《Love and Despair || Human! Monokuma x Fem! Reader》|| Halloween Special ||

I walked down the crowded halls of Hope's Peak, finally relieved that school was over for the week. As I strolled upon the shiny tile, I could hear the chatter of some of my fellow students around me.
"What are you going to do tomorrow for Halloween?"
"I'm going to be a werewolf for Halloween this year! What about you?"
Ah, that's right; Halloween was tomorrow. I let out a groan. What was I going to do for Halloween? Maybe I could finally watch that pile of horror movies Junko gave me. Or perhaps I'll make a last-minute cheap costume to get free candy.
I walked out of my highschool and down the steps, contemplating what to do on Halloween. As I began to walk further away from the academy for gifted juveniles, a voice calling my name behind me caught my attention.
"Heya (Y/n)!" Monokuma screamed, jumping towards me. He jumped onto my back, hugging me tightly from behind. I nearly toppled over from the sudden action, but had luckily caught myself.
"Hey Monokuma," I giggled, ruffling the boy's hair. He kissed my cheek in response. He then proceeded to nuzzle my shoulder.
"Tomorrow is Halloween," stated Monokuma. "Do you have any plans?"
"Hmm, not really. I was just planning on watching a few movies-"
"Great! We should go trick-or-treating!"
"Aren't we too old to go trick-or-treating?"
"Uh, no! Sheesh (Y/n), don't say stupid things like that! There is absolutely no way we are too old," Monokuma objected, pulling away from the embrace. He placed one hand on his hip and used the other to point at me. "There is not a rule that we cannot trick-or-treat! So guess what? We're going trick-or-treating!"
"What? I don't even have a costume!" I protested.
"Don't be an idiot! I have costumes for us, of course," Monokuma stated. I raised an eyebrow. I then said, "it better not be some cheap couple costume..."
"Ugh, it's not. Who do you think I am?" Monokuma pouted. "I spent time looking for such lovely outfits! Pleaseeee? Let's go trick-or-treating together?"
"I'll think about it."
On Halloween the next day, I had spent a few hours watching some of the horror movies Junko had gifted me. It was currently late afternoon, almost evening, and I had gotten through a few of the movies. I was currently watching one about a killer that would make phone calls and murder in some sort of costume.
I was halfway through the movie when a knocking from my door interrupted. I sighed and paused the movie, making my way to the door. The knocking continued until I finally opened the door, revealing the person before me.
"Trick or treat!" Monokuma yelled, throwing his arms in the air. He was dressed as a vampire, huge fangs poking the bottom of his lip as he smiled.
The tuxedo Monokuma wore was black and had sloppy stitching in some areas to patch up a few tears upon the fabric. A loose red tie was hastily tossed around his neck; I couldn't tell if it was intentional or if he just didn't know how to tie a tie. He also had a large cape attached to his coat, the shimmery black material slightly dragging on the floor. To add to the overall vibe, his split-coloured hair was messy and his eyeliner was smudged.

"Isn't it a little early to be begging for candy?" I asked.
Monokuma frowned. "Man, you're so mean!"
I laughed and lead Monokuma inside. "Oh, shut up. I don't even have any candy to give you."
"What?! How do you not have candy? There must be some somewhere!" shouted Monokuma as he headed to my kitchen. He searched through my fridge, cabinets, and drawers in search of candy. "Aha! You do have candy!"
"What? Where?" I raised an eyebrow, walking over to Monokuma. He had found an old chocolate bar in a drawer full of miscellaneous things. "Monokuma, I never even go through that drawer. Who knows how old that chocolate is..."
"I'm gonna eat it!"
"Please don't eat it!-" I shouted, quickly grabbing the (most likely expired) candy. I checked the expiration date and sure enough, it was expired. I don't even remember putting this chocolate bar in there. I took the chocolate to the trash and tossed it away.
"Hey! I was gonna eat that!" Monokuma whined.
"You? Eat that? If you were to eat that then you wouldn't be able to go trick-or-treating tonight 'cus you would be sick," I commented. Monokuma's frowned faded into a smile. He shouted, "so you will go with me tonight to go trick-or-treating?"
I sighed. "I guess so..."
"Sweet! Let's go put on your costume!"
Ah...maybe I shouldn't have agreed to this...
I looked at myself in the mirror, staring at the costume Monokuma decided I should wear. It was a somewhat simple witch costume. The costume consisted of a white button-up with some ruffle trimming in the chest area and (a) black pants/shorts/skirt (whichever you are most comfortable with) that faded into a (f/c) gradient. Over that was a slightly oversized witch's robe that was a deep shade of black that faded into (f/c) at the bottom of it.
To finish off the look, I placed a large witch hat atop of my head. The hat matched the rest of the costume and pulled the entire thing together. I smiled a bit and walked out of the bathroom, calling for Monokuma.
I walked into the living room where I found Monokuma sitting on the floor, looking through my pile of horror movies. I crept up behind him, kneeling down and hugging him from behind. I looked over his shoulder at the movie he was currently looking at.
"This is the one with the killer in a costume that makes the phone calls, right?" Monokuma asks, showing me the cover of the film.
I pouted. "Yeah, I was in the middle of watching it before you intruded my home."
"You know, the killer ends up being-"
"Don't spoil it!" I screeched, lightly shoving Monokuma. He laughed at my actions, turning to face me.
Monokuma's eyes seemed to sparkle. "Woahhh, it looks great on you! Here, stand up." Monokuma stood up, lifting me off the ground as well. "Turn around."
I gave him a twirl, showcasing the entire outfit. Monokuma laughed, "I guess I kinda do have a good taste in clothing~"

"You dork," I giggled. Monokuma adjusted the hat on my head a bit. "Alright, perfect! Find something to hold your candy in when we go trick-or-treating."
I nodded, rushing to my room and grabbing a fairly large bag. I returned to Monokuma and asked, "what are you going to use?"
Monokuma smirked and pulled out a pillowcase from his pocket. It was folded neatly and small enough to actually fit in his pant pocket, but when he unfolded it he revealed it to be significantly larger than I interpreted.
"Alright then, if we're all ready, let's get going," I stated as I exited my home. Monokuma followed behind me with a large grin on his face. As soon as I walked out, I realized that it was now dark out; meaning it was the perfect time for trick-or-treating.
The street lights illuminated the path the both of us walked upon. Monokuma and I visited a few houses in the neighborhood, getting bits of candy from each neighbor. Some questioned why we were trick-or-treating at such an age, but we didn't care; we just wanted free candy.
It was starting to get late after a few hours of trick-or-treating, so we decided to hit one last house at the end of a driveway. The house looked somewhat tidy and had very few decorations. It wasn't very in the Halloween spirit; in fact, it looked like this person still had their Christmas lights up.
We walked up to the front, knocking on the wooden door that separated us from the person inside. An old woman answered the door, a scowl adorning her face.
"Trick-or-treat," I stated, holding out my bag. Monokuma also held his pillowcase out to the woman.
"What? You are too old to be trick-or-treating!" the woman shouted. I simply frowned and responded, "aren't you too old to be up this late? Why don't you go take a nap, meemaw?"
"Meemaw? Excuse me?"
"What? You said we were too old to trick-or-treat, so I implied that you were too old to say up this late. I'm sure you actually need to sit down since your bones are so brittle these days."
The old lady slammed the door in our face after that statement. Monokuma laughed, gripping his stomach from how hard he was laughing. I let out a chuckle myself as we both walked away from the house.
"Man, you really upset her, (Y/n)!" Monokuma exclaimed. His laughing ceased, replaced with slight coughing.
"She upset me first. How dare she call us too old to trick-or-treat?" I rolled my eyes.
"Hm, that's weird! The other day you questioned if we were too old for trick-or-treating and now you're upset that some old hag told us that?" Monokuma leaned closer to me, a smirk on his face. I looked away from him, ignoring his statement. Monokuma laughed and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "You're so cute (Y/n)!"
Once we arrived back to my house, Monokuma dumped his entire pillowcase of candy onto the living room floor. I sat on the couch, resuming the movie I was watching before we went out. Monokuma divided his candy into different piles: suspicious candy (that looked like it was poisoned or something), candy he doesn't like (which he would probably give to me), and candy he likes (that he will probably eat all of tomorrow). He chose a small lollipop from one of his piles and released it from its plastic wrapping, popping it in his mouth. Instead of savouring the treat, he just munched on the sugar to finish it quicker.
I was intrigued by the movie before me, watching as another person had gotten murdered by the killer. Once he was done with his sorting, Monokuma left his sorted candy on the ground to sit next to me on the couch.
"Is this the first or second movie?" he asked, slightly interested as he stared at the screen.
I gave a short reply, focusing my attention on the movie. "First."
Monokuma sighed, laying down and resting his head on my lap. He had his eyes closed as he whined, "I'm tired!"
"Shhhh, I'm trying to watch the movie..." I shushed him. Monokuma pouted, reaching up and poking my cheek. I swatted his hand away and that made him laugh a bit. The boy resting his head on my lap became more relaxed, starting to doze off a bit. I ran my hand through his hair, gently playing with it.
Monokuma hummed, "(Y/n)?"
"Yes?" I sighed, pausing the horror movie and looking down at the boy on my lap.
"Thank you for spending Halloween with me; I had fun. I love you very much."
I smiled, leaning down to kiss Monokuma's forehead. "I should thank you for inviting me out tonight. I love you too, much more than you think."
He reached his hand up, pressing it against the back of my head to pull me in for a kiss. Our lips collided softly in a sweet kiss. Once we parted, Monokuma yawned. "Don't move (Y/n)...you're comfy."
"Oi, don't fall asleep on me-"
"Too late~ I'm slipping away to dream land..."
"Hey!- if you fall asleep then I'll be trapped on the couch!"
Just as Monokuma said, he had slipped away into the embrace of slumber. I groaned and leaned my head back against the couch. I couldn't help but smile a bit and I glanced at my sleeping boy. A small giggle slipped past my lips.
"Ah, Monokuma...what am I going to do with you?"
