《The Alpha's Silent Mate》19

"Wal-king into the lion's den, I hope I don't get ea-ten." I sing using the Jack and Jill melody.

I happily skip like a maniac as Kaden, Anastasia, Kella and I cross into the restricted lands of our territory.

"She's lost it."

"Does she need meds?"

Anastasia and Kaden deliberately left the pack link open so I could hear every word they said. Not that it bothers me.

As a safety measure, the three follow behind me in wolf form and tiger form while I walk in my human form carrying their clothes in a red duffel bag.

"Stormy weather!" I shout into the dark.

I strain my ears and focus on my surroundings.

I can hear the faint beat of three hearts behind me and many more tiny ones belonging to the woodland creatures surrounding me.

With my perfect night vision, I see a single small leaf fall to the ground. My eyes dart to the tree it comes from.

A smile makes its way to my face.

"Why is she smiling like that?"

A growl reverberates in the cool night air. A dark figure drops from a tree and lands in front of me.

Kaden rushes to stand in front of me and growls at the threat.

"Call off your dogs and cat, princess." The figure's hoarse voice snarls out.

"Stand down." I order Kaden.

Kaden returns to his position behind me alongside Kella and Anastasia.

The figure pulls down its hood and gives me a sly smirk.

"We meet again, Storm." I say nonchalantly.

"I'm surprised you remembered the passcode." The smirk on her face vanishes and turns into a half smile." It's been a while, hey."

"Yeah. We need your help." I say with a smile.

"Of course you do, princess. Why else would you intrude here with your pets?" She folds her muscular arms across her chest and tilts her head to the side.

"The future queen of the witches was kidnapped and is being held hostage by my wretched aunt and rogues."

"Isn't this the witches' battle then?" Her darkening grey eyes turn a shade just lighter than black.

"It's also ours because remember Kenneth? Yeah, his mate is back for vengeance. I thought she'd move on because she is a white witch, you know? White witches are usually the good Samaritans of the world."

Storm looks thoughtful for a good few minutes.

I just hope she's with us during this battle. We don't know how many rogues we're dealing with here and this might spark a war.

Storm is our greatest weapon in battle and it didn't take an idiot to figure out that we need her.

"Fine. Ain't like I got other things to do."

I let out a sigh of relief.

Now let's just hope the moon goddess is on our side.

~

"Are we all ready?"

All the two hundred wolf and witch warriors in front of me nod.

Storm, who took the position beside me, pulls down the hood of her cloak and gives me a nod.

I lead the procession to the partially rundown warehouse where the rogue witches and wolves are meeting in.

Our scents are hidden and tracks cleared, thanks to the witch warriors provided by Stellas Harmony and Courtney. It's so much easier to work together when it's the females making the important decisions.

We all surround the warehouse to make sure the rogues don't escape.

"Now!"

A full on raid breaks out. Glass is shattered, doors broken down and growls fill the air.

I shift into my wolf and run into the massacre.

Suddenly I am flanked on my side and fall to the ground. I get up and growl at the three dirty wolves surrounding me.

One of them lunges at me, aiming for my throat. I raise a large paw and slash it at his face. Blood gushes out of the wound and the other two wolves start backing away.

Cowards.

"Silver-loaded gun!" Someone shouts.

Oh, silver bullets, they're playing dirty now? Well, at least we have an ace up our sleeve.

"Storm you know what to do."

A few metres away from me, I spot the cloaked Storm nodding at me. She throws off her cloak, displaying all her weapons: assorted knives, pistols and long, sharp swords. Her look is completed with her signature smirk and bloodlusted black eye.

She looks like a whole Rose Wilson.

In a flash she launches knives, accurately hitting the enemies. She becomes a blur in the bloody mess.

I look around and see the rogues being overpowered, but we had a lot of injured warriors, but no casualties. Yet.

There must have been a hundred or so rogues.

"Trackers, try to find the witch princess's scent!" I command.

It should be fairly easy to find her, she's a royal. Her scent is different.

About eleven wolves join me in sniffing the place while the wounded were being cared for.

"Alpha, we aren't picking up anything. Maybe they are underground." One of my trackers suggest.

Well crap! Why didn't I think of that?

I knock on the floor boards and listen to the sound.

"Yo princess, what're you doing?" Storm says in a bored tone. She barely has any scratches.

"They could be underground."

I continue knocking on the floor, hoping to hear a hollow sound.

"I got an idea. Everybody move out!" Storm shouts.

Unfortunately, her request falls on deaf ears.

"Out!" I shout over the pack link.

The wolves all file out, the witches follow.

"Stand back princess." She warns.

She pulls out a loaded magazine and shoves it into the guns' chambers.

I shift back so the gunfire doesn't affect my sensitive wolf ears.

She holds the two guns in front of her and starts shooting every corner of the room.

I flinch at the amount of noise this creates. How is she not affected by this?

She's the one and only Storm. A ravager, dummy.

The goddess really chose the perfect wolf for me. Note the sarcasm.

"Cease fire!" I shout.

The continuous gunshots recede and stop. "Sup?"

Storm follows my gaze and zeroes in on the faint light poking out from a few bullet holes on the floor in a corner.

Bingo.

Storm walks over and crouches to see what's underneath.

"Nothin' princess."

"Wait!"

I see something.

Now how do we get underground?

"We need to get down there. There's something."

She nods and pulls out a sword from the sheath on her hip.

The floor is sliced faster than I could register.

I stomp my foot in the middle of the triangular shape the sword created on the wood. It falls under and reveals an underground level. I jump through the floor and Storm follows.

The room is white with only a quaint chair in the middle. A single black feather lay on it.

"Maybe it's a message." Storm says as she picks it up with her gloved hand.

The feather writhes and falls to the floor like dust.

A small breeze picks up and an eerie voice that sends unpleasant shivers down my spine speaks.

"Your research was well done

But I'm not finished having my fun.

To find me, this path you will take.

The place where you made your first mistake."

Kaceline's cackling plays out when the voice finishes speaking.

I take a deep breath to calm myself down. I do like being made a fool.

"Sorry princess, but this is for your own safety." Storm says as she places a hand on my neck.

"What-"

I feel a small pinch before falling to the ground. What's happening to me? Is Storm doing this? Is she on their side?

Questions flood into my head but my mouth can't make words.

"St-I-You." I couldn't even form a coherent sentence.

My eyelids droop as I fall into a black abyss.
