《The Journey Home》16 - Decisions

You know that cliche scene in movies in which the guy wakes up before the woman and they're staring down at the sleeping woman next to them? They are so consumed in watching how peaceful she looks that he doesn't notice the time ticking by and it doesn't bother him?

Well, turns out that shit is cliche for a reason.

Eileen looked peaceful, her face that typically showed constant worry was relaxed. Of course, that was to be expected after the constant workouts we had throughout the night. She'd given herself to me so freely, I could see it in the way that she looked at me. In the way that she called out my name.

I hardened just thinking about it.

I placed a kiss at the tip of her nose, then on her cheeks as her eyes slowly fluttered open. Her lips tilted up to a small smile and I gave her one of my own.

"Good morning Eileen," I whispered.

"Morning Alex." She glanced at the time and sat up abruptly. "I need to check on Angie, I-"

"I already did," I said.

Knowing that she'd probably worry about Angela, I had woken up to check on her. She was still deep asleep in the room across the hall. Eileen seemed to relax and as much as I wanted to have her once again, I knew she must be hungry. She didn't have dinner yesterday after all, so I was determined to feed her something.

I was glad we'd picked up clothes for the both of them the day before. It made it easier for Eileen to spend the day here even when I knew I wouldn't get shit done with work. She was too much of a distraction.

"Get dressed," I told her. "I'll go downstairs and get some breakfast ready."

Eileen nodded, reaching up for a kiss.

After putting on some sweatpants and brushing my teeth, I went downstairs, finding Luke already drinking a cup of coffee. His eyes were bloodshot and he glared at me as soon as he saw me. It was obvious that he was not in a good mood.

"Hey man, you're up early."

"I've been up all fucking night," he muttered angrily. "A warning would have been nice, you know?"

"What are you talking about?" I asked, pouring a cup of coffee for myself.

"It's like you were making a fucking porno last night."

I spit out the coffee I had begun drinking. He had better not say that in front of Eileen. Knowing that he had no filter, however, I somehow doubted that he would know to keep his mouth shut.

"I mean, you never bring women here so when I heard, well, you know, I was like whatever, let him have his fun. But then an hour later again? And then a couple hours later more, damn. I was praying to go deaf."

"Well, uh, just shut up. You can bitch about it later."

"It's not like your girl is still here. You'd never let-"

Eileen walked into the kitchen, causing Luke's mouth to fall open. A roar of laughter erupted throughout the kitchen, as Luke struggled to control himself. Sometimes I wonder why I keep him around.

Now would be a good time to shove something in it so he'd shut the fuck up.

"Holy shit! It was Eileen, oh fuck.. You and Eileen?"

Eileen blushed, biting her lip out of embarrassment.

"Greet her properly, Luke," I said, giving him a harsh glare.

He chuckled, shaking his head.

"Good morning Eileen. I would ask how you slept but, well, we know you didn't get much of that done."

I would have punched the asshole in the face had it not been for Eileen standing there. And for the way she placed her small hand in mine.

"Good morning Luke," she finally said, after her initial shock faded. "Judging by the mug of coffee you have there I think it's safe to say you were enjoying the show too much to get any sleep, so I guess we're on the same boat."

My jaw dropped.

I knew there was a reason why I was so attracted to her. If Luke was making such a huge deal about this I could only imagine everything that Addie would have to say. I also wondered if Angie heard her mother and I...

Poor thing would be scarred for life.

Eileen ignored Luke and drank coffee out of my cup. She seemed comfortable around the both of us despite her initial reservations. And Lucas already cared for her and Angie, which was a relief. After several minutes had passed in silence, the tiny footsteps that all but ran downstairs ended it. Angie ran to her mother, causing her to break out in a fit of laughter.

That laugh.

"Alex! This is your house? It's so pretty!" Angie hugged me and then ran to Luke, hugging him as well.

That little girl knows how to wrap everyone around her tiny little finger.

We ate breakfast together, except for Addie who apparently didn't get much sleeping either. It was surprisingly comfortable having Eileen and Angie here, almost as if they'd been here the whole time. How did I never notice how empty this house was?

After breakfast, Eileen went upstairs to help Angie change into the set of clothes they'd brought along yesterday. Once again, Luke began his talking.

"I'll have to move out soon, won't I?" He asked.

"No. But if you keep opening your mouth you might."

"Ah, I can just picture it," he said with a smile. "You chasing after Angie and all those pretty little children-"

"Woah, who said anything about children?" I asked, slightly afraid that conversation had been brought up. Hell, Eileen and I hadn't even discussed a relationship.

Though, by the several times we didn't use protection I should have pushed away the fear of children that could possibly be forming that very moment.

"Well, you've pretty much adopted Angela. You're fucking crazy over Eileen. It only makes sense you have some of your own," Luke said with a shrug.

Huh.

"Plus, the fact that you're not running straight for the hills at the mention of your potential offspring speaks for itself." Luke stood up and placed a single hand on my shoulder. "You my friend, the previous manwhore, are officially pussywhipped."

Second night in his bed.

What does this mean?

The question was running through my mind like a broken record. Even if this meant we were in a relationship, I hadn't a clue as to how that worked. I was thankful that despite last night's activities, Alex didn't behave over the top in front of Angie. I didn't want her to get her hopes up. She was just a child and for them, everything was beautiful roses until they poked their finger with the thorns.

"What are you thinking?" Alex asked as he laid on his side resting his head on his hand.

I turned around, facing him after another heated session of lovemaking (because I couldn't call it just sex).

"Us," I said. "I've never really done this before, it's all new to me. I don't know what to expect, considering that we're not even in a relationship."

Alex nodded, placing a lock of hair behind my ear, something I noticed he liked to do.

"Me neither," he confessed with a sigh. "I don't do relationships, Eileen. I never have."

I felt the knife stabbing and twisting inside me, but did my best to hide it. I forced a smile and nodded while we remained silent for what seemed an eternity. It was dumb to think that someone like him could ever be interested in anything serious with me.

Though he was wealthy, he didn't flaunt his wealth around other than his car and his expensive clothes. He was humble and treated everyone with respect. Perhaps that's what won me over, him and his caring ways.

"Does it bother you?" He asked bringing my attention back to him. "Not being in a relationship?"

"Well, I don't feel comfortable sleeping with you knowing that maybe the next day you may sleep with someone else." It hurt too much to admit that there was a chance he may indeed do that, but I was going to be honest at least with this part.

"I haven't been with anyone in a while. Every time I've tried this feisty woman with dark hair and the most captivating brown eyes would pop into my head."

His confession made me smile and he leaned down to kiss me. I whimpered softly as he nipped at my lower lip.

"I'm not seeing anyone else and I won't, not as long as I'm with you," he said quietly. "And if what you need is to call this a relationship, so be it. I don't know much about them but I know the basics which is not to fuck around, and I won't. Would you like that, Eileen? For me to say that you're my girlfriend?"

Yes.

"I don't want you to feel forced-"

"Oh, love," he said, guiding my hand to his hardened member. He might have problems with relationships but there is definitely no problems in that department. "Does this seemed forced to you?"

I shook my head, speechless.

"Okay," he said, his lips grazing underneath my ear, a place where we'd discovered I liked to be kissed. "Now, let's go another round, yes?"

I let out a breathless "yes" before he began kissing me. Just as he was settling on top of me though, his phone begun ringing. He ignored it at first, but when it began once again he cursed, pulling away from me. He frowned when he saw who was calling.

"It's Marty.." He said as he picked up.

Marty never bothered calling anyone unless there was problems, much less so late at night. Alex was serious as they spoke, listening to what appeared to be a distressed Mary based off of how many times he had to tell him to calm down. He concluded by telling Marty that he would be there shortly.

"What's wrong?" I asked, sitting up on the bed.

"The computer system has been hacked," he said with fury evident in his voice. "Those fuckers drained Marty's bank accounts."
