A year later

Everything had changed they were now a family, and the couple was happy as could be.

"If you three don't get your asses down here." Well, they were mostly happy when their children were not doing things that could get them expelled.

Noah Evie and Liv flashed downstairs. They had a feeling they knew what this was about, but they wanted her to say it. They admitted to nothing. "Yes mother."

"Do you three want to explain why Caroline called?" She knew that her best friend had a lot of responsibility being the headmistress to the boarding school and she didn't want them making it harder for her. And she didn't even get why they would do something like them, but she knew that it was only something they would do knowing what the consequences for it.

"Hope suggested it." Liv smirked she was only going along with her older cousin's plan which Hope knew that she was going to have no problem following. Especially when it involved fire and burning something, she was all in.

Hope walked in with her uncle she now understood why her uncle had asked to borrow her and she regretted saying yes knowing that she was caught. "I did not." She did but she would deny it until she was truly caught.

"I was innocent." Liv swore again a lie that she knew her parents were not going to believe but hey a girl could try.

"Does not work anymore miss." Elena had learned very quickly of her daughter's true personality and the things she would do and wouldn't do. And burning everything was definitely something that she would do. She looked to her son he wasn't stupid enough to lie to her. "Noah?"

"Why are you looking at me you act like i actually care enough to do something like that." He had known they were going to do it but he had nothing to do with it figured it was best left to the girls instead. And he had been a bit preoccupied to really care.

Elena looked at her daughter giving her the 'you better not think of lying to me' look. "Everly."

"Hope had a part in it so did Liv." She knew that look well and did not want to be on the end of her anger for it. And she hadn't really cared to help doing that or helping period knowing that Hope had it handled.

"Olivia Hope?" She looked between her daughter and niece knowing that it was quite a possibility that they had did it.

"She had it coming." Liv shrugged and it was true Penelope had deserved it for what she did. No one could deny that.

Hope sighed Liv was right she did have it coming and it wasn't like they had gotten expelled for it. "Caroline wasn't even mad she just had to tell you cause she can't lie to her best friend about her children and niece." She knew that if Caroline could she would have did the same thing that they did.

"You turned everything in her room to ash." She knew that they might not see it as a big deal but it was and they were teenagers. "For what?"

Evie and Liv turned towards Hope. Both girls could agree on one thing that their older cousin was to blame. "It was Hope's plan,"

"She had it coming." Hope knew that technically she had deserved worse than what they had did to her.

"Why?" She didn't get why they had even done it to begin with.

"Hey we we're protecting your little sister you shouldn't be mad at us." Liv knew that their mother would understand more saying it that way and not mentioning the real reason Hope wanted to do it.

"Little-" It took her a minute to realize what they were saying but now she understood what they were saying. "Josie my stepsister right."

"Stepsister and god daughter." Evie reminded they had a very complicated family tree.

"So, what was the need to turn everything Penelope Park owned to ash because of Josie." She didn't realize what the need was.

"They used to date." Used to be the key word they used to date until Penelope had hurt her so they got their revenge for Josie.

She nodded now understanding she was happy that they stood up for her but they still needed to be grounded. Which she knew wasn't even going to last long. "Alright enough said but i still have to ground you guys."

"Fair enough." They understood it and they knew that it wouldn't last long their mother could never really say no to her.

Liv didn't care she could have done worse but they had just stuck to doing that. "Penelope still deserved it she had no right to do that to Josie she deserved worse than she got."

"Grounded." Elena looked at the two she was sticking with it.

"Fine." They both knew that she was being serious and that it was a not joking matter.

"You too Hope." If it was Hope plan that meant that she was in the same boat as they were. She couldn't get away with it either.

"Fine." She really should have seen that coming. She knew that her aunt was not one to play about these type of things.

"Good now i'm telling Hayley about this." She knew that Hope wasn't going to say anything about what happened, and she wasn't sure if she had talked to Caroline yet.

"Ok i guess i am going home see y'all later." She knew that her mom was going to have to say something about what she did but she stood by her decision.

"Bye Hope."

"Room now!" Evie and Liv both flashed upstairs they didn't want to get in more trouble that they already planned on getting out of. "I don't believe that you had nothing to do with this if you weren't around then what you doing."

"I was with Maya you can call her." He had a viable excuse he may have knew about it but he was not apart of it.

"Go to your room don't you guys have homework or something." She hated her kids sometimes she loved them but sometimes they were just to much.

"Sure." Noah flashed away he would rather let his mother calm down.

She turned towards Kol she hated when they did things like that. Especially knowing how hard it was to discipline them. "All your children act like you."

He smirked looking at his fiancé it had never been a secret how much like him all of them were. "Didn't you know that already"

"Yes i did i wish that it wasn't true but unfortunately we don't get everything that we wish for." It had been like that for years so she truly wasn't all that surprised.

He put his hand on his chest faking hurt. "Ouch."

"Don't try to be funny." She knew he was trying to get her to laugh but it was not working she was to irritated for that.

"And here i thought that i was hilarious."

"In your dreams babe in your dreams." Sometimes he could make her laugh but at times like this she was to irritated to. "Go talk to your children i will be in the living room."

--

Evie was texting one of her friends when there was a knock at the door. She waved her hand making the door open up. She didn't really feel like going to answer it.

Kol walked in standing against the doorway. He knew there was more than she didn't do it. "So what did you do?"

"Dad i swear they did the majority of it why would i do anything to her stuff i would have went straight to Penelope if i had a problem." And she knew that she didn't even have to do that because Hope would have handled it. "But i know that Hope will handle it so i have no worries."

"Throwing them under the bus." He knew that was how his daughter was she was going to be honest about it.

"Absolutely no need for me to get in trouble over something i really didn't even do." She didn't see no point in her getting in trouble for something that she didn't do now if she did it then she would have taken the blame already.

He smirked at his daughter it amazed him how she could say anything without a care in the world. "You know people are going to eventually find it hard to get along with you because you always have to say whatever is on your mind."

She shrugged she didn't really care that was just how she was and it wasn't going to change any time soon. "That's what makes me me, they are just going to have to deal with it."

--

Noah was working on a school project when there was a knock on the door. "Come in." He already knew it was his dad his mom tended to send him when she didn't want to bother with trying to get the truth out of them knowing they would lie to her first and wouldn't to him because they were mini hims.

Kol opened the door looking over to his son. He wasn't really surprised that he actually did what his mother had told him that had always been how he was. "You really came to do homework."

"Yes and I'm almost done the sooner i finish the sooner i can convince mom to let me go out." He of course knew that if he wanted to go out he wouldn't be going alone he would have to take his two sisters with him.

"You know that if you go your sisters have to then right." He knew Elena rarely let them split and that they tended to leave together split and then come back together to avoid suspicion.

He was happy that they got away with everything it was going to make everything easier. He wouldn't have to sneak them out. "Unfortunately, and they already get away with almost everything so convincing mom to let them come will be easy."

"At least you know."

--

Liv was sitting on her bed going through the footage they took of what they did to Penelope's room. It was interesting. She heard a knock at her door pausing the footage she stood up going to open her door. She already knew who it was it was no surprise this happened every time they got in trouble since they officially became a family.

"I'm guessing mom sent you am i the last one." She was always the last one because she was the youngest.

"As always"

"Figured as much." She went and sat back at her desk she guessed that this had something to do with her grounding. "So what do you want?"

"You really are just like me." Out of all of them Liv definitely acted the most like him.

She rolled her eyes smirking it was fun to not have to act a different way in front of her mother anymore. Who had eventually caught on to everything? "Didn't you realize that after our conversation in the cemetery i am in fact your mini."

"What happened to never talk about that ever?" He knew that she would never actually say anything about their conversation that led to her finally forgiving him.

"I'm not talking about it I'm referring to it." She wouldn't talk about it like promised it was just going to be between the two of them.

"Smartass."

"I know." She knew that was what made everything so funny. But back to the topic at hand. "I am grounded temporarily i will be fine. I am not going to try to sneak out i will ask can i go with Noah."

--

Elena was sitting on the couch talking with Caroline and Bonnie. She was still confused if Caroline knew why they did it why she didn't say anything. "So, you didn't mention why the girls did what they did because?"

"I figured you would have known doesn't everyone know that Hope and Josie have been in love with each other since they were kids." She thought it was no secret to any of them except Hope and Josie apparently.

"Excuse me?" She should have figured that her kids had lied to her again that was what they always did.

"What did they tell you?" Bonnie asked she was sure that Elena had known but obviously not.

"I should have figured that it was a lie." She really needed to learn when her own children were lying to her but they were to much like their father. She looked over to Kol who had just walked in knowing that he was going to have something to say.

"Their me they get away with everything." They were all like him and they never got caught or if they did they were able to get away with it.

Elena threw the pillow at him she did hate when he was right but that didn't help. "That is not true do not say that."

"You want me to lie to you." He asked he knew that she knew it was true but what could they do about it.

"Happy that you two are happy but back to the discussion at hand." She was happy that everything was ok between them but it was time to get back to the point. "You didn't know that Hope has been in love with Josie since they were kids."

"I had no clue Care and didn't we talk about that filter." She couldn't believe that after all this time Caroline still needed help with controlling her mouth it had been years and no change.

"Now Elena we both know that Caroline will never have a filter ever." Bonnie had learned that it was never going to happen so she stopped wishing for it.

"I have been trying." Caroline defended she had been trying to control her mouth, but it was no easy when she was so used to saying whatever was on her mind.

Kol went and sat next to Elena he knew that what he was about to say next they had no clue about. "So how are you and my brother?"

"No one can keep anything a secret." She didn't even know how he knew but she couldn't say that she was really surprised. She just wished that he had kept it to himself.

"You're finally with Klaus and you did not tell me." Elena asked she had been wishing for this for years and when it happened, she was not informed.

"It was supposed to be a secret." She actually wanted it to stay a secret for now.

"You keep a secret." Bonnie didn't believe that it was possible especially for Caroline who could never keep anything to her secret.

"Bonnie." Caroline scolded she couldn't believe that she had actually said that.

"Come on we all know its true." It was true and none of them could deny it.

"But Caroline we have been pushing this for years and you didn't say anything to us." Elena was still mad that they were probably the last people to find out.

Noah Liv and Evie came down. They had something to ask. "What point of grounded didn't you three get?" She knew they were about to ask for something,

"It wasn't even us it Hope?" Liv said it was her to but that wasn't the point Hope asked for help.

"Yeah you turned down starting a fire Liv." Elena asked she knew that Liv had played a part in it too and they had already went over this.

"Fine we helped." Liv admitted she was trying to go somewhere that was not her room.

"Be back before 9 all three of you come back together got it." She of course knew her children were not going to stay together. Even though she knew none of them realized that she had picked up on that she didn't care as long as they all came back together.

"Thank you, mom." They all flashed out.

"You really let them go." Caroline was surprised she thought that she would have made them work harder for it.

"They would have all just snuck out and that was easier then yelling at them for sneaking out. Now i want some alone time with my fiancé goodbye friends of mine." This plan was easier and it made sure that she had time with Kol with out her 16 year olds present.

"Bye."

"Bye."
