7 year old Derek sat outside of the hospital. He knew he would be in trouble when his mom found out where he went, but he couldn't help it. A smell had filled his nose leading him to this place.
Derek quickly walked in and looked around, the smell was coming from the Baby room. Now Derek being him, had to find the smell. Slowly he walked over and into the Baby room. The smell was stronger now, he followed it to a baby boy.
The baby opened his eyes and big brown ones looked back at him. This was him. Derek found the person. That's when the nurse came in.
Derek quickly ran out and back home. He couldn't keep the baby boy out of his head. Those big brown eyes stared back at him every time he closed his.
8 years later (Derek is 15)
The smell grew stronger with each year. Derek wanted to be by the child now. It was like a drug that you couldn't stop from using. Then he met Paige.
He felt a pull to her, he wanted to be with her forever, and finally he felt like he could forget about the boy from the hospital. That is until he lost her.
He felt like he was going to die, wanted to kill himself too...but then the smell came again to him. It was mixed with pain, sadness, and fear.
Derek followed the smell yet again to see the Sheriff, his son standing next to him. The smell came from the little boy. They were both wearing suites.
They stood next to an open grave...the mother was no where in sight. Derek realized what had happened. The boy had lost his mother. He could still smell her, but only a little, her smell was over the boy.

Pain filled Derek's heart, the boy was hurt and sad and Derek couldn't do anything about it. If he went to the boy it would be weird. So he watched from afar.
2 year later (Derek is 17)
Derek sat with Laura in the hospital. Tears did not fall, but pain filled his heart, walls built themselves up as his uncle was wheeled into a room. Derek could still hear the screams from his family as they burned alive.
Laura let go of his hand heading to the bathroom, When the smell hit Derek again. He looked up to see the boy again smiling with another boy.
A nurse came by them and said, "Scott, I have a new inhaler for you. Come with me." The other boy smiled and followed the nurse, leaving the boy that had the smell alone.
The boy looked up and right at Derek. He smiled and walked over to him. "Hi!" This boy was hipper, "My name's Stiles, what's yours?" Derek looked at him then said, "I'm Derek." Stiles jumped up and sat next to Derek.
"Why are you sad?" He asked. "My family died...in a fire..." Derek said looking away from Stiles. The smell was stronger next to him. Stiles looked down.
"I lost my mom too.." Derek looked at Stiles but said nothing. That's when the other boy, Scott, came back.
He smiled at Stiles as he got up walking over to Scott and the nurse. Just before they where about to leave Stiles stopped and looked back at Derek. "Spider Man lost both of his parents too."
With that they left, leaving Derek alone. Thinking about what Stiles had said. That was the last time Derek ever saw the boy with the pulling smell.
