《Tempest's Embrace》Chapter 14

3 Days pass...
And it feels like menacingly, the days were slower and frustratingly long. As if father time intentionally prolonged each day after that to torture him.
The more time they spent at sea, the more anxious he was to jump overboard to not confront the smoldering gaze of the spitfire in his cabin. It seemed as if she pinned him as the worst of the worst because he would not bend to her will. She wants to roam the ship. Leave the cabin. But he refused. His answer was an unwavering, No!
He tightens his fist on the railing not due to the lulling bobs of the ship over the rough tides to steady himself but to control his frustration and calm the heat on his skin.
He drew in a ragged breath seeking more air, his lungs were refusing to expand.
"I am tired of being on this ship," she complained.
"We are weeks away from the nearest port there is nothing more to do," he explains with a strained tone of impatience.
He turned away and rummages through a chest, distracted by his task.
"Well at least let me leave the confines of this cabin," she said.
He stood straight and turned to her. The soft gaze of hope in those eyes dimmed with his answer.
"Absolutely not!"
"I want to go above deck," she clamored off the bed towards him.
Determination in her gaze held him still. His jaw clenched and his stomach dipped at the view of her.
Wild -glorious uncombed hair, a simple shirt of his; barely hung on to her petite form or left much to the imagination as she stood trembling before him in rage like a wind-kissed rose.
He would be bloody insane to let her walk out of the cabin dressed as she was.

Resolute with his answer again he shook his head. "No."
She stomped her foot like an errant child demanding to go above deck. But his answer only escalated their arguing.
Heatedly they stared each other down. Her eyes brimming with tears and anger. He was brewing with something much more nefarious in his mind as he faced her.
His gaze fixated on her stance quickly roamed over her from head to toe. But, his mind only whispered...
With a curse, he shook his head...tightening his eyes and looking away. But she would not back down. And the fact that he would turn and leave ignoring her plea's only enraged her more.
He turned away and she threw his cup at his back. The heavy thump stopped him. He spun around to look at her. His nostrils flared. His self-control.... limited.
"I am weary of being locked up in this....cabin," she furiously spoke through shaky breaths.
He stared at her impassively.
"I. Want. Air." she cried.
His jaw clenched. He did not budge.
"You want air?" he hissed through his teeth.
"Yes!!!" she screams.
He lunged for her. She put up a useless but good fight in his arms as he hauled her close and walked with her towards the other side of the cabin.
Her petite form squirmed in his hold as he steadied her before him. His fingers harsh and shaking held her in place fully aware of her soft skin, abruptly exposed in their scuffle. Heavily breathing he looked down at her and skimmed over the soft plump breast that heaved with each furious breath she took. His heart slammed beneath his ribs as the pert nipple tightened.
They lifted away from the tantalizing bud and landed on her moist, long ridiculous lashes that fluttered and hid those gorgeous orbs that moments ago held hell and defiance glittering in their depths.

He immediately spun her around. And violently reached for the latch on the porthole and yanked it open. His breaths in spurts were making him dizzy and her closeness only made it difficult to stand.
"Here. is. your. bloody. air." he slammed his palm on the wall near it. She flinched. He spoke slowly in a dangerous tone that only made her whimper.
"I don't want another outburst like that again."
The sudden sobs that finally pierced the silence in the cabin had his heart dropping to his feet.
He lowered his head struggling with the urge to wrap his arms around her and pull her close but quickly he pulled back. And left.
"Cap'n?" Quinn called to him.
He drew in a ragged breath blinking. Then turned to his first mate.
The curious gaze on Quinn's face disappeared as Justin stood to his full height and then faced him.
"What?" he felt the irritation and tensions tightening on his shoulders.
The fidgeting and nervous glances of a Quinn thinned his patience.
"What. Is. It, Quinn?" he hissed with emphasis on his name and annoyingly watched him look over the railing.
He followed his gaze and then paused. His jaw dropped open. He shook his head and slowly his face turned from awe to deadly rage.
"he roared as he stormed away from the railing leaving Quinn to sheepishly snicker.
He shook his head with a toothy grin and whistled as he watched parchment and different items floating by on the water slowly sinking. And laughed as he saw a petite hand slowly drop more out of the porthole in the distance.
"Poor lass!" he breathed out loud scratched his head squinting at her fate.
"Ye mean poor Captain," Bellamy stepped forward to his side and shook his head as more things floated by.
Leaning back they looked at one another with an exasperated glance as the Captain could be heard below shouting to the top of his lungs.

The Good Crash: An Oral History of the Post-Scarcity Collapse
"Don't we all feel, deep down, that we deserve the apocalypse?" APRIL, 2028—Global capitalism has collapsed. America has sealed itself off from the outside world, and inside its borders, a revolution rages. All it took was one incredible little machine. That machine turned into two, then four, then eight... like a virus, the replicators spread. As a work of oral history, The Good Crash features over 50 interviews with key witnesses to the events of 2027. The text is rendered in the words used by the interviewees themselves, with light editing for clarity and concision. As such, the book contains language and themes that are not appropriate for children.By capturing the voices to the people at the very root of the revolution, journalist and historian R. Vondersnitch has traced the origins and aftermath of the replicators' rapid spread. Crucially, the book also includes perspectives and testimony from those who attempted to stop the spread of the reps. "Some of these are heroes, too, in their own ways," the author writes in the book's introductory note.

Well you could read this story if you want but what's the fun in that really? I'm pretty much writing this (my first) story on a whim so it is certainly not perfect nor is it likely to be good (but what do I know maybe I'm secretly talented). It also might have tons of tons of errors beacuse I'm dumb and sometimes it's just so boring to proof read and you just wanna send a chapter out y'know. Regardless, whether this story brings you the most euphoric delight or illicits the most intense abhorrence I wanna know what you think and how I can improve, reader person, especially if you read this far! ( please reveiw or something)
