《Jump-Verse: Prelude》Chapter 3

Naruto and Sadia proceeded to have a brief stare-off. Finally, she spoke. "I don't care how tough you are. You don't think we prepared for this day?"
"It won't matter, you can count on that."
"Hmph." Sadia snapped her fingers and her hair tied itself into a bun. She delicately took off her heels. She then extended her arms, and the whips came out of her wrists, but they suddenly hardened into long staves. She twirled them around and then launched herself at Naruto, her incredible speed almost taking Naruto off guard. Almost. He bent backwards, his lower legs supporting his strength, and pulled out two kunais.
He tried to slash her with it, but somehow he missed, and she used one of her staves to dig into the ground and bring her back to balance. Naruto tried to slash her again, but she block with a staff. The electrical current immediately traveled through the metal weapon, and Naruto winced as he was shocked bad. He started thinking about how to play out his next move, as using his fist or kunais were now ruled out: they both conducted electricity.
He decided that if he simply moved fast enough, then he wouldn't have to be worried about getting shocked in the first place, and entered sage mode.He rushed toward the foe and started attacking. She blocked most of the moves, but got stuck by some.
Deku watched the battle from afar amazed at their ridiculous speed Incredible! I wouldn't even be able to keep up with that! Sorry I'm not much help...
"Damn. Pretty fast, huh?" Riku said.
"Yeah..." Deku mumbled in agreement.
"..."
"..."
Deku whirled around and immediately put out his hands out to hit Riku with a Delaware Smash, but, as he feared, it was too late and Riku was behind him before he knew it. Deku braced himself for the oncoming doughnutization, when someone suddenly shouted out.
"STAR PLATINUM!"
A purple hue surrounded the area, and then gray. A man walked into the battlefield, watching Riku poised to strike Deku right in the back, but Riku didn't move. No one moved. It seemed as though the entire world was completely silent. Naruto had an expression showing that he had just taken a hit somewhere, and Sadia had a look of wild happiness, even though she was the one mainly taking hits. The man looked at Deku for a moment. "Damn brat. Gonna get himself killed..." he grumbled. He then tugged on his cap. "Alright. Let's do this already. STAR PLATINUM!"

"ORA!"

Deku heard what sounded like hundreds of punches at once and then a crash. He turned around to see a man-sized hole in the nearest house. Naruto and Sadia stopped their battle for a moment to see what was happening. When Naruto saw the hole, he smiled. "Nice one, Deku!"
"Pffffffft!" Sadia started laughing at Riku's misfortune, breaking her elegant demeanor. "weak-ass punk! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"Riku punched the debris that buried him, making it fly a couple hundred yards away. "The hell you just say to me, crazy bitch?!" He jumped out the hole, a vein showing in his forehead. "Who did that to me?! Show yourself!" The smoke cleared, revealing a strong-looking man in a black coat and pants. His hair protruded through the back of his cap, which had a gold engraving of a hand on it.
"Good grief," he started to say. "Keep it down, moron. You'll just piss me off even more. Do you know how long it took to find you?" He looked around and surveyed his surroundings. "Jeez. Looks like I landed in some comic book place again..."
Deku stared at this stranger that just saved his life. Suddenly, his eyes lit up with familiarity.
"M-Mr. Jotaro?!"
Jotaro turned to Deku again. "Now that I think about it, haven't I seen you and that blond somewhere once?"
Riku started getting even more angry by the fact that he was being ignored.
"Listen to me when I'm talking!" He rushed toward Jotaro, who didn't move an inch. Suddenly, Crayle stood in front of Riku, taking what seemed like a very fatal hit. Riku threw his hand back. "S-sorry about that, Crayle."
It is understandable. When you get angry, you speed is uncontrollable. You'll need to learn to take a few hits without losing your temper." He walked to the portal, completely unfazed by Riku's accidental attack.
"Sadia, Riku, let's go," he said. They started following him when Naruto jumped behind him, trying to get a hit in. "You're not going anywhere!" he shouted.

But right as he said that, He was suddenly launched hundreds of feet away into the bottom floor of the hospital. "Naruto!" Deku shouted. Naruto slowly got out of the hole, clenching his stomach. What the heck was that? he thought. Deku and Jotaro attacked, trying to punch them, but the trio phased through their fists and into the portal. They looked back at them, with a surprised look on their faces, as the three menaces walked through the portal and closed it. They were gone.
Naruto stumbled, still holding on to his stomach and on the verge of vomiting. A hit like that would have done something, sure, but Naruto was strong. He could have taken a hit like that and walked it off with no problem. So you did it sting so much? The pain slowly subsided, and his arched back slowly rose. "Are you okay, Naruto?" Deku asked concerned from Naruto's limping. "I'm fine," he replied. "But those jerks got away..."
There was a moment of silence as the three heroes thought about the battle they had just fought. Then Jotaro broke it. "That other kid probably knows something about this."
"Huh?" Deku and Naruto said in unison.
"The kid at the hospital. He was lying on a stretcher and I walked past him while he was unconscious. His clothes were different from the others there."
The other two remembered who Jotaro was talking about.
"You're right. But if we're going to talk to him, we'll need to be careful. We don't know if he was working for them and then they betrayed him for some reason..." Deku said.
Naruto was already making his way to the hospital, the pain now completely gone. "Alright, let's talk to this guy. He might know about something about what happened to the others too."
The three walked on, hoping to find some answers about the mysterious trio that terrorized the village.

Crayle stared at the fused Umbras Cube. One probably wouldn't be able to support the massive amount of energy they would need to carry out their plan, and three combining all their power still barely be enough. He needed to find more to ensure nothing would set back his plan. However, three of the cubes were enough to start creating his army. "Are we just going to stand here staring at a block, or are we going to get started?" Sadia asked, breaking Crayle out of his trance.
"Hmph," he grumbled, then held the cube in front of them. He let go, and the cube levitated in front of them. "Before we start anything, we will need to conduct research on Jump Force. They have most likely gained new powers while we were dormant. Four years is more than enough time for that type of thing."
"How exactly are we supposed to do that?" Riku scowled, still sour from Jotaro getting hits on him.
"We will lay low, and stay among the humans. There should be manga shops nearby that we will spend our days in, taking in as much information as we can about our enemies. The cube started glowing, ready to comply to Crayle's orders.
"We will create disguises so we will also seem like nothing but ordinary humans. But be sure not to make yourself stand out with any distinguishing features. He looked at Sadia, to which she replied, "What?"
The cube started glowing brighter, and the light soon enveloped their bodies. When the light would subside, they would seem like completely different people.

There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
