Song Qinghan peered inside at the room, and he found that the treatment was better than he expected, not to mention the subordinates serving him. Just at the sight of the arrangement and display, he knew that some painstaking efforts must have been made to construct such a magnificent project. There were numerous gadgets within which were even priceless, and probably Mork was the only one who was able to display them randomly because he was the master of the entire region.
The man left after mentioning Song Qinghan some instructions, but just before he left, he seemed to be quite reluctant to bid farewell to Little Shitou, he turned his head frequently only to catch Little Shitou in the sight. But to his surprise and disappointment, Little Shitou seemed trying to be the most heartless baby in this world not giving any response to the man at all. Instead of responding the ‘wink’ the man made, he stretched forth his arms, babbling to Song Qinghan alone.
Song Qinghan was a bit uncomfortable there, while his belly was twitching. But he just did not show any negative emotions but attempted to endure it.
As the man disappeared in sight, he ordered the servant to get him a basin of warm water. And after the warm bath, he finally got the peace to carry Little Shitou onto bed and helped him change the diaper, and peacefully, drifted to sleep together.
After waking up, Song Qinghan opened his eyes and found that the pain in his lower abdomen had finally ceased. He finally came to be at ease in mind. Just at the moment he was about to bend to pick the shoes and get ready to go out, the servant aside approached and whispered in his ear, “Childe, His Highness invites you to have breakfast with him.”
Song Qinghan paused, not understanding what Moke was trying to do. But he knew that since he was right now staying in the other’s nest, he had to be obedient and well-behaved. “Alright then.” he answered without further hesitation, and then carried Little Shitou in his arms, “Lead the way please.”
After analyzing the route within the underground palace while the servant was leading the way, he realized that it was impossible for him to keep every single road constructing by various intricate routes within it, so he simply gave up the act of recognizing the road and followed behind the servant without fear.
As soon as they entered magnificent dining chamber, a servant who seemingly came from nowhere took the initiative to reach out and pick up Little Shitou.

Song Qinghan frowned and was about to speak when he heard Moke’s voice coming from above.
“Pass me the milk, and I will feed him myself.”
The servant withdrew his hand and came to grasp the bottle of lukewarm milk from the corner, and then placed it on the table in front of Mork.
Song Qinghan chuckled and handed Little Shitou to Mork. Noticing that the so-called king of a barbarian kingdom reached out to carry Little Shitou meticulously, he came to utter in disbelief, “Well, I think I should thank my son though, I am honored as well since he is blessed here.”
To his surprise, Moke looked up at him and answered with a faint smile, “Ha, I don’t think so. You are his femina father, so that means without you he might never exist in this world. But by the way, I must admit that I have never seen a kid who is clever like this little one, well, he even knows how to distinguish bad from good!”
While saying so, he held up the bottle loaded with milk and put it around Little Shitou’s mouth. And he couldn’t help but smile when he noticed that Little Shitou was staring at him for quite a long while before opened his mouth.
Song Qinghan didn’t say anything, he simply picked up the bowl and chopsticks and had breakfast by himself.
Seeing that he didn’t even frown as he picked up the sporadically blood-stained pieces of meat, Mork felt quite a bit strange himself as he laughed lightly, “Hey, not mean to bother your breakfast but I still need to remind you a bit, the meat is made by the flesh of the man you stabbed to death yesterday. How is it? Is it divine and fresh?”
Song Qinghan did not even blink his eyes at all as he heard the words of Mork, but after that he answered, “I am not that stupid having no ability to distinguish human flesh and beef, especially for the one which still has some blood on it.”
Without bothering to look at Mork’s face after his statement, he opened his mouth and viciously tore off the shredded meat, deliberately letting the bright red and bloody juices drip slowly down the sides of his mouth as if he was drinking blood.
Little Shitou who sat right in the arms of Mork did not feel frightened at all. Instead of being scared, he clapped his chubby hands, while giggling, “Femi Daddy good! GOOD!”
Song Qinghan laughed in embarrassment, stuck out his tongue and licked the juice off his lips, and continued eating as if nothing had happened.

Mork just stared at Song Qinghan who was putting on a harmless expression. He could feel his understanding toward the whole world was slowing collapsing.
“Distinguish human flesh and beef, especially the one with blood”? What did that mean? Should it mean that Song Qinghan had tasted not only beef with blood on, but also human flesh with blood on?
At this time, Moke completely forgot that he was the one who claimed that the meat was made by human flesh. Dumbfounded and absent-minded, he was holding the bottle feeding Little Shitou.
Noticing that Mork had long sunk into an abnormal silence, Song Qinghan took a glance at him in calmness. He found it was rather amusing that Mork somehow had stuck into a dreadful emptiness with the empty bottle in his hand zoning out after he finished feeding Little Shitou.
He stretched out his chopsticks and tapped on the bowl. And it was not until Mork finally came back to his senses and withdrew his gaze from the emptiness did Song Qinghan attempt to raise his chin slightly to the direction of Little Shitou. He reminded, “My son has waited for like a whole eternity with his tongue out.”
Merke looked down and noticed that Little Shitou kept using his tongue to lick the bottom of the bottle. He did not bother to make any excuses as he knew that Song Qinghan had discovered the fact that he had been zoning out, but delivered the empty bottle to the servant and picked up another one and then continued to feed Little Shitou.
“I got one question. I remember that there is an unwritten recruitment compulsory regulation in your Qingmu Region ruling that every family should at least send one member to get enrolled in the arm force. So why did you come here to the frontline as well? Is it purely because of the envy from the Imperial Hospital?” Mork asked, carrying Little Shitou in a quite embarrassing gesture.
Without further hesitation, Song Qinghan answered directly after hearing that, “I am here because I want to be here.”
Moke looked at him deeply, as if to probe through deep in Song Qinghan’s thought, and then he raised his eyebrows, “Did you come because of your husband Wu Dahu?”
Noticing that Song Qinghan was silent, Mork then added thoughtfully, “Well, it is quite rare to find someone as sentimental and righteous as you. If I am correct, I am afraid your husband and you share similar thoughts, right?”
Although Song Qinghan did not understand the meaning of Mork’s sudden inquiry, he still answered truthfully, “If the situation reversed and I were captured by you guys, I believe that Dahu would do the same and surmount difficulties only to save me.”
Moke nodded gently, then took out a handkerchief to help wipe Little Shitou’s mouth. Suddenly, he smiled. “Well, since then, everything will end up in a peaceful way. I mean, you two can stay and be loyal to me. What a happy ending!”
Song Qinghan didn’t even frown after hearing these words, lifting his cup of tea to his lips and taking a sip, and then he slowly uttered, “Sure and I think it is possible and can be guaranteed. But I would require some personal free moments for us two, and you should never force Wu Dahu to do anything against his will, like interrogating him about the layout of Qingmu landscape, or demanding him to fight against Qingmu army. Something like that.”
After hearing the conditions Song Qinghan just made, Mork put the bottle in his hand on the table, exasperated. And then he laughed, and said in an undulating tone, “Wu Dahu is a martial general. To make it preciser, he is a martial general of the enemy country in the shoes of mine, is he of any use to me other than these two points?”
Song Qinghan paused, put down the teacup quietly. He stared at the tea leaves which were going up and down in the turbulent water, and said slowly, “But you can make him a couch, helping you train your troop. I believe that he will never let you down. After all, know the enemy and know yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles with no danger of defeat.”
Mork flexed his fingers and tapped on the table, seemingly considering this suggestion of Song Qinghan’s, at the end of which he lifted Little Shitou with one hand and gently help the baby changed to the other side, letting him nestle in his arms. And after that, he responded in a deep voice, “I hope so, after all, I am no good man.”
This was something that Song Qinghan had expected, if the so-called Mork guy was indeed a good person, those captives who were captured by them would never be suffered like that. But as long as this guy wouldn’t show any hostility and act rudely, Song Qinghan decided to treat him the way he had treated him since he was in here.

The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.
