《Love and Despair || Human! Monokuma x Fem! Reader》|| Chapter Thirteen: Breakfast ||

"Good morning everyone! It is now 7 a.m., meaning nighttime is officially over! Rise and shine!"
I groan as I lift my head, peering over at the monitor. There it displayed Monokuma, him smiling at the camera with a juice box in his grasp. The monitor then switches off and leaves me staring at a black screen.
I slowly pulled myself out of my bed even though I still felt a bit tired. I rub my eyes and brush the hair away from my face. Although I had just woken up, the sound of my doorbell ringing filled my ears. I let out a small groan as I quickly fix up my hair before opening the door.
Taka stood there, a smile brought upon his features. "Good morning, (Y/n)! Another beautiful day, correct?"
I gaze up at the taller boy, tilting my head in confusion. "Yeah, I suppose so. What are you doing here?"
Taka then clears his throat, speaking, "you can overcome any storm when you have someone to support you, no matter how strong that storm may be! With that in mind, I was thinking about it last night and I have decided we need to come together! Every morning from now on after Monokuma's morning announcement, we should have breakfast together! Today is the day we will start that routine! Please come to the dining hall at your earliest convenience!"
I slowly nod in understanding. After that gesture, Taka nods and shouts, "now I must go inform the others!" before leaving for the dorm next to mine. I sigh and give a small roll of my eyes before I leave my dorm. I stretch out my arms as I walk to the dining hall. I could see that other students were also heading there, one of them being Junko.
"Hey, girl!" Junko shouts as she rushes over to me. "Morning Junko," I respond. Junko gives me a large grin as we both walk into the dining hall, multiple students already being there. Soon enough, Taka rushes into the dining hall after a group of more students walk in.
"Alright! It seems everyone has made it! Everyone take your seats and let us commence our very first "breakfast meeting"!" Taka yells loud enough for everyone to hear. Everyone sits down onto their own seat.
I sat between Junko and Hina at one of the large tables. Byakuya and Toko were seated at another smaller table while everyone else was at the large table where I was. There was a plate of breakfast in front of everyone in the room, each plate consisting of the same meal.
"Everyone! I would like to thank you for taking the time to come to this breakfast despite your busy schedules," Taka announces. "I know this has been said before, but I would like to make it clear again. To get out of here, we must all cooperate with each other! The first steps are these breakfasts where we will become friends and learn to trust each other! From now on, let's meet every morning after the morning announcement! Now, let's eat!"
"E-Eat breakfast? W-With other people? I'm not sure...I-I've never done that before," Toko stammers as she pokes her fingers together.

"Yeah, it's been a while since I've eaten breakfast with others!" Leon shouts as he stares at the plate of food in front of him.
"Well, has anyone come up with, like, any clues of this situation?" Junko questions, taking a bite of her toast once she finishes her statement. Silence echoed throughout the dining hall as no one spoke a word in response.
I let out a sigh as I began to munch on some of my breakfast. I smile in satisfaction as I eat, the food tasting great compared to the cereal I used to eat every morning.
"Ugh, seriously? Nothing at all?" Junko shouts. She glances around the room, yet no one let out a reply. "Anything at all? It can be on clues to get out, who's working with Monokuma, anything! No one has anything?"
"You are going to die," Celeste says to Junko. Celeste's blood red eyes were wide as she stared into Junko's blue eyes.
"What?!" Junko exclaims. Everyone, including me, stares at Celeste as we awaited an explanation of her outburst.
"If you can't stop yourself from showing such weakness in front of others, you will die," Celeste states before she drinks a bit of tea. Junko clenches her fists, yelling, "what the hell?! Don't joke about that!"
I look over at Junko, reading her expression. She had been my best friend for so long, so she was easy for me to read. Her eyes shone with fear and her face was contorted in one of uneasiness. This is the most scared I have ever seen Junko.
"Oh, I was not joking. The ability to adapt gives you a better chance of survival, did I not say so before?" Celeste clasps her hands together. "You best hurry up and adapt to your new life here or you might actually die."
"Are you insane? Adapt to my new life here? Do you have, like, any idea what you are actually saying?!" Junko furrows her eyebrows.
"Yeah! It sounds like the girl wants to fucking life here or some shit!" Mondo comments as he clenches his fists tightly. "Like, shit! No way in hell am I living in this place! I gotta get out of here, I don't give a shit!"
"Hm, feel free to try that out," Celeste mumbles.
"Okay! Anyways, no one had any clues at all?" Leon asks everyone in the room.
"Well, I can tell you that whoever is working with Monokuma is seriously messed up! Who would want to trap us here in the first place?!" Hina exclaims as she munches on a pancake.
"U-Um, in regards to someone who is really messed up, do you think the person responsible for this could be some sort of murderer or something?" Chihiro stammers as she clasps her hands together.
"Huh? Murderer? Chihiro, do you have an idea of who might be behind this?" I questions, moving my empty plate of breakfast aside.
"Well, possibly. I can't really say for certain-"
"Certainty is not an utmost concern right now! Please tell us whatever you may think could be helpful!" Taka shouts, cutting Chihiro off. Chihiro flinches at the sudden outburst, nodding soon after.

"A-Alright...have you heard of Genocide Jack?" Chihiro questions.
"Ah! You mean that serial killer that has been all over the news and internet?" I speak. Chihiro nods at me.
"The monstrous villain that murders many victims in an oddly brutal fashion..." Byakuya mutters as he crosses his arms. "They leave a message in the victim's own blood everytime...they strike without warning and disappear without a trace. On the internet they began to call them "Genocide Jack.""
"Damn, they say they've claimed hundreds of victims," Hiro gulps.
"Isn't that just an urban legend?" Junko questions.
The rest of the class begins to discuss the matter. I glance around the room, one person specifically catching my eye. Toko stands there in silence, biting her nail as her eyes remain wide.
"Anyways, whoever Genocide Jack is, they are obviously some sort of psychopath," Chihiro says as she rests a finger on her chin.
"I wouldn't be surprised if that mother-fucker was the one behind all of this if they are really that insane!" Mondo yells, his glare harshening.
I continue to glance over at Toko, acknowledging her strange behavior. She notices me staring, but instead of making a nasty comment, she simply turns her head away; how strange...
"It's okay everyone...I'm sure everything will be okay! Absolutely, positively, one thousand percent okie dokie!" Hina exclaims while pumping a fist. "I'm sure help is on the way! We've been missing for a few days, right? Someone out there has to be worried and calling the cops, right?"
Suddenly, a loud laugh erupts through the room. I freeze immediately, recognizing the laugh almost as soon as it left the person's mouth. Everyone stands from their seats in alarm as they turn to the person who has entered the room; that person being Monokuma.
"The police?! Seriously? You're putting your faith in the police?" Monokuma laughs. His hair fell into his face as he tilted his head, resting a finger on his chin. "Didn't I already say that the police wouldn't come help you the first day we all met?"
"What are you doing here?" Sakura questions as she glares down at Monokuma.
Ignoring the question, Monokuma then giggles. "Come on! You can't rely on the police in this situation! Us "bad guys" already came around and destroyed them! Are you sure you wanna rely on something that can't even help you anymore? Come on! If you really wanna leave, just kill someone!"
Hiro lets out a laugh at Monokuma's statement, leaving everyone in confusion. "Why are you laughing?!" I exclaim to Hiro.
"Ah, I'm just impressed by the commitment to this whole act thing!" Hiro shouts as he lets out another laugh.
"How are you still going on about that?!" Junko yells.
"Act?! How is this an act?" Monokuma pouts as he points at Hiro. "I spent a lot of time planning this killing game with the mastermind, ya know? And you treat it like an act!"
"Wait, what are you even doing here, psycho?!" Mondo screams at Monokuma. "We know who you really are!"
"Huh? You do? How? I'm just Monokuma! No one else!"
"No, we know who you are working with!"
"Maybe if I ignore you you'll go away..."
"Hey! Don't ignore me asshole!"
"Okay everyone! Back to business! Your life here has begun, a couple of days has gone by, yet no killing has started! What's up with that?"
"He ignored me!-"
"We aren't going to kill each other! That's just cruel!" Hina shouts.
"Aww, come on! Wait...I think I got it!" Monokuma snaps his fingers. "If I give you a motive, it's sure to guarantee some killing!"
"Motive? What are you talking about?" I question Monokuma. He grins at me and rushes over, embracing me.
"Aww, there's my favorite actress! You'll see sooner or later what I'm talking 'bout!" Monokuma informs me. I try to shove him away, shouting, "hey! Get off me!"
"Anyways," Monokuma lets go of me, "I have something to show you all! It's a video! It's a specific video for each individual student. You have to watch it to find out what it is! There is a specific room in the school for watching videos that has everything you need."
"That's great. So we can watch the videos right away?" Kyoko questions.
"Of course!-"
"And one question, Monokuma. What do you want from us? Why are we here?" Kyoko crosses her arms as she awaits an answer.
"Ah, that's simple!" Monokuma exclaims. His expression then goes dark as he stares up at Kyoko. "All I want from you is despair. That's all."
Soon enough, Monokuma's expression returns to normal. He grins and says, "if you wanna know more, you gotta figure that out yourself! Do whatever you need to uncover the mystery of this school, I won't stop you. To be honest with you, it's really fun seeing you all struggle to find answers!"
Everyone in the room glares at Monokuma, some glares harsher than the rest. It was completely silent until Kyoko broke that silence.
"So, you have no intention of blocking our way to the truth?" Kyoko asks the boy. Monokuma nods, replying, "nope! I am not gonna stop you from figuring out the truth! What fun would that be?"
"Ah, but regarding the videos, should we go watch them now?" Sakura asks Monokuma.
Monokuma's face lights up almost immediately. "Yes! The sooner the better! Everyone, go to the A/V room! You can watch the videos there. I'll take my leave now, goodbye!"
After Monokuma said that, he was gone.
Everyone glances at one another in silence. I then say, "should we go to the A/V room then?"
"Yeah...let's go, (N/n)," Junko says, grabbing my arm. The both of us walk out of the dining hall, leaving the other students behind. Soon after us, other students began to follow. We all began to walk to the A/V room where Monokuma told us we would be able to watch the videos.
After a bit of walking, Junko and I stood in front of the A/V room. We spare a glance at one another before I take the lead. I push open the door, the room ahead of us now revealed.
"Alright...let's go," I mumble as I step into the room.

UPDATES TUES/THURS after chapter 5 Cover art by Tumblr User: @pigeon-princess This book features characters that are related to in many ways to my other novel "Grimoire". While both stories are their own stand alone series, Sun God's Corruption will add a good amount of depth to Grimoire, and Grimoire shows the unfoldings of the world that will eventually come from the events in Sun God's Corruption. I reccomend reading them both interchangably.
