《The Alpha's Mistake》-Chapter 27-

I stared at a sleeping Elora. She's honestly the best thing to have ever happened to me, and I will never be tired of remembering that fact. It's funny how my life was so dull before her and it seemed like nothing would ever be okay again. Yet now I can never imagine my life without her.

Asked my mum, her eyes, as always, holding adoration for Elora.

I chuckled, leading mum out of my old room, where Elora was napping away.

Dinner was all set out for us, courtesy of mum and Knox but I wasn't here for much longer.

After I'd driven home I had made Elora her lunch and put her down for a nap. I had the menial but tiresome task of packing our bags. We'd leave after dinner hopefully. As much as it will pain me, I've decided not to say goodbyes to everyone or to mention that I'm leaving. It'll only make it harder on me to leave. And who knows that they won't just easily stop me from leaving.

It had been a good hour or two past midnight and everyone was asleep- to avoid anyone waking up I had crushed in sleeping pills made for werewolf in the drinks everyone had. I couldn't afford anyone being awake so I did what I had to.

All my luggage was silently placed into the car by myself. Luckily the car was parked in the garage- away from the prying eyes of the woods. Now all I had to do was place Elora in her seat and finish buckling her in. Once that was done, my eyes drank in the comforting feeling of my own home. I paid my parents one last visit for the time being before slowly stepping away.

Home is a weird concept. It's not a mere building, rather a feeling. Home is people you love and no matter how many times you leave home, your love for those people does not leave.

I drove away into the darkness of the early winter morning, not knowing when I'd be back or even if I'd ever be back. Since I hadn't had sufficient time to plan this sudden departure- I wasn't able to book any flights for the two of us so this meant driving how ever many hours it would take me to get back to the human world. It's obviously my luck that the car was low on petrol. I should've filled the tank earlier but I was too busy overthinking the entire scene at the grocery store.

The petrol station was eerily empty, completely devoid of life. There wasn't even an attendant present which meant I'd either have to drop the cash off in the little box thingy or pay by card.

Great. The town crazy woman. Just what I needed.

Instead of replying to her, I silently got back in my car and began to drive away from the petrol station. I made it to the motorway, thankfully. For a good mile or two it was just my car on the road and no checkpoint for miles which meant that the crazy lady hadn't yet snitched on me. Shit- I spoke too soon- right ahead of me was a checkpoint with a good four to five werewolves from Dmitri's pack standing, one of them was barking away into his walkie talkie.

There have been way too many sacrifices that I have made for my Elora and I will for the rest of my life continue making these sacrifices. With that thought in mind, I swerved my car around, narrowly just missing the barriers. I've not come this far just to let my destiny fall right out my hands- to just let me and Elora's future slip right through my fingers.

I was seconds away from merging back off the motorway when around ten different black cars literally came out of nowhere blocked my car. Shit. So much for that action filled pep talk.

Every potential exit I could take was blocked by black Chryslers. The car in front of me, however, was a black G-wagon. Lena began singing the lyric; 'pull up g-wag 63' but I shut her up before she could continue. I could only defeatedly look on, as a woman, who was clad in a black leather coat and skirt with a silk white blouse and jet black shades, stepped out of one of the Chryslers and spoke to the driver of the G-wagon. I couldn't really see who was in the car or hear what she was saying, but I did see her being handed a phone. She nodded to whatever the person on the phone said and began walking my way.

She knocked on my window but I didn't lower it. She began speaking, regardless of the fact that she was speaking to a literal tinted window- she was basically speaking to her own reflection. Despite the situation, I found that particular fact funny and had to hold back myself from snorting like a piglet.

This Kyrstal girl was surely a no-nonsense person. Good. Good for her. Unfortunately she'd have to go back to little Alpha Dmitri empty handed, because I had made up a plan.

All my windows were tinted- which meant she could not see inside but I could see outside. I slowly unbuckled my seatbelt and climbed back to where Elora was now awake and bewildered-looking. I placed my finger on my lips and Elora did the same. I always have a tiny rucksack that I place near Elora's seat- which really just contains the essentials a person would need for a three to four year old.

I hurriedly wore it before silently unbuckling Elora. Krystal had her ear pressed to the window. I needed to make sure she didn't suspect anything.

I tried my best to sound as defeated as I sounded earlier; so that Krystal would get her ear the heck off of my window.

It worked because she stood up straight and had a determined look on her face.

Completely making up a story on the spot, I managed to multi task and successfully unbuckle Elora, too. Krystal's car was the one near the G-Wagon, and it had a clear path behind it. The engine was running and the door was also wide open. No one else was inside, either, which was the cherry on top, if I could manage to reach it- that is.

Krystal was busy giving me advice on my makeshift story of Elora's imaginary friend with whom she's extremely attached. I cannot believe that the poor girl actually fell for it- and she's the head of pack security? Wow, things have really went down since I left.

I silently opened the door of the car and sprinted towards the Chrysler.

Kyrstal was quick to chase after me but I managed to beat her by a literal split second. I locked the doors and instructed Elora to sit behind my seat.

My hand was on the gear stick when it was engulfed by another hand.

Dmitri had the cockiest smile on his face and I really wanted nothing more than to slap the ego right out of him.

I snatched my hand away but he grabbed it, leaned over and unlocked the doors. The unlocking of the doors allowed Kyrstal to open the back door and take Elora from the car, she saluted Dmitri, of all people, and buckled Elora in another car. Elora usually cries when she's in the arms of a stranger and yet she hadn't looked the tiniest bit scared in Krystal's embrace. My poor baby. If only I knew what she was going through- or was about to, anyways.

Whilst my attention was on the retreating Krystal, Dmitri had ordered around his men to straighten their cars, then he placed my hands on the gearshift and uttered a simple and stoic; "Drive".

The cars, including the one me and Dmitri were in, were all now in line. I subtly snuck a glance to the empty lane next to me- it was literally calling for something to drive in it. Dmitri must've sensed my sideway glances;

I riled him up, hoping my slightly seductive and flirtatious tone would confuse and sidetrack him so that I could plan something.

His tone sounded so serious and he was looking right and left as if he was being preyed on by a predator.

I spoke too soon- we were being preyed on. And I realised this when the cars abruptly braked, making me having to rely on the emergency brake of the car for it to stop.

Another line of cars driving the opposite way that we were all driving stopped opposite the car Krystal was in.

I nodded in response, stilling with both shock and curiosity.

I watched on as Dmitri left the car and walked towards the car Elora and Krystal were in. Using this as the perfect chance to leave, I slowly creeped out of the car and stood pressed against the car in front of us. The next car would be the one Elora was in, I just had to make sure I got there in enough time to grab her and leave. I slowly hoisted my little princess out of her seat- she was passed out. Poor baby must've been really tired.

I grabbed her and began to make my way towards the car me and Dmitri were in when all of a sudden I heard gunshots- making me press my back against the car in front of the car I was hoping to get inside. Not wanting to get caught up into whatever feud, whoever this person was, had with Dmitri, I dashed my way back into the Chrysler and got into the seat.

A hand trailed over my face and pressed against my mouth- effectively preventing me from calling out to Dmitri.

Krystal, appearing from literally nowhere, grabbed Elora out of my hands and scoffed at me, before walking away to Goddess knows which car.

There was one man in the backseat who was holding my mouth shut with his hands- the other held a gun to my temple as he slid into the front seat. This was the furthest thing from a usual challenge for me but all of that depended on whether or not the bullets had wolfsbane in them or not. If they did- I'm screwed. If they didn't- I'm probably still screwed considering the positioning of the two men.

They smelt like absolute garbage and I was boiling with rage every time the pervy one behind me kept trailing his fingers down the entirety of my body.

The one with the gun left the car and appeared at my door, yanking it open and dragging me towards one of the whoever knows how many white cars.

The butt of his gun must have knocked me out, because when I came to I was in some shabby looking underground basement.

I was tied, with ropes, to a wooden chair and ahead of me stood a man with a mask like the one from that human film- 'Phantom of the Opera'. Except, his was mysterious, this mask was soul chilling.

I muttered, my throat drier than the Sahara desert.

He only chuckled in response to my worried question and my earlier hunch that he was a psychopath was now definitely twice over confirmed.

I could only watch with horror filled eyes as the deranged madman in front of me ranted on.

I slammed my foot on the ground to show him I was not messing around but due to my lack of energy it was more a feeble thud. Not of much threat to even an ant.

He gestured towards the guard who opened the door and let in Krystal- who refused to make eye contact with either me or the masked man but silently handed her over to him.

She questioned with her head still facing the ground, a clear statement of perhaps shame? Regardless, she was dismissed with a snap of Maxim's fingers.

Elora stirred awake and glared at Maxim with such confusion, her eyes sparkled when they met mine and she let out a sweet little 'mama'.

From another door of the depressing, dull and decaying basement we were in, in came tumbling a Dmitri, followed by two guards. He was thrown to the floor and his eyes washed over with relief when he saw me, although he visibly tensed up once he saw Elora in the arms of this Maxim guys.

I gritted out, feeling so powerless and useless.

He spoke in a sing sing voice, brushing Elora's fringe to the side.

Dmitri looked hungry for blood. If his eyes were directed at me I would dissolve right there on the spot.

It was still confusing how be knew our names but that wasn't important- what was important was getting Elora out of here.

He walked between me and Dmitri and stopped near me; his fingers reaching out to touch my face.

Who is she?
