《Jump-Verse: Prelude》Chapter 4

Okimi squirmed in the bed, his eyes shut so hard that it hurt. He felt pain in every part of his body, and it didn't stop. In his mind he kept picturing a hand with a black Umbras Cube punching a hole through him, and he just stood there, screaming in agony. He felt like he would actually scream when a cold voice suddenly startled him.
"Get up."
He jolted awake to find Naruto, Deku, and Jotaro standing in front of his hospital bed. He stared at them from a moment. "Wha-"
He fainted from the blood suddenly rushing to his head, and hit the bed once more.
"..."
The three stood in silence. Jotaro had a slightly annoyed look on his face. Finally Naruto walked up to Okimi and slapped his face repeatedly, not too hard, but hard enough to wake him back up.
Okimi's eyes fluttered open, and he lifted his upper body, slower this time, and stared at them.
"Uh...wow," he started saying. "It actually worked. I can't believe it..."
"What worked?" Deku asked.
"Well, my experiment. I've been working on it for ages."
He searched for his lab coat, which had his phone, and found it on a chair next to his bed. He grabbed his phone and pulled up his camera, then started recording. Deku started protesting.
"Um, before you start recording again, we actually need to ask some questions first."
"But my data-"
"-can and will wait," Jotaro interrupted. "Right now, we need to find out why you're here and what you know about those other guys we were fighting. So tell us."
Okimi looked at them seriousness written all over their faces. He let out a sigh, and began explaining how he got there.

A young man in a local manga shop looked at his watch. He still had about three hours left until he closed up shop. But when he looked around the shop and noticed no one was there, he decided he might get away with closing up early and getting home. Who goes to cafes at 8 p.m. anyway?
He started to resign himself to this idea when suddenly the bell on top of the door jingled. He put his keys down, wondering who would want to visit a place like this so late? There were two men and one woman. She was wearing a loose, wooly sweater, with a black, short skirt with flats. Her hair was tied into a messy, yellow bun, with a purple hair clip. She wore horn-rimmed glasses, and her skin was a peachy color, with naturally rosy cheeks. Her eyes were bright and cheery, but something seemed off about her smile. Like it was a bit crazy.
One of the guys wore a black leather jacket with the kanji "death" on the back, and a black t-shirt underneath. He wore black military boots and dark blue, baggy jeans. His hair was sleek and pointed back. He seemed annoyed about something, or maybe he was annoyed about everything.
The next man was the most intimidating. He wore a blazer, with sleeves that stopped at his elbows, and dress pants, black, as the employee expected. His hair was short to the point of a buzz cut, and was a little spiky. He dress shoes clacked on the floor, and the other two followed, as they walked to find some manga.
"Erm, can I help you three?" the shop owner asked. All of them stared at him and said nothing, the one in the blazer being the most intimidating. The man in the leather jacket walked up to the counter, and placed some cash on it. "three coffees," he said, smirking mischievously. The man quickly got some cups and gave them their orders, scared at what they might do if they were denied something. With their drinks, the three went upstairs to read their own separate series: the one in the leather jacket to Stardust Crusaders, the one with the sweater took MHA, and the man in the blazer took Naruto.

"Remember, after you read each series, describe the protagonist's powers with detail. We can't afford to miss anything." The employee scowled as he looked at the three that forced him to stay the full three hours. They're really trying to read through those? he thought. They're not even gonna be able to finish those series in three hours-
The three suddenly put down the last volumes of each of the series.
"Okay... 'Rick' and 'Sadie'," the man in the blazer started.
"Wait. Those are seriously our names?" Rick asked.
Hold on, they already finished those? But Naruto has, like, over 70 volumes, and MHA isn't even done yet! The employee stared at them in confusion before Sadie's crazy stare caught him. He quickly went back into the kitchen and decided to stay there until these weirdos left.
"What are we supposed to call you? Carl?" Rick went on.
"...Report what you found out," Carl demanded. They all explained each protagonists' powers, from Naruto's Biju to Jotaro's time manipulation and Deku's Blackwhip.
Once they were done, they took other books to read too, commenting on new powers they saw.
"This...Ultra Instinct. It will be a nuisance to deal with him like that."
"What about the ginger with the horn in his face? That looks weird."
"Huh... I just remember that kid being made of rubber or something... but he turns into 'bounce man'? Jeez, why is this manga so loooooong?"
"This guy just claps... and his brother's a robot? huh? Or, wait, is that armor...?"
"That's not Shonen Jump, dumbass."
After a while they started wrapping up their research when Sadie approached them both with a new manga. She had a look of concern on her face. "This man here... he seems like he could be a bit of a problem."
They look at the book she placed down.
"...What is this?" Carl mumbled.
"You're worried about some bald dude?" Rick looked at the cover. A bald man with red gloves on had his fist up, which was steaming.
As they read on though they could see her concern. None of the enemies he fought ever won. Well, the battles he was actually in, anyway.
"Damn," Rick said. "He does seem kinda strong. Nothing we can't handle though. And that lame-ass costume..."
Carl and Sadie silently agreed. They soon left the store and walked into the empty streets.
"We done with the fake names?" Riku sighed.
"We now have the information we need to hold an easy match against them," Crayle said.
"Ooh, I can't wait!" Sadia squealed.
"Soon the day of reckoning will arrive. But first, I must gather an army..."
