《The Alpha's Silent Mate》30

"Guys! I think I'm falling!" I scream with ecstasy.
I plunge to the ground while gripping the broom handle for my life.
This is going to be one nasty fall.
"Oh my." Argia face palms.
"How are we going to fly into the castle if you can't even keep the broom up?" Valo shouts.
"Well sorry! They don't teach the Witch curriculum to shifters at the High school!" I say after tumbling onto the ground and laying with the broom beside me.
Who knew flying on one of those things is so difficult? Harry Potter definitely made it look easy.
I really wish Mia taught me more witch things when I lived with her here.
After my flying lesson with Valo and Argia, I'm supposed to be training with Lorenzo. Then after training, it's potion-making lessons with Dritë and Leggero.
It's vital that I disguise myself as a white witch in order for our plan to work and this apparently is the only way.
"Please come inside everyone! We have new members to welcome!" Dritë shouts from the balcony.
I internally groan. More names to remember. I just hope they are okay with sharing a living space with two wolves.
I stand up and dust myself off. First impressions matter, and imagine a greeting a future queen that looks raggedy and has grass and leaves in her hair.
Argia, Valo and I walk into the house from the backyard. At least there'll be room for plenty more white witches to move in.
For sure a pack of forty wolves could live here, this place is huge!
In the kitchen, five people are standing with their luggage all around the kitchen and living room floor. They're probably waiting to be introduced before they unpack.
"Argia, Valo, Alpha princess Chloe." Dritë introduces us first.
"Limyé, Khanya, Lumo, Haske, Ina." Dritë motions to them in a clockwise manner.
"Khanya, Ina and I are from Africa." The African guy, Haske states kindly and bows his head to me.
I can assume that he and Ina are related, because they are definitely identical twins. Their appearances are uncannily alike.

Khanya looks to be about sixteen, which surprises me.
Lumo has blue eyes, black hair and a thin moustache. He is obviously Italian.
Limyé has an open and friendly demeanor, with brown hair, brown eyes and a friendly smile.
"They've already met everyone else, so we can just take you to your rooms. Khanya and Ina will be sharing a room. Haske, and Lumo can bunk together. Limyé, you will be sharing a room with Leggero. Okay, everyone is paired up. Let's get moving, witches." Fény says, holding a clipboard and pen.
"Thank you, Mama Fény." Limyé speaks in a thick Haitian accent.
After our little introduction, I exit the kitchen and look for Lorenzo in the basement where all the weaponry and training gear is.
As expected, I find him carrying a heavy looking duffel bag and another gym bag. I offer to carry the gym bag for him.
We walk together in comfortable silence as usual with occasional mind-links about random things.
When we reach the backyard, Lorenzo puts the bags to the side and blindfolds me.
The whole purpose of the blindfold is so we can fight and interact with the environment without our sight.
I feel the gentle breeze cease on my right, letting me know that my opponent - well, my mate - is on my right. I aim for his stomach and successfully land a not-so-gentle kick.
A fist swipes across my face, and I swiftly catch his arm and pin him to the ground.
It is important to not let a hit take all of your attention in battle. Suddenly, my arm is yanked and my feet are swept off the ground. I land on my back with my hands pinned above my head and a knee pressed on my chest.
I lift my legs up and wrap them around my opponent's lower torso. I roughly roll over to my left and so does he. I find myself straddling his abdomen and pinning his arms to his sides.
He struggles for a few moments, but I have him in a death grip. After a few grunts and attempts to get away, he gives in by tapping me twice.

I remove the blindfold and smirk at Lorenzo.
"I actually like this position."
His voice comes out gruffer and deeper than usual. A warm pleasant feeling washes over my body.
It's his wolf in control.
I jump off of him and walk a few feet backwards.
Oh brother. Now I have to deal with the horny wolf also known as my mate.
"No time for games, Ford. We need to train." I say, hiding my amusement.
"You just said my name." he smirks. His golden eyes twinkle with mischief. "Now I just want to hear you scream it."
Now that sounds better than training any day!
Shut up, horny bitch.
In my inner conflict with my wolf, I don't notice my mate come closer to me until his front is lightly grazing mine.
"Ford, I'm much stronger than you. In fact, it would be screaming name."
The words involuntarily rolled out of my mouth.
I let out a string of colorful vulgar language at Kasey.
"Do you know how much it turns me on to see you dominating like that?" He nuzzles his face into my neck, leaving a trail of light kisses.
"Ford, let Lorenzo take control. We need to train."
"First give me hea-"
"Chloe! Lorenzo! We have a problem!" Mia interrupts.
Forgetting the very bawdy comment Ford was about to make, I run to a distressed Mia. I mind-link Lorenzo to follow me.
She grabs both our arms and pulls us into the house. We zoom out of the kitchen, down some hallways, a few turns then we finally get to our destination.
Everyone in the house stands in a bedroom, clearly one of the girls' room. Lumiere is soflty wailing in Solas' arms as Mia pulls us into the crowded room and we push past the other witches so we could see what's happening.
On the carpeted floor, Khanya lay motionless. Her eyes are wide open and glowing bright, as if they are LED lights. Her once dark hair is as white as clean sheets.
"What's happening to her?" I ask the witches.
"I-I don't know. We unpacked our things, th-th-then she said she had a headache. N-next thing sh-she's she's li-like this." A worried Ina stutters out.
Haske gives her a comforting hug while Luce, Dritë and Fény try saying multiple spells to help Khanya. Unfortunately, none of them work.
In all the chaos, nobody notices Mia and Leggero approaching with three vials of blue liquid until they are crouching near Khanya's body.
Mia chants a spell while Leggero pours the blue liquid on the floor all around Khanya. He is careful to not let the potion touch her skin, clothing or hair.
Her eyes abruptly shut and the potion evaporates into a small steam. Her eyes flutter open and she gasp for air.
Immediately, a glass of water is produced and she drinks it greedily.
The males are hastily ushered out of the room now that the scene is over. Mia,Luce and Fény sit on the floor in order to keep close watch on Khanya. Dritë, Argia and I stand with our eyes glued to Khanya. Ina silently sits cross-legged on one of the two beds.
"Khanya, can you tell us what happened?" Mama Fény asks the million-dollar question.
Khanya stays silent for a few minutes before she says in a soft voice that would take werewolf hearing to even pick up on.
"I just had a vision."
The other witches gasp. The fact that she is so young and just had a vision is a revelation to them.
"Can you tell us more? Like what you saw?" Dritë asks.
"Alpha princess Chloe. You will succeed in defeating your enemy."
My heart flutters and my hopes shoot up. My kingdom will be saved and things will go back to normal.
Wait, why do I have a feeling that there's...
"But at a cost."
There it is. I mentally face palm myself with a spatula.
By now, everyone is listening intently. Except for Ina, who is yet to know about this situation.
"A life."

Displacement
or, Deux Navires Passant dans la Nuit If you wake up in a new world, with only your memories of home to guide you, you have to trust the first people you meet. The first people Leah meets seem to know her - but not her. Leah is thrust into a fighter's role that does not quite suit her, and those who 'rescued' her do their best to help her fit in. They hint at a world that Leah can only vaguely understand without serious research and exploration, but how to do that research, when everyone believes her to be a local of this place, and too many questions might draw unwanted attention? And what about home? The more Leah learns about this world, the less she believes that she woke up on the right side of the bed - or more accurately, on the right side of the conflict. With magic being strictly regulated in her current "home," maybe it's time to uproot and look for a new set of allies... -- Displacement is a queer / lgbt bodyswap isekai: Leah Armande falls out of a Quebecois city into an unfamiliar fantasy world, and Leah Talesh falls out of her adventuring party's homeland and into an unfamiliar industrial world. The story follows both women as they navigate their new surroundings, trying at times to find a way home, at times just to pass for a local, and at times to actually make a life for themselves in their new world. Expect in-depth politics and worldbuilding, sapphic moments, foibles, and far too much time spent either in libraries or convalescing (or sometimes both).
