I originally had an idea for a vampire-inspired Batman story back in 2017. I had seen some fanart about the concept and I thought it would be so neat to have an actual story like that. It turns out, there already was a comic about Batman as a vampire, so my idea wasn't completely original. Yet, I still wanted to write it and I decided to focus on a character that's often ignored in the media adaptations of Batman; Batgirl.

I struggled with the pacing so much. Since it's a mystery, I had to find a balance between solving the mystery and keeping the story going. I couldn't just let the story come to a halt while the characters were investigating. And once the mystery was solved, I had to still keep the story going somehow.

I enjoy writing Barbara Gordon's character. She's unlike any other heroine I've seen and not just because of her disability. She is fearless and intelligent, but also vulnerable and sensitive. I wanted her to be well-rounded and three-dimensional because female characters are often just given one type of personality or identity. When I think of a strong female character, I think of someone like her.

So far, people seem to be liking it! Especially for something that might be too niche for a regular audience. I've gotten way more reads than I expected and the comments have been so encouraging.

It's a stand alone novel, but I'm open to a series if enough people are up for it!

The most important thing for me is if people with disabilities can see themselves in Barbara. Everything else is secondary compared to giving the disability community proper, respectful representation.

Keep practicing and keep reading! Never stop doing those things if you want to become a better writer. It's the same advice I would give to an athlete. Very few athletes are naturally gifted. They have to work hard and train themselves to become better performers.

Very much so! She is interested in law enforcement like me and had similar goals to mine. She also takes an interest in solving and studying crime.

It has a little bit of everything; mystery, horror, thriller, paranormal, and suspense. There's even some romance if you're into that.

I have at least 2 novellas planned. I hope to complete one by later this year and one next year for the Open Novella Contest.
