《Broken-(A Loki Fanfic)》Chapter Eighteen

"Lady Lilith, you are indeed the Valkyrie of my son?" Odin asked.
"Yes, you knew this."
"But you are no longer denying your position."
"No, I suppose I'm not."
"And you have helped him?"
"I don't know, I guess? What kind of questions are these?" I wasn't really in the mood to put up with Odin's shit. He already knew this stuff, and he wants me dead. So just kill me already. Don't wait just to ask stupid questions.
"Why did you choose to join him?"
"Because you wanted me killed, and I had no other choice. Are we done here?" He sighed and waved a hand dismissively.
"Take them away." A guard took my chain from Ilia. She knelt to Odin before flying away.
The guard wasn't as rude when he pulled me though the halls. The path we were taking seemed very familiar. I realized it was the path to the dungeon. I guessed they were going to lock up Loki before killing me. We travelled down the halls until we came in front of Loki's cell. It looked exactly the same as it had when we left.
The barrier disappeared, and Thor set Loki inside. He put the barrier back up. Loki woke up as soon as he did. I could tell he was startled at first until he realized where he was. He looked around until his beautiful green eyes met mine. "Lilith, what—" He cut himself short when he saw the chains around me. "Thor, what is going on?"
"You are both traitors to Odin and must be punished for it."
"But what will you do to her?"
"She is to be killed. I am sorry brother."
"Liar! If you were sorry you'd let her go! This isn't her fault! Please, Thor, I beg of you. Let her go."

"You know that I cannot."
"No!" The sight of him so distressed broke my heart. He crawled towards the barrier. "Lilith, I am so sorry. I would beg for your forgiveness, but I am unworthy of it."
"I don't have to forgive you," I said as my voice cracked. "You didn't do anything wrong, Loki." I couldn't stop the tears. I didn't want to cry in front of him, but I was about to die. I guess crying is okay when you know you're going to die, right?
"This is my fault. I brought you here that day. You could have run somewhere else and been safe. But I—"
"If you hadn't brought me here, I would have only died sooner. I wouldn't have gotten to know you or anything. I should have cherished the short time we did spend together." I realized how cheesy that sounded, but it was true.
"Lady Lilith, I am afraid we must go now," Thor interrupted. I nodded, not feeling like resisting any more.
"No! You can't do this! Thor, please! No!" The guard began to drag me away. Loki came even closer to the barrier. "Lilith!" We kept walking. I could no longer see him, but I heard the sound of something sizzling. I could see the shape of his hand trying to push through the barrier but failing. His screams echoed through the room, shattering my heart to pieces. I cried but I didn't stop walking. "Lilith!" Loki cried. "I love you."
I froze where I stood. The door shut behind me. "No," I said. "No, no, no, no. Wait. I didn't tell him. I couldn't... No." My sobs grew louder as the guard dragged me along. Thor walked silently behind me. "Thor?"

"Yes?"
"Can you just do one thing for me?"
"What would that be?"
"After I... die, tell Loki that I love him. Please."
"I will. I promise."
The guard pulled me into a room I'd never seen before. There were many different ways to kill people in there. One of the most iconic items being a guillotine. I was somewhat surprised when the guard guided me towards it.
He put me in the guillotine, not at all hesitant. I wondered how often things like this happened. I saw Thor talking to Odin. The guard was obviously waiting for his command, but Thor was in the way.
"Out with a bang, I guess," I said through tears. The guard ignored me. Typical. Odin stopped Thor for a moment to tell the guard to be ready to kill me. "Never thought I'd see a guillotine, let alone be killed in one." Once again, the guard ignored me. "Tough crowd." He readied his sword to cut the rope.
"Guard," Odin said. The guard pulled his sword above his head, eagerly awaiting the final word. "Release her."
"But, sir—"
"I said release her, did I not?"
"Yes, sir." He put his sword down with disappointment.
"Take her to the dungeons." The guard nodded.
"What? Why?" I asked.
"I just spared your life, child, and you ask why?"
"Yeah, 'cause I just had a melodramatic moment since I thought I was going to die."
He didn't answer me, so the guard dragged me away. As he guided me out, I met Thor's gaze. His eyes were filled with pity. Not just for me, but for his brother too. I glared at him until I could no longer see him.
We started taking the familiar path to the dungeons again. I almost thought we were going to Loki's cell until we stopped at the one just before it. The guard lowered the barrier and shoved me inside. He secured my hands with metal dome handcuffs that covered my entire hand. They were chained to the center of the floor, not allowing me much room or to summon my blades. Smart, I guess. The guard left the chains on my chest to keep my wings in. He stepped out of the cell and put the barrier back up.
"Thank you, sir," I said. "You suck." He walked away silently.
"Lilith?" a familiar voice asked.
"Hey, Loki."
"You're alive?" I could tell he had been crying. His voice cracked as he spoke.
"Yeah. I am."
"I'm so sorry Lilith. They tried to kill you, and now you're trapped here too."
"At least we're here together."
"Yes, I suppose we are." I could almost feel his smile radiating from the cell beside me.
"Loki?"
"Hm?"
"About what you said earlier. Did you really mean it?"
"Of course I did. I know you might not feel the same way, but I meant what I said."
"Good. I love you, too."
