《Broken-(A Loki Fanfic)》Chapter Four

Thor landed on the ground hammer first. His landing caused a wave of smoke and rubble to go flying. In the middle of the courtyard stood a man who looked to be made completely of fire and lava. Thor stood tall, readying his hammer at his side.
"Hello, Odinson."
"What do you want?"
"What is that?" I said to myself. Thor must have heard me since he turned towards me.
"A fire giant. He is from another realm."
"Right." He turned back around.
"Prepare to face utter defeat, giant."
"You speak hopefully, Odinson. Soon I shall snuff that hope out of each and every being in this realm. You two shall only be the first." Thor chuckled and attacked. He threw his hammer and retrieved it, only to pound it into the giant's head.
I was frozen, but only for a moment. All of a sudden, my instinct seemed to kick in. I jolted forward, having almost no control over my actions. Thor and I attacked together. One of us would attack and switch out with the other. After many more rounds of this, the giant collapsed. He tried to get back to his feet, but I shoved both daggers into his chest and pulled them down. Heat oozed out of the cuts.
I removed them both and stabbed one directly into his heart, or where the human heart would be. Luckily, his was there, too. He gasped for air as I pulled it out and let him fall to the ground.
His body collapsed and lay motionless on the grass. I returned my daggers to the sheaths and stood in shock. I finally realized what I had done. I just took a life. I killed someone. It wasn't a human, but it was still a life.
"Shit." I stumbled back until I ran into Thor. I turned to face him with a jump. "I-I..."
"Well done, Valkyrie." I started breathing erratically as I bit at the skin on my fingers. "What is the matter?"
"I killed him. I... I killed him."

"Yes. I am afraid I do not understand the issue."
"I don't know what your morals are on Asgard, but killing someone on Earth is highly frowned upon!" I wiped tears from my eyes and tried to take deep breaths, but it didn't help.
"Murder alone is not alright, but you did it to protect all these innocent people. If not for you, they could have died. Before the fight, you helped others escape. You have done nothing wrong, Valkyrie."
"Then why does it feel like I did?"
"Killing is not an easy task, nor a fun one. Despite being for the greater good, killing weighs down on your soul. You did what you had to do to keep everyone safe. That is what matters most, dear Valkyrie."
"I guess that makes sense, but please stop calling me Valkyrie."
"What do you wish to be called then?"
"Lilith. That's my name," I replied awkwardly.
"Alright then, Lady Lilith."
"Close enough." I shrugged. "So what now?"
"We go to Asgard."
"Both of us?"
"Of course. The All-father will likely want to speak to you. Come now." He motioned for me to stand near him. I got close enough that it was awkward, but I tried not to think too much about it.
As I stood by him, I looked around and saw people slowly coming closer. Most of them were trying to take a picture or get Thor's attention.
"Heimdall, open the Bifrost." Suddenly, we were engulfed in a rainbow beam.
"Holy shit," I said as we were soaring through space. Thor looked down at me and smiled. He looked back up and we landed in a golden dome. "That was amazing."
"I'm glad you enjoyed it."
"Where are we?"
"Asgard."
"Oh. Valhalla is here," I said, proudly remembering what I had learned.
"Yes, in a sense."
"Cool." I looked around the dome and saw a man release his grip from the hilt of a sword.

"Welcome back, Lilith," he said with a smile. "I am Heimdall. I guard this realm."
"That sounds... interesting." I didn't know what to say. I had been to Asgard before, but never outside of Valhalla. And never by Bifrost, either. "This place is beautiful."
Thor turned to me. "I wish I could show you around young Valkyrie, but we have business to attend to. Come with me."
We left the dome and walked onto an extraordinary rainbow bridge. "Wow," I said as my jaw dropped. I looked at the city beyond the bridge. It was golden and absolutely stunning. I then looked at the length of bridge ahead of us. "How long is this bridge?"
"Extremely. We could fly if you wish."
"Oh, I'd rather not. I only learned how to hover the other day. I'm not ready for full on flying yet."
"You are new?"
"Yes. Why?"
"You just fought with excellent skill today. I would have expected you to be more experienced." I don't know why, but I blushed.
"Oh, sorry."
"Do not apologize. Come here." I reluctantly walked over, and he put his arm around my waist. I felt uncomfortable but was quickly distracted when he began to swing his hammer.
We took off into the sky and soared above the bridge. I panicked and gripped Thor's arm. I relaxed after a moment and let the wind breeze through my hair. It felt amazing, but it would probably be hell to brush out later. We landed in front of the palace steps. It looked even taller from down here.
"Wait here. I shall retrieve you once the All-father has agreed to speak with us."
"Okay." I sat on the stairs as he walked in. This place was stunning. It was like walking in a work of art. I stared up at the sky. It was a beautiful blue and had no clouds in sight.
I sat there for a while, but I didn't mind. I got lost in the scenery of a new planet. Or realm. I wasn't sure what the difference was.
"Lady Lilith." I jumped out of my daze and turned to see Thor peering out the door. "Come with me." I got up and walked up to him. He offered me his arm, but I denied him in what I hope was a polite way.
When we walked in, I saw the golden throne at the end of the long hallway. An old man sat on top. He had grey hair and one eye. He sat like a king, which I suppose he was, with his staff in his hand.
"Father," Thor said as he bowed. I did the same. "This is the Valkyrie that was with me when the attack happened."
"Stand up, Valkyrie." I rose and met his intimidating gaze. "How long have you been in my service?"
"Oh, um, only a few days now."
"I heard you fought rather well today. How is that?"
"I don't really know. It just happened. I saw the giant and something came over me." He gave me a skeptical look.
"The valiance of a Valkyrie, I suppose." I only nodded with a pressed smile. "You still need much more training. Tomorrow you will train with my son, Thor."
"What about my training with the Valkyries?"
"Are you able to fly?"
"Not exactly, no."
"Then you will fly with them first. When you finish, you will meet Thor in the training room."
"Yes, sir." He dismissed us and we quietly left the room. When were at the stairs, Thor turned to me to speak.
"I shall help you tomorrow, but I think I know someone who will be of more help with daggers."
"Who?"
"You must wait to find out. I believe you would call it a surprise." He gave me a wide smile.
"Okay," I answered with an awkward laugh. I looked at the bridge ahead of us. "So what now?"
"I take you back to Midgard. Are you ready?"
"Yeah." He grabbed me by the waist, and we flew back to the Bifrost.
"Farewell, Lady Lilith."

Iron and Wood - A Tale Of Empire and Clans
For centuries, the Midlands had been split into fragments. A once glorious, united Empire has become a shadow of its former self. Unity has not returned, and not for the lack of trying. The greatest of these successor states were the Li Dynasty to the south, the rulers of old, and the Emerald Empire to the North, with its vibrant vitality. Unity is the end goal, and both will sacrifice anything to attain this elusive dream. For unity would surely solve the conflict that had long plagued this once prosperous continent. The Ironwood Clan was a prime player. Some would consider them the ones holding the reigns to the horse named 'Unification'. Iron and wood were the backbones of civilization; similarly, the Ironwoods were the backbones of the Northern Empire, and by extension, the people of the Midlands. Their methods, as questionable as they might be, had strengthened the North. Yet, were they enough? In the midst of it all, a young Ironwood who had lost his path must once again find his way. For the sake of his own wellbeing; for the sake of his clan; and for the sake of the Empire and its subjects. However, is he willing to sacrifice for the good of all? Is he willing to condemn some for the sake of others? Is he willing to make the right, albeit harsh, decisions? Only the heavens would know. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, events and incidents are the products of the author’s imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. Additionally, any views and beliefs expressed by the characters are not the author's own. The story is also not an endorsement of any actions taken within. The 'profanity' and 'sexual content' warning tags are there to be safe (and to leave room for potential future changes), but for now these two things are not inside this novel. This is my take on 'cultivation', though it might be somewhat disconnected from the general idea of the genre. Release schedule: Two chapters a week. The cover was created using wombo art. While I believe that creations using the app are in the public domain, if that is not the case, I will take it down.
