《Just Friends || h.s.》Epilogue - 1

"I'm going to miss you guys so much!" Louis sobbed dramatically, pulling Harry and I into a very tight hug for the fifth time since we left the apartment.

"We're only going to be gone for a week." I chuckled, patting his back and smiling at the people walking past us in the middle of the airport.

"That's still a long time." Louis grumbled, finally letting us go.

"My turn!" Nick cried, taking Louis' place in hugging me, lifting me off of the floor.

I would say their behavior is normal, but recently they have been a little more...affectionate and emotional than usual. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's just something I wasn't used to seeing when it came to them.

"Okay, we are going to miss our flight if you guys keep hugging us." Harry added in, sighing dramatically as he stood next to Nick and I.

"Shit. We can't have that happen. Off you go now." Louis suddenly switched up, giving us a good push towards security after Nick released me.

I looked back to see them waving with big grins on their faces, and I waved back with the hand that Harry wasn't holding tightly as we walked towards TSA.

"Are you excited?" Harry asked, our walking coming to a stop when we reached the end of the line.

"Very. I haven't seen my nonna in years." I sighed happily, thinking of giving her the biggest hug when I see her.

"Do you think she will like me?" A hint of worry was in his voice.

"She will love you." I assured honestly. "What about you? Are you excited for this shoot?"

"I am a little nervous. This is the biggest job I've ever landed." He huffed, twirling a piece of his short hair between his fingers.

"I know you'll do amazing. Gucci is lucky to have you as their model." I smiled up at him giddily. "My boyfriend is gonna be on the front cover of Vogue." I bragged to myself while still looking at him.

He smiled timidly, bringing my hand to his lips and placing a gentle kiss on the back of it. The gesture made my heart melt, but our moment was cut short when we were called next to the security check.

After they checked our tickets and passports, we put our shoes and small carryons on the belt and walked through the metal detector, collecting our things after.

We still had around thirty minutes before our flight started boarding, so Harry and I sat in the back next to the window while we waiting, watching the planes come and go.

I started to become concerned when he started to check his phone every few minutes, his knee bouncing up and down anxiously.

"Are you okay?" I asked with concern, placing my hand on his knee so he'd stop.

He looked up at me with a loose smile and nodded. "Yeah, just...nervous about the shoot."

"There's nothing to be nervous about. You'll do amazing."

He took a deep breath and placed his hand over mine, his leg bouncing coming to a stop as he noticeably relaxed in his seat.

"Thank you."

"For what? I didn't do anything." I chuckled, reaching into my small purse for a piece of gum.

"Not about that. Just...thank you for everything you've ever done for me. I genuinely don't know where I would be without you." He whispers, making me look up at him to see how heartfelt his words are.

"You'd probably be in ditch somewhere." I joked, making him crack a smile and scrunch his nose up.

"Hey." He whined, pinching my side. My hand flew to my mouth as I squealed before I punched his arm lightly.

"I pour my heart out to you and you hit me? I can't believe this." He playfully scoffed, turning to look out the window.

Hiding my amusement, I reach over the armrest and kiss the spot between his ear and jawline. He was fighting a smile, which made me feel accomplished as I sat back in my seat normally, tightening my seatbelt and continuing my search for a piece of gum.

My fingers brushed against a piece of paper and confusedly, I pull it out.

"Oh my god." I mumbled, a nostalgic feeling flooding through me as I remember the moment I got this note.

"What is that?" Harry asked, staring at the paper.

"You shall soon meet the one who brings joy to you." I read the fortune aloud. I snort at how stupid it sounds. "Bullshit."

"Riley and I went to the mall and I got Chinese food from the food court. I got this fortune in my cookie." I briefly explain, turning away from the fortune in my hand and looking at him with a grin. "That was on the day Louis invited us all to the ice rink to meet you."

Harry still looked a little confused. "That was so long ago."

"I know." I sighed, finding myself missing those days. Two years is a long time, and a lot has happened since then.

Zayn and Riley are still together. They actually moved into together not too long ago and I'm very happy for them. I think the biggest surprise last year is Nick and Louis were also together and couldn't be happier.

Harry moved in with me a few days after my twenty-third birthday. I remember the day I asked him to live with me like it was yesterday.

"I missed you." Harry breathed through his lips on mine, roughly connecting them once again as we blindly walked into my room.

"I missed you too." I mumbled against his mouth, tightening my arms around his shoulders.

I haven't been able to see him much this entire month and it sucked. From training to shows, I barely even had time to sleep let alone see him.

The only time I got to spend with him is when he stayed the night with me on the days I was home - which gave me an idea.

I pulled away from his lips for a quick second, breathing heavily as I rested my forehead against his.

"Move in with me."

His eyes shot open and looked up into mine, a cute smile on his face. "Seriously?"

"Seriously." I confirmed, now feeling anxious for his answer. "I mean we've both been pretty busy with work and I just think it would be convenient. We'd get to see each other more and...yeah. I want you to move in with me."

He was quiet for the longest, most torturous few seconds of my life, before suddenly I was lifted off of the ground. I let out a squeal when my back hit the mattress quickly, Harry hovering over me with an excited look on his face.

"How can I say no to that?"

On the days we had off, we spent that time packing and moving his stuff down to my place. Zayn was pretty sad about living alone, but that only last a few months before Riley moved in with him.

Our lives were moving so quickly, that it sometimes made me sad when I thought about it. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy with how my life is currently, but sometimes I just miss being younger and not having to worry about much other than school.

"We're getting pretty old." Harry chuckled, but I rolled my eyes at that comment.

"We're only 24. Don't call us old." I glared, earning a quiet laugh from him.

"I love you." He planted a kiss on my cheek before locking our fingers together, resting them on his thigh. I put the fortune back in my purse, forgetting about the gum and just leaning my head on his shoulder.

"I love you too."

"Welcome to Italy!" I say giddily to Harry, glad to see his first moments in my home country.

Thankfully we slept most of the flight and it was already nine in the morning here, so we would be awake for most of the day without feeling tired.

"I have to pee." He whined, looking towards the bathroom.

I let go of his hand and copied him tone. "Then go pee. I'm gonna look for my cousin."

"Okay. I'll be right back." He says before walking off to relieve himself.

I walked towards the baggage carousel from our flight, looking around for a woman with long blonde hair.

When I spotted her, a grin made its way to my face and I ran up to her.

"Roma!" I called as I jumped into her arms. Luckily, she caught me right on time and held me up.

"Maddie!"

"Come sei stato? Mi sei mancato!" I asked. (How have you been? I missed you!)

"Stavo bene. e tu?" (I've been good. And you?)

"Sono stato fantastico. grazie." (I've been great. Thank you.)

"dov'è il tuo ragazzo?" (Where's your boyfriend?)

"Bathroom." I answered simply, checking the time on my watch to see it was almost half past nine. "La nonna ha mangiato qualcosa per colazione? Non mangio da dodici ore." (Did grandma make anything for breakfast? I haven't eaten in twelve hours)

"Yes. She woke up at seven and started making food for you guys. She's been very excited to see you." Roma chuckled, shaking her head in amusement. "And especially to meet the man she says is important enough to bring to her."

I couldn't help but grin. That sounds like my nonna.

"I still cannot believe Harry Styles is your boyfriend. He's literally the talk of the city right now because of his photo shoot for vogue this weekend." Roma swooned, her eyes darting behind me and her eyes going wide. She stood up straight and tried to look formal, so I sensed that Harry was on his way over here.

I'm still not used to people recognizing and fangirling over Harry. I'm proud that he's finally being recognized in front of the camera rather than behind one. He's definitely earned it.

"Hello. You must be Harry." She smiled politely, holding her hand out for him. Once he was close enough, he returned a smile and shook her hand.

"You must be Roma. Lovely to meet you." I rolled my eyes playfully when Roma swooned over Harry kissing her hand and smiling up at her again.

"You as well. Do you know Italian?" She asks once she composed herself from the pile she melted in on the floor.

"Not much. I know a few words I caught from this one, but that's about it." He shrugged, nodding towards me.

I raised a brow at him. "This one?"

"My apologies, darling. I meant to say my stunning girlfriend whom I love very much." He dramatically corrected, a hint of humor in his tone. I fought back a smile when his lips met my cheek and his arms snaked around my waist from behind me.

"Yeah, yeah." I replied, leaning into him.

It took around fifteen minutes until the carousel dropped our two bags, but after we got them we went to Roma's car, finally going to my nonna's house.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous, especially for August. It wasn't too hot but it also wasn't getting cold just yet. It was perfect.

The car ride was mostly Harry and Roma talking and getting to know each other. I only spoke when I had to translate a few times since Roma didn't know a few words in English and I had to translate for Harry. Other than that, I was quiet.

Once we pulled up in front of my grandma's house, I noticed Harry grew nervous again so I slipped my hand into his, whispering in his ear "she's gonna love you. Don't stress."

It eased him up a little, but I knew he wouldn't feel satisfied unless my grandma said it herself.

And she did. After spending two days at her house, I was pretty sure Nonna loved Harry more than me. Turns out she has been learning English because the last time I came to visit, she could not pronounce a word an English to save her life.

But seeing Harry and her get along well made me feel a type of happiness I have never felt in my entire life.

Besides my dad, Brandon, and Nick, my nonna's approval is the most important. She's my entire life, I wouldn't be where I am now without her. She practically raised me on the ice and was my first role model. Seeing videos of her on the ice when she was young is what inspired me to skate professionally.

She taught me everything I know, and to have her approve of someone who is also very important to me is a blessing.
