《Prelude to Forever : Alden & Maine》One Shot #5 - First Things First

Lola Nidora's words hit home. Funny how reel and real seamlessly merge, and the KS scripts seemed to be art imitating life. Alden and Maine were put on the spot with her questions but the words of wisdom enlightened him. There was only one thing left to do. First things first, he needed to clear things up with Maine.
The shoot was already packing up; they were done for the day. Maine was gathering her notes and script, already changed into jeans, sneakers and a pink top. Amazing how she still looked fresh after a busy day. She smiled as he approached.
"Hey." He said, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "Got a few minutes?"
She nodded and motioned to load her things in the van before they talked. As she approached, he reached for her hand and led her to a park bench, away from the cast and crew.
"Is something bothering you?" Maine asked, looking at him curiously. They settled into the bench with his arm looped through hers, their fingers intertwined. He looked at their hands, not knowing how to start.
"Maine," he said, clearing his throat. "Does this bother you?" He asked, raising their joined hands. She looked at their hands, taking her time to reply.
"Ok, let me rephrase that. Ok lang ba sayo na nilalambing kita?" She removed her hand from his. Bad sign.
"Ooo..ok lang I guess, but it does make me wonder why you do it." She wasn't looking at him.
"Isn't it obvious?" He was surprised with her answer.
"Huh? Obvious na ano? " She looked genuinely perplexed. "You know Alden, I would never assume anything, unless you tell me."
"So...assuming na we're not discussing this now, you'd let me continue doing these things?"

"Teka, we talked last Saturday, remember? I did say you went overboard?" She was looking at him now, moving slightly away from him. He pulled her back, holding her hand again. Having her close soothed him.
"I know. Your words, Lola Nidora's, I was thinking hard last night." He squeezed her hand and kissed it. " I really like you Maine." There, he said it.
For the longest time, she was quiet and it scared him. She took out her phone and started texting. Texting? At a time like this when he wore his heart on his sleeve. She was smiling by the time she was done.
A message alert from his phone disrupted the silence. Twice, two messages, one after another. He looked at her questioningly, as she motioned for him to check his phone. The messages were from her. His heart beat faster when he read what she sent, one message, sent twice.
"Ano to?" He asked although he knew. Like her, he didn't want to assume.
"You wanted my address diba? Or was that part of the script?" She was smiling naughtily, like the cat that got the cream.
"Yan ha, twice sent to be sure you got it. Sa Sunday, six pm. Don't be late." Bossy, sexy Maine, wrapping him around her finger again. How did she know that he was ready to face her family in their turf? Smart-ass but he liked it.
And at that moment, he realized he more than just liked her.

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

Unlimited Phantasm
DEATH While there is a difference as to when a person or object will "end," it is certain that they will all arrive at that point because death is not something that "arrives," but rather is something already contained within an object at its creation and certainly bound to happen as part of the principle of causality.
