Even though Song Qinghan said so, Jiayi still looked rather uneasy on face. And it was not until he noticed that Song Qinghan turned his direction to the other side did he finally sigh in relief, readjusted his expression and then walked towards Wu Dahu’s tent with a smile.
But what he did not know was that even though Song Qinghan was heading in the other direction, he turned around midway and then secretly followed Jiayi in behind. And after Jiayi finally got into the tent of Wu Dahu, he silently went around to the other side of the tent to eavesdrop the movement inside.
Well, that was indeed a funny scene right now, he was so much curious about how Wu Dahu would react if he finally found the existence of him.
Inside the tent, after catching a glimpse of Jiayi’s heavily made-up face, Wu Dahu subconsciously frowned and said with a cold face, “What now?”
Jiayi perceived the impatience in Wu Dahu’s tone, but he was not affected at all. Instead of retreating, he made a slight bow paying salute while saying gently, “I’m here to congratulate Lord Wu, thanks to you, and we finally won a round against the enemies ……”
“Oh? Then what did those casualties outside go for?”
Unexpectedly, Wu Dahu changed his usual good temper, with his eyelids slightly drooping and a touch of anger implied in the tone of his voice.
Jiayi paused and hurriedly attempted to explain, “Sorry Lord Wu, but what I mean is that you should take the first credit for this event, and of course the other soldiers and commanders should be rewarded. Thanks to all of you, we are able to stay here with peace…”
He said so as his voice grew smaller and smaller. Probably it was nothing but just a bad excuse to make a further explanation, and at the same time he could feel that the sight of Wu Dahu fixing on him was growing colder with indifference.
Wu Dahu wanted to vent his anger as he found that Jiayi was trying to waste time making excuse, but the next moment when he catch a glimpse of the rice paper on the table, his mind came to be at ease suddenly. He paused and then answered in a deep voice, “We can’t make it a success if we fight against the enemies without the constant commands delivered by the Commander General. Besides, all our soldiers and other commanders united together to form a powerful troops. Without all of them, I am nothing. Do you understand now?”

Jia Yi felt a little aggrieved because he thought that there was no one else here, it would be totally fine if Wu Dahu tried to be a bit conceited. After all, everybody out there was praising the great achievement of Wu Dahu which should mean that he must have attributed a lot in this fight, it was not a shame to admit such a glory.
After thinking about it, he could only attribute Wu Dahu’s words to the fact that he didn’t trust him enough, and probably Wu Dahu was afraid that if he became a little complacent, Jiayi would be a chirping bird and spread the news to the other while bringing series of troubles to him.
So he pursed his lips, pushed all his sentiments down in the heart and responded in an understanding manner, “I understand, thank you for your teaching, if there is any future task for me, Lord Wu, I will definitely bow and die only to accomplish it for you, I really wish that I can do something valuable to you…”
Wu Dahu’s expression was a bit odd, looking at Jiayi as if he were a fool, as if he didn’t understand his motives for saying these words.
What was the point of him asking a logistics femina man to bow and die for? And that was a femina man who aren’t able to carry things on shoulder and hold heavy stuff in hand, he was just a femina man who was on his duty to clean the chamber pot. And every time when he lifted the chamber pot inside the tent, Wu Dahu always worried that this guy probably would splash the liquid out of the pot.
However, he didn’t show any difference on his face, but waved his hand motioning Jiayi to leave.
But after Jiayi left, Wu Dahu suddenly summoned his guard in and ordered in a low voice, “Go check his profile to see if there is any connection between him and the barbarians ……”
Even though the guard was stunned, he quickly responded. He left the tent with a serious expression and rushed to investigate the background of Jiayi.
Song Qinghan was amused outside. Well, he wondered curiously how sad Jiayi would be if he eventually came to know the fact that Wu Dahu was doubting his identity… But wait, probably he would just stamp his feet out of wrath because he wasn’t a kind of person tending to be tender. Instead, it was highly possible for him to condemn Song Qinghan for alienating their relationship in between.

Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly heard a slight tearing sound of fabric from inside the tent.
He paused, listened carefully for a moment, and when he recognized the sound as gauze wrapping, his heart tightened and he moved his steps forward subconsciously. But in the concerns of his current situation, he had to suppress his intrinsic impulse in mind. After a short while of pondering, he took out the rice paper from his pocket again, wrote down several characters on it and then wrapped the ointment he brought with him in the paper, threw it into the tent nimbly after unveiling the tiny corner of the curtain.
The sound of the ointment hitting the ground alerted Wu Dahu, he quickly grabbed the gauze in his hands and walked in the direction where the noise came from.
When he noticed the suspicious mess in the corner, he bent down to pick up the ointment and the paper ball with his brow furrowed. After reading the characters written on the paper, he grasped the ointment suddenly and unveiled the curtain, walked to the back side of the tent quickly.
To his surprise, there was no one outside the tent, let alone the man he had imagined.
When the guards saw him come out in dishevelled clothes, they thought something had happened and rushed over, whispering, “Lord, what happened?”
Wu Dahu came to answer with his hand grasping the ointment tightened, “Have you guys ever found someone strange here?”
The guards exchanged their glance in utter bewilderment and thought about it carefully, and shook their heads, “There are people all around here, but I never noticed something back there……”
Mentioning so, the one of the guards who spoke suddenly turned his head to the other tent next to them as if something just occurred to him in his mind, and then he greeted to the other guards who were not that far away, “Have you guys ever noticed any suspicious man around this place?”
They were guarding the front, so naturally they couldn’t notice what was going on at the back, but the guards in the tent behind them were able to see something.
The guards who were pointed at looked at each other and one of them who was sent as a representative ran over. He paid a salute to Wu Dahu, and then answered hesitantly, “We have never seen any suspicious man here. Even though here is somewhere quit bustling, those men are all the familiar ones. Lord, something wrong with that?”
Seeing that they were all looking at him in bewilderment, Wu Dahu shook his head slightly and answered, “Since you guys didn’t catch someone who was suspicious, I have nothing to ask about. But next time if you perceive someone intends to linger around, will you do me a favor to recognize his look or name for me? Get my guards informed, or report to me directly. Alright?”
The guards nodded in response, and when Wu Dahu had left, they gestured at their own bodies, glancing at each other as if they could see the admiration in each other’s eyes.
THAT WAS A HUGE WOUND! And Wu Dahu was just acting like nothing happened on him at all, he didn’t even request others to help him get his wound bandaged. What an iron man he was!
After returning to his tent, Wu Dahu spread out the sheet of rice paper again and looked at it. After comparing it with the previous handwriting, he found that although there was some slight difference existing, there was a striking similarity in the treatment of some of the strokes.
He took a closer look at the ointment and realised that it was just an ordinary box. Knowing that he would not be able to detect anything from the outside, he simply opened the lid, hooked his fingers into a slightly cool dab of ointment and put it to his nose and sniffed.
Although he was not familiar with medicinal herbs, he was familiar with the smell of ointment as he had two doctors at home. After smelling that the ointment smelled exactly like the one he used at home, he got his pupils shrank and his brows furrowed all of a sudden. His head got dizzy while thousands of thoughts flocked into his mind.
