《The Boy in Black》1

He noticed her on day one of his own personal hell. He noticed her slumping back in her squeaky chair a few seats in front of him after seeing a red D marked on her test paper.

He watched as she stared at the letter as if it would somehow magically turn into an A, and he chuckled lightly to himself while shoving his paper with his usual red F and personal note from the instructor telling him to stay after class for not circling a single answer.

How could he though? How could he possibly work on pointless assignments while the girl he would fall in love with sat just a few seats from him. That was a a few months ago, though. And ever since then he found an interest in watching her. It happened fast, too fast. It gave him whiplash at how fast he felt his heart beat for someone other than himself.

"Mattie, would you read the first paragraph for us please?" Mr. Hopkins had asked her as the boy in blacks eyes shifted to the girl wearing her usual oversized tee, leggings and chucks.

That was the first time he had ever heard her name. And with a quick search, he had found her full name: Mattie Noelle.

He would dream of that name. He would even whisper it to himself as he looked through his window as she danced to the music that her mother would have a panic attack over if she had seen her innocent daughter dancing to it.

Her innocent daughter. He laughed at the thought, remembering the way that she'd explore her body under the covers almost every single night. He memorized the way her cheeks would turn pink when she would touch that certain spot, he memorized the way she looked when she moaned, lips parted and eyebrows scrunched together. The way she-

"Jaxson Maddox, head up please." He heard Mr. Hopkins ask while tapping his pointer finger upon his desk. Jaxson rose his head up seconds afterward, and pushed his messy black hair up and off of his forehead as he noticed the class looking in his direction.

"What?" He snapped at his classmates, feeling the hell within himself instantly extinguish as he caught sight of Mattie Noelle softly smiling at him. He swallowed his fear and grinned in her direction, causing her cheeks to flush and head to turn back around towards the front of class.

He knew then that her eyes were green. Green became his new favorite color.

"Cool it, Maddox." Mr. Hopkins mumbled in his direction just as the bell rang, addressing that school was finally over.

He loved hearing that bell, he loved it because it meant that he could go to his house with the large oak tree in the front that covered the sun, leaving the darkness to cover him at all times just like he wanted it too. Just like it was meant too.

Jaxson's parents were deceased, leaving his well to do uncle to pay the bills each month without even having to live there. Jaxson hated him, but needed his money so he could stay under the roof of the dark house to look at the girl that he loved each day.

He watched Mattie as she scrambled to pick up two thick textbooks on her desk, but failed as one of them slid from her fingertips and onto her foot. Jaxson was quick to stand up as she let out a soft yelp, and the sound broke him silently.

He bent over, picking the book up and placing it back into her hands. He was hesitant to look at her from this close, for he was afraid that he would fall from being too weak at the knees. As she thanked him with pain still laced in her voice, he gave in and looked up into her deep emerald eyes that reminded him of the leaves from the oak tree at his home in the summer.

"Are you alright?" He asked, letting the fact that it was his first time ever talking to the girl that he loved sink in slowly.

"Well, I do ballet and I kind of need my foot, so no." Mattie smiled and shook her head, still looking down at her foot with blood filling her cheeks.

Jaxson wanted to say that he knew that she did ballet, he wanted to say that she danced beautifully, but he could not tell her that he's watched her from her bedroom window for very obvious reasons.

He pushed the thought from his head and took a moment to admire her beauty from being so close. So close that he could softly inhale the scent of vanilla that stuck to her milky skin, the skin that he dreamt of placing soft kisses upon before later leaving his mark so that everyone would know she was his.

"Well- thank you again Jaxson." Mattie smiled a simple smile at him and pressed her books tightly to her chest so they would not fall again, and began walking away.

He buckled at the knees at the way his name fell from her lips. It was everything he has dreamed of, and he wanted to hear it so much more. He wanted desperately to make her moan his name, to make her scream it so that everybody knew who made her feel that way.

"Wait!" Jaxson found himself yelling out for her. She turned her head with curiosity captivating her beautiful features. He knew not of why he was calling out to her, he just knew he didn't want to see her go. Not ever.

"I- I would love to see you dance sometime." Jaxson stuttered, watching as the girl with the mossy green eyes smile a shy smile. He noticed then that she had chocolate brown freckles scattered across her nose. He couldn't wait to kiss them. He walked closer to her, noticing that she was becoming visibly nervous.

"I don't think you would find it that interesting."

"I highly doubt that." Jaxson replied, placing his arm beside her head as her back pressed against the nearest lockers. Her lips were parted and her books were pressed tightly to her chest, and he found himself growing envious of the books.

"It's just boring ballet." She whispered, now looking to her feet. He took a moment to take in her scent now that he was so close to her. He admired the way her minty breath fanned across his face slightly as she talked. It made him want to have her talking constantly just so he could listen to her sweet voice and memorize her sweet scent.

Mattie turned to look at Jaxson's arm that was beside her head, and watched as his fairly large bicep flexed as he leaned closer to her, so close that she could practically feel the heat radiating from his tanned skin.

She swallowed her fear just for that moment, and reached into her pocket to retrieve a black pen. She hesitantly grabbed Jaxson's large hand with her small one and began scratching her phone number across his scarred skin. His pulse quickened as she did so, but her warm and gentle touch calmed his nerves.

"Does this mean I might get to witness your boring ballet sometime?" Jaxson asked, feeling her touch linger even after she had let go of his hand. Mattie covered her mouth as she giggled, another act of shyness and insecurity that he had noticed over time while watching her.

"Wait, we have like three classes together don't we?" Mattie asked, standing up straighter after he had taken his arm away from beside her head.

And lunch, and I am your next door neighbor. Oh, and I am falling deeply in love with you and watch you dance in your bedroom, he thought to himself.

"Yeah, we do." Jaxson replied just as the schools intercom sounded from the speakers in the ceiling.

"Mattie Noelle, please report to the office, your mother is here." A woman's voice spoke just as Mattie's eyes widened.

"Oh my god," She said with flaming cheeks, "Could she not have waited ten freaking minutes?" Mattie grumbled, getting out her phone to text her mother that she was on her way out.

"I'm sorry, I have to go."

"Oh, okay." Jaxson's heart sank at the realization that she was leaving, and he bit the inside of his cheeks to keep himself from saying another word in attempt to keep her with him.

Be patient, he thought.

"Don't forget I want to see your boring ballet!" He hollered just as she turned her head with that beautiful smile that lit up the entire room as well as himself. Himself that was so dark inside as well as outside, himself that craved the girl that danced in her bedroom and blushed as the boy in black sent her back a wide grin.

This was more than just a simple craving, it was a desperate need.

"I won't forget." Mattie Noelle replied with her ponytail swaying back and forth as she walked, and he swore that she was still smiling as she traveled down the dimly lit corridor that seemed to light up with each step she took. He was smiling as well, and that was something truly rare, something that only she could accomplish.

He watched as her mother yelled at her through her bedroom window. He could not hear anything, but he saw the way she pointed her skinny finger at her daughter with squinted eyes and pinched brows. Mattie had her arms crossed against her chest, and only said a few things to her mother before the woman exited the room, slamming the door.

He watched as Mattie slumped on the edge of her bed, arms still crossed. She appeared to be crying, and it broke Jaxson to see.

He clenched his jaw and looked away, not baring the sight before raising his hand to see her phone number still written across his skin.

Jaxson was quick to pull out his cellphone and type in the number, he was quick to press the green call button that he feared so much but could not help but press, and he hoped that she would be quick to answer.

He watched with his phone pressed to his ear at Mattie and how she pulled her phone from her pocket. She squinted at the bright screen, and wiped her tears with the back of her sleeve afterward with a small but noticeable smile. A smile that he instantly replicated.

"Hello?" He read her lips from the window while also hearing her sweet voice pouring from his speaker.

"Hey." Jaxson replied, smiling wider as he watched her lay back on her bed, a sight he would love to see if he were on top of her.

"You called at a good time, my mother is not happy with me." She said with a hint of sadness in her voice from her earlier crying.

"Just from staying a few extra minutes?" He scoffs.

"She is really overprotective, she expects me to be in her car five minutes after the bell rings. No less." She chuckled lightly, and he traced his finger on his window as if he were touching her soft cheek.

It took only a minute to realize that he was completely silent, too busy watching her on her bed to speak, for he was simply at a loss for words.

Her shirt was drawn higher up her body, showing the way her legs looked in her black leggings. He imagined spreading her thick legs, and the thought made him hard all too quickly.

"You there?" Mattie looked at her phone screen, making sure he was still on the line.

"I'm here." Jaxson replied, licking his lips as she stood up off of her bed and made way towards her dresser.

A comfortable silence passed through the line as he watched her every move.

"Hey, can I ask you something?" She asked suddenly and pulled out a black tank top from her dresser drawers.

His jeans became tighter against him as she put her phone on speaker and slid her shirt over her head, revealing her breasts that were pooling from her Turquoise bra.

"Sure." Jaxson croaked, coughing afterward in an attempt to conceal it. She slid the tank top over her head and pulled the rubber band from her hair, letting the brown waves fall down her back like a chocolate waterfall.

"Why did you suddenly start talking to me?" Mattie sat on the end of her bed, pressing her phone back to her ear while anxiously biting a fingernail, awaiting an answer.

Jaxson didn't know what to say, he wanted to say that he's always wanted too, but how could he? How could he without admitting that he's been awaiting a simple chance for almost five months? How could he without admitting that he was always too nervous to talk to her? How could he without admitting that he was starting to love her so much that the thought of talking to her scared him, for she could walk away at any time.

"You interest me." Jaxson said, biting his lip from being slightly nervous at what her reaction would be until he saw her lips grow into a smile. Her earlier tears were now completely dry.

Jaxson sucked in a breath as he watched her start to slide the tight leggings down her thighs, revealing her bare ass in a thong that matched her bra. He began to fist the front of his jeans that were growing tighter by the second, and became speechless at how breathtaking her body was.

"How so?" The girl that everyone called innocent asked in a voice that only he wanted to hear, a seductive voice that had him breathing heavier with each passing second, and it took him everything he had to not go over to her bedroom to show her just how much she interested him.

Patience, he reminded himself. For all good things come to those who wait.
