"Okay. Can someone please tell me why David is face down on the ground in the living room." Melody asked pointing at David.

Sean and Serenity were still in shock over the event that just happens hours ago before making it back home. To think on a day of all day's when it's the anniversary of David's mate's death he finds his second chance mate. Sean happens to know who that woman was for he had met her before. That woman is none other than Summer Fall a hunter. In the supernatural world, some bad hunters will kill any mythical being. Then there are the good hunters that work with packs to protect them. Summer Fall is one of the best hunters with an incredible history of taking on wolf rouges on her own. She's highly respected by the alpha king, the vampire queen, and the dragon king for her amazing work. To think she is fated to be David's mate is something many didn't would be possible.

"Well on our way back home we happen to bump into David's second chance mate who happens to be Summer Fall," Sean explained to Melody.

Darren turned his head to Sean giving him a "Are you a serious look."

"Summer Fall? That's some pretty big news. So that's why David is like that?" Darren said.

"Isn't this good news? I mean David found his new mate." Serenity said rubbing David's back gently trying to get him off the ground. She was pretty sure his face would have some crazy marks from the rug.

"It is a good thing Serenity." Melody began. "However, the big concern is if David is ready for a new mate."

Melody had a good point where Serenity understood what she was saying. David is still in love with his late mate that it could be hard for him to move on. David still blames himself for her death to this day.

"David. Have you any clue about what you're going to do?" Sean asked.

David remained silent for a good minute before getting up from the ground fixing is a black V-neck shirt. To everyone, his eyes look dead showing no trace of emotion in them. Darren and Started to get very concerned for him at this point. Melody suggested that Darren and Sean take him out to clear his mind of all things. Have a guy's night relax and not stress about anything. Serenity got a call from her boss stating that she had to come in and watch over a Husky mother who is about to give birth to pups.

"How come he calls you and not me?" Melody asked pouting.

"Maybe because the last time we were called in to help out with the birthing prosses of a golden retriever you fainted. It's funny how you can handle a surgical procedure but not birthing procedures."

"The birth of life is gross okay. Beautiful but gross." Melody fired back pouting more till Darren kissed her on the lips making that pout turn into a smile.

"Don't worry. I'll be back in no time. And when I do return let's watch some horror movies okay?"

"Now you're talking!"

Sean let Serenity borrow one of his other cars to work for the night. When she got to the vet, she could see someone waiting in the waiting room. Getting a closer look at the person she saw that it was Summer Fall. Surprised she walked over getting Summer's attention.

"Oh my gosh. You work here?" Summer asked dumbfounded.

"Yeah. I work here also with my best friend Melody. What brings you here? David is not with me right now if you're looking for him."

Summer shook her head. "As must as I would love to talk with David I came here because my dog Bambi is giving birth and I'm a nervous wreck."

So that's why she's here. Serenity thought to put on her vet coat.

"Well don't worry about a thing Summer. I'll be the one taking care of Bambi and to make sure her pups are healthy."

One of Serenity's partners Coby was rushing out of the break room leaving."

"Coby where are you going? Where's the fire?" Serenity asked grabbing his arm.

"Sorry Serenity. I have to leave now. My wife is about to give birth to twins. My father-in-law contacted me. Can you handle things while I'm gone?"

Wow. So many medicals are happening tonight. Serenity thought to let Coby's arm go.

"Yeah. I can handle things. Get going and congrats! Send me pictures so I can show Melody."

"I will!"

With Coby leaving Serenity was not on her own to help this Husky give birth. Summer offered to help in any way she could which was a big help. Summer's dog Bambi gave birth to six beautiful pups. Four boys and two girls.

"They are so cute! I can't wait to tell my brothers about this!" Summer exclaimed excitedly.

"How many brothers do you have?" Serenity asked washing her hands.

"Oh. I have ten brothers. I'm the only in the family."

"Wow. Your parents worked it."

Summer laughed taking pictures of the pups sending them to her family. When she was done, she turned to Serenity.

"Hey. How is David doing? I'm kind of worried about him. Also, can you tell him that he doesn't have to accept me as his mate because I know he still loves his late mate Emilia."

Serenity didn't know what to say to Summer. It was easy to see that Summer wanted to get to know David and see if he would give her a chance. But deep she knows that David would never give her the chance because she is a hunter. And it was hunters that killed his mate nothing would change that.

"I don't think David would reject you. I just know that right now he's going through a lot. Before I came into work David was face down on the ground in the living room. So, my friend Melody suggested that he have a night out with the guys to get his mind off things."

Summer smiled understanding. Serenity informed Summer that the pups will stay overnight in case anything happens. Serenity's other friend April came in just in time to take over for the rest of the night.

"Freedom!" Serenity shouted stretching her arms. "Summer I been meaning to ask. What's it like to be a hunter?"

"Well for one it's really dangerous work. Your whole life is on the line when it comes to confronting the enemy. On the plus side, it's pretty cool because you get to meet all kinds of beings."

"That sounds cool." Serenity smiled. "Are you waiting for a ride or do you need a ride home because I'll be happy to give you a lift."

"I was planning on walking home, but a lift does sound better. Thanks."

Before Serenity walked over to her car with Summer following along another car drove up to them almost running Serenity over. Thankfully Summer grabbed Serenity out of the way just in time. The person driving the parked stepping out revealing it to be her sister Fiona.

"Fiona what the hell are you thinking! You could have killed me!" Serenity screamed.

Fiona just rolled her eyes giving a nasty smirk. Serenity could tell that this chick has lost it. Fiona looks like she hasn't slept in days.

"Thanks to you Serenity Ethan dumped me because his father told him to. Thanks to your boyfriend everything in my life is falling apart. Now I'm going to take you away from Sean for good. By killing you myself! I was planning on selling you off but killing you is a better idea."

It was truly official that Fiona has gone off the deep end. Serenity knew this day would come.

"Serenity. You know this crazy bitch?" Summer asked me eyeing Fiona carefully.

"Sadly yes. This crazy bitch is my sister."

"Why don't you repeat yourself," Fiona said pulling out a gun pointing it at Serenity. Serenity's eyes widen in horror. Getting out of this situation is going to be tricky and she didn't want Summer to be caught up in this. However, Summer didn't seem fazed by the gun. Her body was calm taking in any ideas on how to get the gun out of Fiona's hand. Without any warning given by Fiona, she fired the gun at Serenity, but with fast reflexes, Serenity was pushed out of the way when the bullet grazed Summer's arms.

"Summer are you okay!?" Serenity asked horrified. Serenity looked at Summer's arm seeing that she's bleeding. Luckily the bullet only grazed and not penetrated her arm. Seeing Summer's blood caused Serenity to remember something from her past long ago. She started to remember the time she saved Melody from a crazy hunter and how she killed him.

Ignoring the stinging pain from her arm Summer runs up to Fiona pinning her down to the ground pulling the gun from her hand.

"Let me go you damn bitch!" Fiona cursed struggling to get lose from Summer's tight hold.

"Like hell, I'm going to let you go after that stunt you just pulled." Summer said tightening her hold on Fiona.

April rushed out of the vet after hearing gunfire. When she saw Serenity on the phone with someone and Summer holding Fiona down, she called the cops right away. It didn't take long for the cops to arrive with the paramedics. Fiona was taken into custody where she will be charged with the attempt of murder. Both Serenity and Summer were taken to the hospital. Summer had her arm patched up with no stitches to be needed.

"I'm so sorry Summer. It's my fault this happen to you." Serenity said looking down.

"How can this be your fault. I'm just glad that the bullet didn't hit you. If it had I'm pretty sure Alpha Sean would have lost it and gone after Fiona for her life. Besides this is nothing compared to the time I was bitten by an alpha rouge."

Just as Serenity was going to ask more on that David and Sean busted through the door with worried looks on their faces. Melody and Darren were present too.

"You made it." Was all Serenity said before Sean pulled Serenity into his embrace shaking. She knew after she called telling Sean what had happened, he would be extremely worried and angry. Serenity smiled hugging him back tightly. "I'm fine. The one who was hurt was Summer. She saved me."

"Thank you, Summer, for protecting my mate from harm."

"No problem. I must protect the innocent even if they're not supernatural."

"I still can't believe Fiona would do this," Melody said.

"I would." Serenity said. "It was only a matter of time."

Serenity noticed David looking at Summer and she got the hint he wanted to be alone with her.

"Okay everyone let's leave David and Summer alone. Come one."

Serenity dragged Sean, Darren, and Melody out of the room. David's mouth thank you to Serenity before she closed the door giving them privacy

"Well this turned out to be a very eventful night," Melody said.

"You have no idea Melody." Serenity said leaning into Sean's chest.

"What happens now?" Darren asked.

"It's time I confronted my parents for the last time." Serenity said sighing.

"And I'll be with you when you do," Sean said smiling at how strong Serenity has gotten.
