Y/n's point of view

Sunday morning, sitting under the tree at the park reading a book to pass the time. Shohoku's basketball team has a practice later today. Being to be able to practice is really lucky, because that incident almost got the whole team dismissed.

The sensei who was by the door asked the team to give a reasonable explanation. All of us were really can't think of anything, but then Mito-san spoke said that; Mitsui-senpai wanted to be out of their gang and return to the basketball team, they got mad that's why they got into a fight. Mito-san's reason was supported by Takamiya-san, Ookusu-san, and Noma-san. They were also supported by one of Mitsui's gangmate. In conclusion, Mito-san and the others took the blame and they are suspended for 3 days.

There's only a week before the tournament, everyone is working hard despite the injury the other players have.

"Come on, let's go." I look up and see Kaede-kun reaching his hand at me. "We don't want to be late now do we?" He asked.

I put my book inside my bag ang grab his hand and stand. "Yeah, come on. I also don't want to get yelled at."

At practice

Everyone is working hard both on their defense and offence. Mitsui-senpai cut his long hair. He let go of his criticism and arrogance to re-join the basketball team again. Get the rest of the team to accept him, he probably needs some time to fill these 2 years of not playing basketball is going to be hard, but I think he can do it and he'll become an important part of Shohoku.

Mitsui-senpai shoots the ball, he successfully scored.

'Well, I guess when you really have the talent to play basketball, you really won't forget it.' I thought, impressed by Mitsui-senpai's shot.

Sakuragi now has the ball and do a commoner shot.

The gym door open. "Hello guys! I brought you guys some drinks!" Haruko-chan greeted, hugging the plastic bag to her chest.

"Haruko-chan!" Sakuragi yelled and went in front of her. "Did you just see me?! Genius Sakuragi's spectacular performance under the basket!"

Akagi-senpai punched the back of the head of Sakuragi. "Stupid! It didn't go in!"

Me and Ayako-senpai made our way beside Sakuragi. "Haruko, you're so thoughtful!" Ayako-senpai praised.

I take the plastic bag in her hand. "Thank you so much Haruko-chan!" I said and smiled at her.

"Tournament's about to start!" Haruko said and turned to Sakuragi. "Have some Sakuragi-kun." She then turns to the court. "How's everyone doing?!"

"Just watch genius Sakuragi's genius performance!" Sakuragi said while scratching the back of his neck smiling widely.

"Rukawa-kun sure is in high spirits." Haruko-chan said with hearts in her eyes after Kaede-kun dunked.

Kaede-kun look at Sakuragi. "Don't be lazy! Dou ahou!"

"Damn! Rukawa!" Sakuragi exclaimed.

There's little time left before the opening games of the preliminaries.

Third person's point of view

Shohoku's star players:

Number 4: Akagi Takenori (3rd year) 197cm 90kg Position: Center

Number 7: Miyagi Ryouta (2nd year) 168cm 59kg Position: Point Guard

Number 11: Rukawa Kaede (1st year) 187cm 75kg Position: Forward

Number 14: Mitsui Hisashi (3rd year) 184cm 70kg Position: Offensive Forward

"Shohoku against Miduradai High's game is about to start" The referee announced.

The game starts, Kogure has the ball. At the bleachers, Ryonan's captain Uozumi is confused at the first five players of Shohoku because he saw Rukawa at the bench.

At the bench,

"Yo gramps, you're not thinking of making me be the secret weapon again. Not letting me play for such a long time?!" Sakuragi said while sending glares at their coach.

"You guys were fighting, so I'm punishing all of you." Anzai-sensei stated.

Sakuragi, Rukawa, Mitsui, and Miyagi is shock and nervous in their coach's statement.

Sakuragi stands and face the three. "Gramps is actually mad! Think of something!" Sakuragi yelled at them. "Mit-chi! Come to think of it was all your fault!" Sakuragi called at Mitsui.

Mitsui also stands and face Sakuragi. "You lousy mannered bastard! Calling Anzai-sensei gramps?!" Mitsui yelled back.

Miyagi also stands and face Sakuragi. "Actually, you should be sitting here! According to your skills." Miyagi said to Sakuragi.

"What did you just say Ryou-chin?!" Sakuragi yelled.

"Three idiots." Rukawa sighed as he is the only one sitting among them.

The three turned their angry face towards Rukawa. "Huh?! Rukawa!" They angrily yelled and made their way in front of Rukawa.

"You were the one who started it! You hot-tempered guy!" Mitsui yelled.

"Always think you're so good!" Sakuragi yelled.

"You talk to your sempais like that!?" Miyagi yelled.

"Three idiots..." Rukawa repeated.

"Now's not the time to fight!" Ayako shouted at them.

"Umm, just so you know, fighting right now isn't going to solve it ether." Y/n added.

Their arguing stopped when Akagi did not block a commoner shot from the opposing team.

Miduradai players started to talk about their goal being number one and defeating Kainan and talking bad about Ryonan High. Uozumi heard their conversation and shouting at Akagi to defeat Miduradai.

Back to the game, Akagi has the ball, he is guarded by 3 players. As Akagi jump to shoot, Miduradai's number 4 jumps attempting to block him but...

"Charging! Black (Miduradai) number 4!" The referee yelled.

Akagi successfully made his foul shot. "Everybody, hold your positions! Stop them from shooting!" Akagi instructed to his teammates. But sadly, the Miduradai scored.

"Oh no! What are they doing!?" Ayako murmured while writing in Y/n's notebook. Y/n is instructed by her senpai that she is to give the players their drinks and towels during timeouts.

"All of you! Learnt your lessons?" Anzai-sensei spoke. This alert the four. "Won't fight anymore?"

"Gramps!" "Sensei."

Sakuragi stands up and started to play with his sensei's chin. "Gramps! I'm a pacifist! Why would I fight?!" Sakuragi excitedly said.

"Stop that!" Mitsui yelled at Sakuragi.

"I won't." Miyagi said.

"Maybe." Rukawa said.

"I never will." Mitsui said.

"Shohoku member change!" Referee announced.

Sakuragi, Rukawa, Mitsui, and Miyagi finally made their way to the court.
