Hayley sits on the couch, flipping through a book while she talks to Agnes. Over at the coffee table, Rebekah sits and types on a laptop as Raven leans against the windowsill smoking once again
"I told you, Agnes, I feel great!" Hayley says.
"You are overdue for a checkup," Agnes says. "Especially with your smoker friend around"
Raven sticks her middle finger up at Agnes.
"Raven always smokes near a window if I'm in the room," Hayley says. "What am I gonna do? Pop into the Quarter for a quick ultrasound? A pregnant werewolf escorted by a witch? Nothing to see here!"
"A lot of women would kill to have a child. It strikes me as odd that you're not taking better care of yours" Rebekah says and Raven picks up the jealous undertone.
"I know a doctor out in the Bayou, off the beaten path. Now, I took the liberty of making an appointment for you. Tonight, after-hours, just us. Vampires will never get word of it"
Hayley thinks for a moment and rolls her eyes in reluctant agreement.
"Okay, fine. Bayou-baby-doctor it is, but only if Maya comes too"
Agnes and Hayley leave the room. Raven leans over Rebekah's shoulder to see she is looking at satellite photos of the French Quarter. Klaus walks in and laughs at her when he sees them.
"Please, sister, tell me you're not still at it with the internet search. How does one begin, anyway? Just type in "anonymous attic?'"
Klaus pours himself a scotch and offers Raven a glass.
"Thanks"
"Someone has to find Elijah, even if I have to search every bloody attic in New Orleans," Rebekah says.
"Like looking for a needle in a rather large pile of needles," Klaus says and Raven hums in agreement pointing at him.
"I remember details about the attic Marcel took me to. There were shutters on the windows behind Elijah's coffin" Rebekah says and Raven snorts, which causes Rebekah to hit her leg.

"Well, that should narrow it down immensely. Myself, I prefer actual strategy as opposed to mind-numbing labour. Marcel's delay in returning our brother makes me suspect he's no longer in charge of the situation. If Davina's loyalty to Marcel is strained, perhaps the young witch will be open to discussing a new alliance" Klaus says.
"As usual, your power grabs are more important than rescuing your brother" Rebekah snarks.
"I prefer to think of it as killing two birds with one stone. Rob Marcel of his secret weapon, bring our brother home"
Rebekah, still unimpressed, smiles tightly at her brother as he sips his drink.
"What did the windows look like?" Raven asks.
"They were see-through"
"No you idiot" Raven says and Rebekah glares. "Were they stained, like a church?"
"Maybe" Rebekah begins typing and Raven leans away.
"Well, that's her silenced for a little while longer," Klaus says and Raven shrugs.
"I used to do it with Stiles," Raven says. "Give him something else and he'd shut up"
Night had fallen so the outside was dark, and Agnes drives Hayley and Raven up to the obstetrician in the Bayou in her car. Owls hoot in the background, giving the whole journey feel creepy.
"This is the doctor's office?" Hayley asks suspiciously.
"Dr Paige is only this far out because Marcel's men kept terrorizing her patients. Go! She won't bite!"
Hayley nervously exits the car and walks toward the clinic with Raven.
Dr Paige is giving Hayley an ultrasound, and they can hear the fetal heartbeat. The doctor smiles at her.
"Your baby's heart rate is perfect"
"I knew it. She's a tough one, like her mom and Aunt Raven" Hayley says.
Dr Paige chuckles and hands her a tissue to wipe the ultrasound gel off of her abdomen, which she does. As Hayley sits up, Dr Paige notices Hayley's crescent-moon shaped birthmark on her shoulder, and she smiles tightly.
"That's a unique birthmark," Dr Paige says.

"We're pretty much done here, right?" Raven asks.
Hayley gets a text from Rebekah, which reads "Where are you?"
"Your blood pressure is a bit high, I've got something for it," Dr Paige says.
Hayley watches as she walks away, to where Agnes is waiting in the next room. She texts "Bayou clinic with the doctor" to Rebekah. Suddenly, a wolf howls loudly, startling Hayley and Raven who look at each other. Raven gets up to look out the window and sees a car's headlights approaching, which makes her suspicious and anxious. Dr Paige returns with her medication and Raven moves slightly in her path.
"Ahh, you know, I'm-I'm actually not that good with pills," Hayley says.
"Heh, neither am I, truth be told" Dr Paige says.
Dr Paige sets the medicine cup on the table and starts preparing something. A group of intimidating-looking men walk into the clinic and whisper something unintelligible to Agnes. Hayley turns around to see Dr Paige preparing a syringe, and the doctor lunges at Hayley to inject her with it.
Raven grabs her arm and pushes it away from her, headbutts the doctor to disorient her, and then stabs the syringe into the doctor's neck, causing her to pass out onto the floor.
When the men in the lobby see what happened, they run toward the door, but Hayley manages to shut and lock it before they can enter. One of the men rattles the doorknob as Hayley struggles to open the window to escape. When they finally get in, Hayley and Raven have already escaped and ran away from the clinic.
Five minutes later, the men who raided the clinic are still looking for Hayley and Raven in the woods behind the clinic, and they pass them, not seeing that they're hiding behind a tree. Hayley runs up to them and kicks the first man she encounters in the gut before knocking him to the ground.
Raven jumps and kicks the second man down as well as she snaps his neck. A third man tries to attack Hayley, but Raven grabs a knife from his hands and cuts his neck with it as she spins in the air.
When a fourth lunges toward them, Hayley grabs his shotgun and knocks him to the ground, and possibly kills him as she kicks him and beats him in the head with the butt of the gun. As Hayley crouches into a defensive position on the ground, her eyes flash werewolf-gold as she looks around for any more threats. A large, burly man descends upon her, but before either of them can react, his neck is snapped from behind by Rebekah, who has just arrived
"Have to say, I'm impressed," The blonde says.
"How did you find us?" Hayley asks.
"Your text got me halfway, vamping here did the rest. Who are they?"
"Witches. Warlocks. Whatever" Raven pants. "Man I'm unfit"
"They're more of them. Run!"
Hayley reluctantly heeds her warning.
"If I had a dollar for every mess my family has got me into-"
Rebekah is shot in the heart with two arrows, which temporarily neutralize her and she falls to the ground. Hayley and Raven watch her go down and watches in horror.
"Rebekah!"
Hayley is shot in the shoulder with an arrow, which seems to be coated in something that causes her to pass out and fall to the ground as well.
Raven lures the hunters away from Hayley and gets to the forest edge to see Rebekah loading Hayley into a car as Klaus stands staring at the border.
Raven gasps when she feels something pierce her back which causes Klaus to look in her direction to see an arrow directly through her heart. He blurs forward and scoops her up as her breathing slows and her eyes fall closed.
Klaus hoists her body up as Raven's heart stops.
"I've got you, love. I've got you"

Tales of the Implock - A LitRPG Monster Evolution Story
Nyx - A demon, weak and small, too fleeting of a creature to survive the infernal wastes in which he was born - but after multiple brushes with death, the otherwise inconsequential demon experiences a destiny-changing encounter with an unknown and eccentric god, foreign to this world. Cast from the domains of old and conspiring gods to a land of which is sheltered from the divine, beyond the reach of whence they scheme, the impling who soon would come to be known far and wide as Nyx will find a new purpose. Born of Pride, with the fires of ambition fanned and burning deep within, Nyx will grow, learn, and evolve. From a weak and pathetic impling, to that of a mighty arch demon of untold demonic power, nothing would stand in the way of his ascent. Yet, the yearn of power might not be the only thing the power-manic demon will come to desire as he will encounter others who might just matter as much to him as the ecstasy of power does. [Info]This story features a wide breadth of characters with unconventional views, morals, and actions. There is no black and white - there is only grey. In a world where strength rules, notions of good and evil blur. The protagonist of this story is not a hero. He is not human. He is a megalomaniac demon trying to find his place in the world of which he has been discarded. This novel is my first crack at making something serious, a piece of work I can be proud of. It is a part of a bigger universe that I am creating, The Aethos, and I fully intend for this story to be professionally edited, then self-published on Amazon. The novel will continue on for a long adventure, as each arc will be made into a proper book. Therefore I heavily encourage feedback and interaction. Anything to improve my story and my writing is greatly appreciated. Thank you, and welcome to the Aethos. [Schedule] - Five chapters a week. [Discord] - Here

Any and all comments and reviews are welcome. They will help me learn and become a better writer so I can provide a better and more well written story for you and others to enjoy.
