《Red Whispers || Wanda Maximoff X Reader》Chapter 31 || Date Night

"Don't let your guard down," Wanda says as she throws another blast at me. I dodge it and shoot one at her but she deflects it and flies up, then bullets herself down at me. Super speeding away, I make a lasso out of my blue energy and catch her ankle with it.

She lets out a squeal while I tug her down to me, catching her in my arms. Releasing a breath of surprise, her eyes meet mine with the smile of a little kid in a candy store, breathing coming to a slow as she relaxes in my grip.

"Could say the same for you Maximoff."

With a sly grin, I lean down to place a quick kiss on her soft and sweet lips. However, upon pulling away, she just grabs my shirt and pulls me back down so that our lips connect with more force this time.

"Glad to see you two finally figured things out."

Tony walks outside onto the grass with Steve by his side, smiling cheekily at us. I place Wanda on her feet and we walk towards my brother and Steve. I snag Tony's bag of chips while Wanda questions what he means by that.

"Well it's not like we all don't see you two stripping each other naked during dinner."

Steve rolls his eyes at Tony's inappropriate comment and offers up a supportive smile, "what he means to say, is that we all notice how you two look at each other and how you act around one another. We are happy you found your way."

Feeling a pair of eyes on me with most likely that adorable yet dorky smile, I roll my eyes and toss a chip at her head.

"Eyes off Red Eyes. No sappy shit in front of Freezer Burn and Optimus Prime."

Patting the two men's shoulders I push passed them, only to hear Tony shouting at me from behind.

"Hey I am way cooler than a Transformer!"

I keep walking but stop in my tracks, then stare Wanda down.

"What?" She questions but I just shrug, smirking at her devilishly.

"Put something nice on, be ready by 6."

"For...what, exactly?"

Tony and Steve stare at me with knowing smirks, Tony's wide and proud as he watches the scene unfold in front of himself.

"For our date."

"Where exactly are you taking me?"

I tell Friday to take the wheel as I turn towards her.

"Now if I told you it would really be a surprise now would it?"

She rolls the window down, letting the wind move her hand in a wave-like motion. I let the music fill my ears as I watch the way her eyes absorb our surroundings, the trees, the clouds above, the cars passing by. We've been driving for a few hours now, but we reach the busy street. Wanda's eyes are wide with amazement at the bright lights and tall towers.

"New York City?"

"That is correct. But we will not be paying a visit to what is...left of the Avengers' tower." She giggles while unbuckling. I get out and super speed to her side, opening her door for her.

I tell Friday to park the car in one of Tony's garage's in the city and the car disappears.

I take in Wanda's hand and spin her, tugging her towards me for a short kiss. While it may be short, my lips can still feel hers curling upwards in glee. Giggling, she pulls away and kisses my cheek.

"So, the Big Apple, huh? What are we doing here?"

We walk along the sidewalks, very few noticing us, thankfully. Nobody really knows who I am since I was missing most of my life, and Wanda is still a new face to the Avengers' family. There's a few who take prolonged glances, clearly noticing who she is slightly, but not enough to stop us and beg for a picture. It's peaceful. Walking in the city, seeing cars honking at one another, people running to and from work, others talking, messing around, shopping.

I love the city, the hustle, I always have. Ever since I was a kid. Something about a city just fascinates me, especially New York. It's bright and loud during the day, yet still bright and loud at night. It truly is the city that never sleeps. It's like a tag team of people, the day workers and graveyard shift workers all taking up the streets throughout the 24-hour days.

She continues to press on about where we are going but I keep dodging or shutting her down until we reach a set of stairs. Leading her up, she tilts her head in confusion at me.

"It's called the High Line. One point five mile-long walk. Old railroad, park, whatever you want to call it. However..."

I lead her over to the one spot that gives you the perfect sunset view over the Hudson River. My arm reaches behind her back, hand landing on her right hip as I pull her closer. She gasps at the view, smiling brightly.

"It's beautiful."

"I suppose. And not to be sappy but...nothing in this universe comes even close to being as beautiful as you."

With an amused snort, she turns to me, "You're just saying that to butter me up Stark."

"No no, seriously, Maximoff. I mean...well the sunset is pretty damn beautiful...you are just...wow."

Her eyes glimmer at me before she leans in to press a soft kiss against my cheek, "you're sweet."

She turns her attention back to the sunset. I join her and we watch as the sun disappears behind the horizon, a slight green tint appearing before it's gone.

"Wait until you see this," I whisper in her ear, placing myself behind her, slowly turning her to face the city behind us. I can feel her breath catch in her throat as she sees all of New York City lighting up, building lights flipping on, billboards, street lamps, headlights, everything.

My hands slide down her sides to hold her hands from behind, my lips resting beside her right ear.

"The sun may have set, but the city still lives in light throughout the darkness."

Her head tilts to face me, eyes full of appreciation and adoration for this moment, for us, as I am sure mine do.

"How on earth did I get so lucky to find someone like you?"

Shrugging, I lean in to kiss her, then pull away shortly after.

"I'm pretty great, aren't I?"

"Andddd moment ruined."

She playfully punches my shoulder before we make our way further down until our stomachs decide that we are hungry. I grab the attention of a taxi to take us to Times Square. We walk inside the Hard Rock Cafe which, I know, it is basic and tourist-like, but she is a sucker for stuff like this. She is in awe of the Michael Jackson memorabilia, the Beatles, Gwen Stefani, all of that fun stuff they got in glass cases, she's running around in complete amazement.

"This is amazing! I love Gwen Stefani, you know."

Chuckling, I nod and feel the buzzer for our table go off so I am forced to drag her to find the host. Sitting down, we order fairly quickly, Wanda going for a full 5-course meal. Not complaining, though, because that just means more fries for me.

The entire time at the restaurant, I can't help but stare into her eyes, refusing to miss a beat of what she's saying. She is just so happy to talk about things she likes, it's the cutest damn thing ever. She starts telling me about her childhood, games her and Pietro would play, her relationship with her parents. She wasn't closer with either one of them, they both loved her equally as she did them. And then of course she asks me about my past with Tony and my parents.

"It was a lot of...well, competition. Tony and I, we always wanted to one-up the other. He was years older than me but still he loved to show me that he was smarter and stronger. He was my mother's favorite, especially since I wasn't the ideal daughter she wanted. I was sarcastic...then again it runs in the family, I was stubborn, refused to dress girly or make many girl friends. I was 10 when I knew I liked girls, my mom found out and flipped. My dad and I were always the closest, much to Tony's disliking, he hated that Dad loved me more.

He would always interrupt mine and Dad's lessons where he would teach me how he builds and makes things, talk about science with me. Tony was always right there, butting in. He wanted to get my father's love and attention off of me and onto him. It was always a back and forth. But then things started to change when he left for MIT at 15 years old. He would be gone for months, leaving me alone with Mom and Dad. When Tony visited, he would tell me everything, show me things, help me understand. We grew so close, I finally felt like I had a big brother for once. It felt amazing...and then I was taken."

I've never really explained my life to anyone before, no one has asked in all honesty.

"And you were gone for years and came back to a brother flying around in a metal suit with a team of superheroes."

I laugh quietly at her statement and nod, "That...and I came back only to have been lucky enough to meet the woman I plan on falling completely head over heels in love with."

Her eyes sparkle at that, slightly brimming with tears while she reaches for my hand, teeth bright and white as she flashes an adoring smile at me. I feel like my chest has been opened up, my heart sitting on the table for her to take. And she is taking it. I'm giving this woman my heart, something I never do. Every time I have, they left. Well, they died more likely. Dad, Pietro, even Mom despite us not getting along very well. Tony and I are nothing like we used to be. But here's Wanda, wanting to love me, wanting to hold my heart, wanting to protect it with all the strength she's got.

And I'm letting her.
