Hayley pulls a sheet off of a crib, coughing because of the dust and Raven splutters, waving her hand in front of her face.
"Are you alright?"
"Just dust. This place is ancient" Hayley says.
"And dirty"
"Yes, it should serve our purposes. It's a sanctuary from our business in the Quarter. Right now, you are the most important person in this family. You need a good home. So I'm curious in all this time, has anyone asked you how you feel?"
"About having a miracle baby with a psychotic one-night-stand?" Hayley asks and Raven snickers.
"About being a mother"
Hayley clearly wasn't expecting this question and Raven continues to pull sheets off before pushing open the windows to clear some of the dust.
"I - I was abandoned when I was born and my adoptive parents kicked me out the second that I turned into a wolf. So I don't really know how I feel about being a mother because I- I never really had a good one. I just had the Stilinskis"
"I will always protect you. You have my word on that. Both of you"
"I can protect myself" Raven rolls her eyes, pushing open the windows before wincing as one of the panels pops out and falls to its death with a smash. "Shit"
Klaus appears in the doorway.
"But, Raven, noble Elijah always keeps his word"
"Is it done?" Elijah asks,
"As a matter of fact, yes. Your underhanded deal worked quite well. Marcel was only too happy to accept my blood even as he accepted my heartfelt apologies. His man, Thierry, yet lives and I remain a welcome guest in the French Quarter. My only concern now is this coven of impudent witches"
"I believe them to be honorable. They did release Hayley to me and promised no harm upon Raven. Although, they haven't been entirely forthcoming. Marcel obviously has something that they need. They don't want him dead. There must be a reason why"

Raven winces when she grabs the window handle, forgetting about the mysterious cut on her hand.
"You're hurt" Klaus says, noticing the wince.
"It's probably nothing, I'm very clumsy" Raven says and Elijah examines her hand.
"Forgive me" Elijah grabs a letter opener and pokes it quickly into Raven's finger.
"What the fuck? Ow!"
"Ow!"
"Why are you fucking saying ow, he stabbed me- Why is Hayley also bleeding?"
"The spell Jane-Anne died for" Elijah says. "Bonded you, Hayley and Sophie together so whatever happens to one happens to the other two"
"What a bitch" Raven mutters. "I used to like her too, even got upset she fucking died"
Raven walks past a room but stops when she hears Klaus and Elijah talking.
"And what of Rebekah? Has she stopped her pouting long enough to join the fun?"
"She has made her disinterest quite clear"
"One too many times daggered and shoved in a box, I gather? Or perhaps she doesn't share your unwavering belief that I can be saved"
"Rebekah may surprise us yet. After all, we all swore the same vow"
"I hope she stays far away. Because in my desire to reclaim this town, to steal from Marcel that which he holds most dear, I have realized one massive vulnerability. One weakness that Marcel could exploit"
"And what is that?"
"You"
Klaus daggers Elijah with the silver dagger. Elijah groans and Raven watches in surprise as he begins to desiccate.
"Forgive me, my brother. There is no power in love. Mercy makes you weak. Family makes you weak. If I am going to win this war, I have to do it alone"
"Well no wonder your sister doesn't believe you can be saved" Raven says sitting down. "You're a bit of a dick"

Klaus just stares at the young woman in curiosity.
"What are you?"
"I am a Shapeshifter" Raven says.
Raven glances at the bookshelf and grabs a book, before rifling through the pages. The book drifts and lands on the table, open on a page with a picture of a woman surrounded by people.
The shapeshifter is a legendary magical bird originating from Greek mythology. It has long been associated with the Greek God, Proteus, and is viewed as a symbol of renewal and rebirth in different forms.
The appearance of the Shapeshifter's different forms has varied little across different mediums, though they can vary in size, ranging between the average size of chosen animal to giant proportions on limbs and areas. When nearing the end of its lifespan, a Shapeshifter's form becomes sickly and starts molting heavily. But what many do not know is that a Shapeshifter's true form is a human.
The benevolent Shapeshifter, a symbol of renewal, possesses the remarkable power of resurrection, much like a Phoenix. At the end of its life, a Shapeshifter will die and its body will slowly heal itself, much like a vampire. Not long after dying, the Shapeshifter will be reborn from its ashes. Some forms of media have shown that a newly-reborn Shapeshifter will look much like any other newborn animal: small, scrawny and lacking it's full body appearance; whereas other stories have described Shapeshifters as being reborn strong and healthy with full size. Since they are reborn each time they die, Shapeshifters are essentially immortal. The only downside to a Shapeshifter is when they die for the first time that is the age they're frozen at.
When Shapeshifters turn into birds, they can fly for long periods of time without getting tired and even when young and small are capable of carrying loads many times their own weight. When threatened, they can envelop their bodies in flames to prevent other creatures from touching them. Their most incredible ability, however, is their healing ability. The tears of a Shapeshifter are capable of healing wounds rapidly and eliminating poisons and disease. It is even possible to restore the recently deceased to life using Shapeshifter tears.

Lost Things
"In this disordered continent, where everyone seeks to be the heroes of their own tales, there are still some rooms for smaller stories to breathe." "Past, present, and future—keep your eyes open, and see where they lead you to." This story follows three housemates’ lives: Carson Calding, Virgil Barion, and John Salore—onto their adventures of finding Carson’s past, Virgil’s present, and John’s future. Despite their clashing backgrounds and circumstances that forced them together, they’re definitely going to find the things they had lost, for sure. Each entire chapter will be updated biweekly. There'll be three smaller parts per each chapter. Note that this story was written to be an interactive one, with polls at the end of each parts deciding on what happens next. Though, the polls for this story won't be available on Royal Road updates. (I also upload this in Arcane Odyssey forum, and it's currently the only place where I open the polls and use the poll results from.)
