My eyes sprang open when I felt a sudden twinge in my stomach. I moved the pillow that lay between my knees and rolled onto my back.

I felt that sharp pain again, but it hurt a lot more than the first. "Mommy's trying to sleep, guys. Can we just relax for a few more hours?"

I pressed my hand against the sides of my belly to hopefully calm them down. After a minute or two, I felt nothing and went back to sleep.

"Aah!" I sat up abruptly and accidentally smacked a sleeping Nick next to me.

"Wha—?! I'm up!" He sat up and rubbed his eyes, finally looking at me.

"What's wrong?"

"I-I don't know, they're moving around a lot, it's never actually hurt this much— AH!" I grip his arm, he flinched but uses his other hand to hold mine.

"Oh, shit." I let go of his arm and felt liquid drip from between my legs, the sheets under me went damp and I slowly turned to look at Nick.

"They're coming, Nick." He doesn't move, only his eyebrows raise.

"Nick, they're coming! Stop fucking around," I cry out in pain again, moving away from him.

"Right! Okay, let's see... we need—" he rolls out of bed and pulls a pair of sweatpants on before tripping and falling on the air. "Ah!"

"What is wrong with you?!" I let out another strained groan as I slowly turned to get out of bed. "Guys, please let mommy get to the hospital." I rub my belly before slipping on my furry slippers.

"I'm sorry, sorry, okay I've got your bag. I'm gonna get the rest of our stuff and put it in the car then come back up to get you, okay?" He reaches over and palms the side of my face.

"Okay." I nod with my eyes squeezed tight, he kisses my forehead and dashes to the car.

"Hee hee, hoo hoo, hee hee, h— OH GOD!" I slowly drop to my knees and cry, holding my stomach. "No, no, not yet."

I try to stand up again but nearly crack my head open, I decide to stay on the ground and cry. "Nick! W-where are you?! I-I think it's really time!" I wipe my face and kneel by the side of the bed, gripping the sheets tightly.

I hear his feet practically stomp up the stairs and he kneels down in front of me. "Okay, okay, lets get you in the car." I move out of his grip and remain on the floor.

"No, the babies are coming now!" I open my eyes and stare at his horrified face. "C-call the doctor now, you idiot!" I let out another low groan, holding my stomach with one hand.

He gets up and fiddles with my phone, finally calling him. "H-hey, doc! It's early, huh? Um, so it seems—"

"Get to the point!" I swat at his leg.

"Sarah's in labor!" I try my breathing techniques again, squeezing my eyes shut.

"How far apart are her contractions? Yikes, um, have you been counting, tesoro?" I look up at him with my tearful eyes narrowed down to slits.

"Yeah, I don't think she's been counting, doc." I feel another contraction coming and decide to give an estimate.

"I-I think they're around five or four minutes apart." I inhale and exhale harshly, feeling sweat fall from my brow.

He repeats what I said over the phone and his eyes bug out of his head from what the doctor says. "Now?! Oh god!" He runs downstairs and I silently curse him.

"What the hell? Where the shit are going?!" I grip the sheets in my hand tighter, wish I could through a basketball at his head.

"Just a second, love!" He comes back when I have another contraction with a bunch of towels, gloves, blankets, scissors, alcohol, and a thermometer. "I have no fucking clue what I'm doing, Doctor Maddox is going to talk me through this. Let's get you on the bed, okay?" I let out a cry as I move on to the bed.

"It hurts so bad, Nick." My shoulders shake as I sob into his shoulder.

He kisses my forehead, "you can do this, Sarah. You're so strong, okay? Think about the babies, think about their names." I nod and lean back onto the bed, inhaling and exhaling.

"Hi, Sarah. How are you doing?" I hear the doctor's voice call out to me from the phone.

"Doctor Maddox, I feel like like I'm dying." He chuckles lowly at my answer.

"As expected. The ambulance is on the way, but I doubt they'll get there in time. Dominick, can you check and see if you can see one of the baby's heads?"

Nick gives me a quick glance and rolls my nightgown up. He pulls my panties off that were completely soaked from when my water broke. I bend my knees and he leans down to look.

He pops his head back up, his eyes nearly popping out of his head.

"I-I see th-the head!" He seemed a bit nauseous, as he turned to look down at the phone.

"Okay. Sarah, in a second? You're going to go ahead and push and then stop. Dominick, are your gloves on? Do you have sterile scissors ready and a blanket near you?"

"Yes, done, done, and done."

"Alright, you're going to gently— very gently— glide the first baby out as she pushes, okay?" Nick nods and then verbally agrees.

"Push, Sarah, now." I reach to put my hands around the back of my knees, screaming as I push. Vaguely, I hear Nick yelling nearly as loud as me.

I stop pushing and fall back with a sigh. "What do you see, Dominick?" Doctor Maddox asks Dominick once it goes silent again.

"The baby's head is completely out!"

"Okay, Sarah hang on, okay? You can do this in two more pushes! Push!" I push, gritting my teeth, crying at the pain.

"One more push, Sarah! She's almost out!" I push once more, groaning and falling back.

"Once the baby is out and you've cut the umbilical cord, count until the second baby comes out, Dominick so we can get their time apart."

"She's beautiful, Sarah." I hear a loud squeal of a cry, tears of pain and joy leave my eyes.

I can't even open my eyes, but I smile widely. "She..."

"I know you're tired, Sarah, but you've got one more to go. Dominick, once that baby is wrapped up, see where the second one is at."

I feel him put his weight back onto the bed, "I can see the baby's head."

"Alright, just like before, Sarah push as hard as you can and then stop." I shake my head weakly, completely exhausted.

"I can't, I'm so tired." I feel my body go limp as I speak.

"No, no, Sarah, come on! You have to push so you can get both of your babies out into the world. Don't you want to hold both of them in your arms?" I squeeze my eyes shut, my bottom lip trembling.

"I do," I prop my knees up again, gripping the back of them, I push once more, screaming as I do.

"One more, Sarah, push!"

"Urge!" I groan through my gritted teeth and fall back onto the bed in relief when I hear that high pitched cry.

"He's out! It's a boy!" I distantly hear him laughing in joy, moving things around.

I pry my eyes open as Nick brings both babies wrapped in blankets to me. "They're so tiny," I coo and shift so I can hold them close to me.

"The ambulance is here, baby. I'll be right back, okay?" I nod and feel the tears drop from face, they both had heads full of dark hair.

"Dakota and Dominic. Hi, I'm your mama." I whisper and sniffle, kissing both of their foreheads.

Their hands flail about, Dakota touches my face while Dominic let's out a cute little yawn. I smile and let my head fall back, quickly falling asleep.
