Jace’s P.O.V-
When I woke this morning, I felt amazing. My parents accepted me and that felt great. Since Aiden stayed with me last night, he had to go home to get changed and grab his bag so he told me to meet him at school. I reluctantly dragged myself out of bed and got dressed into my usual clothes. I slowly walked downstairs and entered the kitchen, grabbing a piece of toast and starting to eat. When I was done, I said goodbye to my parents and left the house. The sun was out but it wasn’t too warm. It was a lovely day and I must have been in a daze for a while because when I looked up, I was a few steps away from the gates of my school. I walked into the school and went straight to my locker where Aiden was supposed to be meeting me. I sorted my locker and put the books I needed into my bag. Once I closed my locker, I turned to wait for Aiden but unfortunately for me, Josh and Adam were walking straight towards me. I hoped Aiden would hurry up and get here. They stopped right in front of me with smirks on their faces.
‘Where’s your bodyguard today?’ Josh asked with a sly smile.
‘He’s on his way, he’ll be here any minute’ I replied, sounding a lot more confident that I was.
‘I think you’re lying’ Adam piped.
I wasn’t lying. Aiden was on his way but they weren’t going to believe me. I didn’t have time to get another sentence in as Josh threw a punch my way, landing it on my stomach. It hurt like hell, I was hunched over from the pain and as soon as I managed to straighten up, I felt another punch to my cheek. I lifted my hand up to touch it where it was burning. The halls weren’t that busy and no one was even bothering trying to stop this. I would just have to bear it until Aiden got here, hopefully he wouldn’t be long. I don’t know how much more of this beating I can take. I was kicked in the leg causing me to collapse to the floor. I felt multiple kicks and punches to my body. The whole time, my arms were covering my face.
It felt as if it went on forever. Suddenly, everything stopped. I couldn’t feel anything hitting me so I peeked up to see what was happening and it was a bit like déjà vu. It was similar to the time that I ended up in hospital. Both Josh and Adam were on the floor, Adam clutching his nose which I’m assuming Aiden broke and Josh still receiving a beating. Aiden looked brutal and like he wasn’t going to stop. I pulled myself up, surprisingly I wasn’t in that much pain other than my stomach. My cheek was a bit numb now so the pain had settled. It all went by so quickly and I barely knew what was going on. I ignored the squirming Adam on the floor and made my way to Josh and Aiden. I reached them and pulled on Aiden’s arm. He didn’t budge.

‘Aiden, stop!’ He either didn’t hear me or chose to ignore me. He kept attacking Josh. I kept shouting at him to stop but he didn’t listen.
‘Aiden! Please!’ I shouted while pulling his arm again.
He was extremely scary like this. This was his bad side that people spoke about, if he didn’t stop he was going to kill Josh. He stopped for a moment and looked into my eyes as I pulled on his arm. His eyes softened as he saw the fear in my eyes. He stepped off a beaten Josh and went to pull me into his arms.
‘Aiden Miller! My office now!’ I turned to see our principle looking at the scene in front of her with a stern face. She did not look happy.
Aiden stomped to her office while I quickly scurried after him to wait for him. I didn’t want to stick around with Adam and Josh. I walked fast, trying to keep up and when I eventually reached the principle’s office, the door was closed and Aiden was inside. I slid down the wall outside and waited for what was starting to feel like forever. I could hear shouting but I couldn’t make out what they were saying. I hoped Aiden didn’t get into a lot of trouble, after all it was because of me that this happened to him. After some more shouting and debating, Aiden emerged looking annoyed. I didn’t know what to say to him, so I just kept quiet, hoping I would think of something. I didn’t.
He slid down the wall next to me and laid his head on my shoulder while intertwining our fingers. I was still stuck on words and decided to stay quiet until he spoke. Aiden played with my fingers, not once moving from his position and I let him. It was comforting but also at the same time, a little uncomfortable. Aiden thought this would be a good time to speak, which I was glad for.
‘I’m suspended for three days’ He announced, still not removing his head from my shoulder.
‘I’m sorry’ I said it almost in a whisper but he still heard. His head whipped round to meet my eyes as he shook his head.
‘It wasn’t your fault Jace’ He said this as if I should already know.
‘It was. If you hadn’t hit them then you wouldn’t be suspended,’ I didn’t get a chance to finish my sentence as Aiden’s hand covered my mouth and stopped the words from flowing. He looked into my eyes as if searching for something.
‘Do you really think I would leave you to be beaten by them? I wouldn’t and you should know that. I like you too much to see you get hurt’
I watched him contently the entire time, my eyes never leaving his. I almost awed at the last part but managed to keep myself contained. I blushed at his words. He really meant this and that made me feel amazing. This boy was something else. Behind his bad boy aura and hard look, he was a sweet and caring person. It was pretty surprising actually, I would never have thought all this was hiding behind his image. This boy was something else. We sat in a comfortable silence for the next ten minutes with his head on my shoulder and my hand in his. Eventually I had to get to class and I almost forgot that Aiden was suspended until he said he had to get home. We agreed that I would go over to his house after school and we would hang out. We kissed for a few minutes before I reluctantly pulled away to go to class. Aiden smiled a sweet smile before making his way out the main doors.

The rest of the day seemed to drag on, just my luck for wanting to see Aiden so bad. Ella hadn’t been in school today because she was away to visit her family for a week, so I had to make it through school myself for the rest of the week. Aiden wasn’t returning until Monday. How sad for me…
--
I was waiting patiently for the bell to ring so I could leave. Who knew school could be so boring, especially without Ella or Aiden here. No one else really spoke to me so I was on my own all day, it didn’t bother me that much now that the school day was over. As soon as the bell rang, I was out of my seat and walking out the gates. I called my mom, asking if it was okay to go to Aiden’s, she said it was fine. I started walking, trying to remember the short walk to his house. I finally got there and rang the doorbell. A woman who I assumed to be his mother opened the door and smiled at me.
‘Hi, is Aiden here?’ I asked politely.
‘Yeah, come on in. I’m Aiden’s mom’ She said cheerily and grinned at me. I smiled back and introduced myself.
‘I’m Jace..’ I didn’t really know whether to say ‘boyfriend’ or not so I just left it and hoped Aiden would be here soon.
‘Aiden’s boyfriend? He told me, I’m happy for the both of you’ She squealed and pulled me into a hug, in which I could barely breathe.
‘Mom, he can’t breathe’
She eventually pulled away and my sight focused on Aiden, who was standing in the bottom of the stairs looking at us with a smirk on his face. He had a pair of sweats and a plain white top on, even in this he looked amazing. I averted my eyes to his face so he didn’t notice I was staring but the bigger smirk than before plastered on his face showed me he knew. He walked over and grabbed my hand, pulling me up the stairs to his room. He sat on a chair that was in his room and pulled me onto his lap. I forgot about his suspension from school and even though his mom didn’t seem too bothered, it still worried me a little. Aiden must have saw the worry placed on my face.
‘What’s wrong?’ He asked me.
‘What did your mom say about the fight?’ I said hesitantly. He let out a sigh.
‘She’s fine with it. She understands that I did it for you. Don’t worry about it’ He told me.
‘I’m not’ I lied.
‘I’m not stupid, I know you are but you don’t have to be. It’s sorted now, okay?’
‘Okay’
He leaned up and kissed me sweetly and I sighed in contentment, his kisses always seemed to make me forget everything. The rest of the night, we played video games, watched films and ate lots of food. It was like we were best friends but obviously we were more than that. There were lots of kisses in between the video games and movies, not that I minded. We were in the middle of a heated kiss when his mom spoke and walked in the room.
‘Hey Jace? Do you want to stay for-’ She cut it off as we hastily pulled away and I looked away blushing a deep red. Aiden’s expression barely changed, how was he so calm?!
‘What’s up mom?’ He asked, with a blank face.
‘I was just checking if Jace was staying for dinner?’ He looked at me expectantly.
‘Y-Yeah, that would be nice’ I stuttered, still red.
‘Great, I’ll call you down when it’s ready’ She said, walking out of the room and closing the door behind her. I let myself fall back on the bed with a huge sigh, covering my face with my hands.
‘That was so embarrassing, how can you be so calm?!’ I said while rubbing my face. He just laughed and picked up the game controller and continued to play.
After a good five minutes of embarrassment, I joined in on the game. Aiden said no one ever beat him at this game, which I had never played before. I had to take him up on the challenge and at the end of it, I had won three times while Aiden had only won once. He wasn’t too happy about it and kept saying it was beginners luck, I let him keep his pride and didn’t say anything about it. He was just too cute. We were about to start another game when his mom shouted upstairs.
‘Boys, dinners ready!’
We walked downstairs, Aiden in front while I trailed behind, trying to keep my blushing to minimum when I thought of his mom walking in on us kissing. I sat down beside Aiden and his mother sat across from us. The meal consisted of Aiden and his mother speaking and her asking me questions while I answered and added in a few words here and there. His mother was lovely but I still felt a little awkward around her, I think it was just because she was my first boyfriends’ parent. Once we were finished, it was getting late, so I had to head home. Aiden walked me to the front door.
‘I’ll see you tomorrow sometime’ He said to me.
‘Yeah, see you’ I smiled at him and he pecked me on the lips once more before I made my way home.
