelle said, smiling at us.
"So now that we have a date...any places in mind?" she asked. "Well, we talked about a destination wedding. We just weren't sure if we'd have time to go international and physically visit the venues," I said and she smirked.
"Well, that's where I come in. I have brochures from venues all around the world the two of you could look through and I'd say narrow it down to 3 destinations and either I could go look for the both of you and take a ridiculous amount of pictures so you see every single pov or we can all set out one weekend and accomplish going to all 3 together," she said.
"Well, now I'm even more open to it. You definitely made that so much easier," I said, making us all chuckle. "Do we have any destinations in mind?" Michelle asked. "I think Paris is one for sure. I know it sounds so cliche, but that's where we met," Michael said, biting his lip and looking at me. I slowly smiled.
Paris would be romantic considering it's the city of love and Michael and I did meet there and also got back together in Paris. It seems to always bring us good luck.
"That's a great choice. There's so many different venues you guys could pick out there," Michelle said. "What do you say baby?" Michael asked. I nodded, "Definitely Paris, but I also want to look at Spain. Spain is just amazing," I said and Michael ooo'ed in agreement. .
"Yay! This is so exciting! So, we have potentially Paris, Spain, and...." Michelle trailed off. I looked at Michael as he gnawed on his bottom lip, "Italy?" he asked, looking at me. I nodded in agreement. I loved Italy, one of my favorite countries. It was so beautiful and the language was also beautiful. And who doesn't love pasta?
"Italy," I confirmed and Michelle clapped. "Okay, perfect! We narrowed it down to three. Now, I have some brochures here for all 3 destinations that you guys can look at," she said, grabbing them and handing them to us, "And so would you like to accompany me on this trip? I think we should head out no later than 3 weeks," she finished.
I sat back in thought thinking about my schedule. "I can go for sure," I said and Michelle smiled. "I honestly have to check, but I want to go, so I'm going to say yes," Michael said and so we set a weekend to go out and visit all 3 places courtesy of Michael's private jet.
"Okay, next the biggest thing we need to work on now is wedding invites," she said and we both nodded. "We can send out two sets; one for save the date and the second one could actually be the venue and hotels, rvsp, those kinds of things."
"Okay, how do we go about that?" I asked. "Well, I already have a partnership with a company that can help you guys design and then print and also mail out. All it really boils down to is what you guys want them to look like," she said and we nodded.
"Have you guys recently taken pictures?" she asked, looking between the two of us. "We have but not professionally," Michael answered. I nodded, "Yeah, we just took one in the Bahamas that we really liked. Michael's nephew took it," I added. "That could work! If you guys could just draw up something for us and my partners can bring it to life."
I smiled, she was actually making this a lot less stressful and I was so happy.
"Michael, that's you with your artistic abilities," I said and he laughed nodding. "Yeah, I'll do that," he said smiling and rubbing his hand across my lower back. "Next big thing...colors," Michelle said and I nodded, "Mm, right," I said and Michael chuckled.
We tried talking about colors in the Bahamas one night but we could not agree on one color at all.
"Uh oh," Michelle said slowly smiling and Michael and I laughed. "We've been having trouble agreeing on colors," Michael said, filling her in. Michelle laughed, "You know that's always where couples disagree? It's always on the color schemes!" she said and we all laughed.
"Let's try this, Michael, what colors are you favoring?" she asked. Michael smirked looking at me, "One of my favorite colors is red, but she keeps saying it's too bright." Michelle laughed looking at me. "It is too bright!" I defended myself.
"Ashley what colors are you thinking?" she asked. "I want more neutral tones so it'll be easier for our wedding party, so I was thinking of pastel colors like white with a blush pink or I like olive green."
"Still no Michael?" she asked. Michael shrugged, "Honestly, it's up to her. I would've liked red, but if she doesn't want it then that's fine. I like white. How about all white?" he asked, looking at me.
Michelle smiled, "All white is simple and elegant. Some of the best weddings I ever did were all white," she said looking at me and I bit my lip.
"I'm good with all white," I said and they both smiled. "You guys are made for each other," she said, making us laugh, "I've never seen a man so compassionate in giving his soon-to-be wife exactly what she wanted."
Michael and I laughed, "I know, he's just the greatest," I said, rubbing his arm affectionately. Michelle smiled at us.
For the next two hours, she helped us plan a lot of things and it was safe to say that there was a lot that could be checked off the to-do list and it felt like a lot of pressure was lifted off of us with the help of Michelle.
Michael and I watched as she got into the car outside waiting for her and we waved saying bye as the car slowly started taking off and heading down the road. Michael and I stepped back as he started closing the front door.
I sighed, feeling relieved of some of my stresses even though Michelle left Michael and I with a huge to-do list. I slowly smiled, starting to get really excited at the thought of being married to Michael. Gosh, I couldn't wait.
"What are you smiling at over there Smiles," Michael asked, teasing me. I giggled, "I can't wait to get married," I said smiling hard as Michael started smiling because I was so happy. He walked closer to me and engulfed me in a hug squeezing me tightly as he swayed us side to side.
"I can't wait either," he said, muffled in my hair. I looked up at him and saw him smiling just as hard as I was. "What do you want to do now?" he asked. "Let's go race on the go karts," I said smiling and he smiled even wider, grabbing my hand. "You ain't said nothing but a word," he said, pulling me outside towards the amusement rides.
Michael and I ended up having a fun day just the two of us. We rode most of the rides here at Neverland and just joked around acting like two big kids together. Days like this are my favorite kind of days because we are just us with no cares in the world. We don't have to worry about the press and tabloids or people taking our pictures all the time.
We walked together back towards the main house from the Spider as I picked at my cotton candy, "I'm hungry," I mumbled with a mouth full of it. Michael looked at me, "With as much cotton candy you ate today?" he asked, chuckling and stealing some of mine.
"Cotton candy is like eating air, quite literally," I said, giving him a look that made us laugh. He intertwined his fingers in mine, "Okay what would my girl like to eat?" he asked, glancing at me before looking up at the sunset from beneath his fedora.
"Hmm..." I hummed trying to think of what I wanted to eat, "We should cook together," I suggested. Michael looked back down at me and smiled, "Really?" he asked, shocked. I nodded, "Mhm, you and me cook dinner."
"Why?" he asked, laughing. "Why not?" I asked laughing too, "We need to get better in the kitchen for when we have kids." He smiled and I knew that he'd for sure agree now. "Okay," he said, getting all happy, "What do you want to cook?" he asked as we walked up the steps to the back door.
"We can do some vegetables," I said and he nodded, "Maybe some steaks," I added. Michael wiggled his eyebrows and I laughed. "How does that sound?" I asked. "Sounds good to me," he said, opening the door for me.
Michael and I started cooking dinner together and it was actually a lot of fun dancing around the kitchen, sipping on our wine, and cutting up vegetables together.
As I cut up the bell pepper and Michael cut up the zucchini, 'Don't Stop Til You Get Enough' came on the radio.
"Ohhhhh shittttt," I said, making Michael roll his eyes and laugh.
I sang along to the opening of the song making Michael laugh,
"Here you go," Michael said as I sat my knife down and grabbed his setting it down too so I could grab his hands and make him dance with me.
Michael giggled as I made him dance with me moving his arms back and forth. "Come on Jackson! I know you can do better than this!" I said over the loud music making Michael smile. "Alright, alright," he said, letting go of my hands and shaking out his body.
Michael started singing the lyrics to me and grabbing my hands running them down his chest making me laugh as he continued to dance and sing to his song.
He grabbed my hand, twirling me into his arms. He caught me by my hips and my back was pressed against his chest. I giggled feeling so happy and content as Michael made me sway with him as he sang in my ear.
"Teach me the ankle breaker," I said, turning around and holding onto his shoulders. He laughed, "You know how to do it!" he exclaimed. I laughed, "No I don't! You have to teach me please," I begged, poking out my lip.
He tried to hide his smile but I knew he was going to say yes because I was giving him the look I knew he couldn't say no to, "Please joker," I begged again. He rolled his eyes, finally smiling, "Fine, I'll teach you," he said and I cheered letting go so I could stand beside him.
