《Possession》Chapter Sixteen

Lunar's POV
"If you drop me, I'm going to kill you. Please, don't drop me," I whined, looking down at the pool of jelly under us, Parker carrying me on his back patiently. I knew my eyes were playing tricks on me, but we looked way higher than we actually were, and it was terrifying, "Why did we agree on this bet, again?"
"Then stop moving and we'll be good. Also, because we can't say no to a challenge, no matter how stupid it is," He dared to shrug, his throat releasing a laugh at my yelp of almost pulling us off. Mathis and Lucy were already halfway on their planks, Mathis encouraging and helping Lucy balance as she moved. Parker took another step and started laughing all over again, calling out, "This is unfair, he's squirmy!"
"You chose him as your partner!" Mathis and Lucy called in sync, halfway across their plank, and have no mercy in our defeat, "Be glad we didn't go through with blindfolds!"
He thought for a moment before demanding, "Get on the plank."
"What? Why?" I shook my head frantically, glaring at him, "You're going to push me in, aren't you?"
"They said both of us had to cross the plank, but they didn't specify how. So, I need you to shut up and trust me," He laughed at my demise. Whimpering, I got off his back and carefully stood onto the plank, wobbling as he very slowly turned around to face me. He held onto my shoulders as he teased at my expressions, "Some things never change, and those expressions are definitely one of them. Just breathe and step when I step. I will hold onto your shoulders, and you balance the weight... and obviously don't let me fall."
"I-I-I m-much pr-prefer n-not d-doing th-that i-idea," I was growing dizzy, my fear spiking drastically I was certain my violent shaking was going to knock us both off the damn beam.
"And losing this bet and being shamed by Mathis? Your choice," He raised a brow, tilting his head as I glared at him. How dare he weaponize such information against me and be so correct.
"G-Go fuck thyself," I spat, following him with slow steps, "C-Can't we forget this bet and elope to Alaska where she'll never find us? Overcome by the wilderness around us and risk our chances with the bears and moose?"
"Maybe herd goats while building our home from scratch. Getting stocked up on supplies for the winter and making wool blankets?" He smiled, looking around in wonder like it was a fond memory, a beautiful plan to form and create.
"Why goats? Why not cows?" My brows furrowed, shaking my head at him, "Cows live in Alaska."
"Even better; Buffalo," He grinned from ear to ear, glancing passed me, "I hear they're lovely to take care of."
"They're big and scary," I pouted, scrunching my face, "Getting them mad is dangerous and we have to help birth calves."
"You watch too much Animal Planet," He chortled, "By the way, we're caught up with them. Good job!"
I looked over and we were in line with Mathis and Lucy. Parker had tricked me into focusing on something that wasn't the height, so I didn't even notice we had been moving during this whole conversation. Of course, telling me this only made my trembling spike up as I looked down and latched onto him, "Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope! Mm-mm, nope! I hate this, I hate you, I hate everything. I will not die up here with you!"

He held onto me super tight, forcing my squirming to stop as he laughed, "Don't do that, or we are going to fall, You Dope! Breathe, we are almost there. It's just a few more steps, alright?"
"Yes, but your shoe's untied," I cried, pointing at his shoelaces, "Do you know the likeliness of us falling from tripping on loose shoestrings? Sixty-seven percent of one-thousand children injured from loss of footing were due to untied shoelaces!"
"Of course, it is. Breathe, it doesn't matter---," He looked down at his shoe, sighing, "Besides, we aren't children. Well, I guess you're pretty close to one since you're about the same size as one and act like one."
"It does when you go tumbling," I hollered out, "I'm not that fucking short, Asshole!! I'm five foot and four inches! You're only three inches taller! Your shoelace is untied, we're doomed!"
He covered my mouth with his hands, moving as he started laughing so hard his eyes were watery, "Ignore it! We are fine--"
"We win!!" Mathis and Lucy chanted in victory, dancing and flipping us off, "Hurry up, Losers!"
"Fuck this," Parker leaned his head back, releasing a sigh as he wiggled his jaw. My mouth gaped as he hopped off the plank and down into the pool of jelly, his laughter starting up again as he yelled up at me, "We lost, no point in finishing the damn thing."
Mathis climbed to the end of the plank I was on and waved over to me, making her way over to me as she chimed, "I'll save you. Just stay there."
Once she reached me, I was grateful only for her to push me into the jelly and laugh in victory at my high scream, "Matty!!"
"I am invincible!" She jumped in as I started climbing out, my hands were trembling. Every part of my body was tense and aching. I was glad everyone was having fun, but I really didn't like this bet. I wished we had done something else, but I didn't want to ruin the fun. I know they would understand and not care if we hadn't done this, but I didn't want to feel like a party pooper or a burden.
I really hate heights.
"Glad I stayed out of this bet," Jax tossed me a towel, leading all three of us to some showers as he playfully rolled his eyes. He helped me out of my clothes and turned on the shower before heading out, "I will leave some clothes on my bed. Mr. Lin--- err --- Ryker will be in to help you clean up and if funk happens, I don't care."
I flushed as he winked with a shut of the door, the steam beginning to fog up the glass door I was behind as I hugged myself. I watched as the jelly washed from my body, melting into the drain from the heat, my attention coming back to reality when a knock at the door occurred, "C-Come in."
"Would you like some help?" Mr. Lincoln stepped into the restroom, glancing at me as he set some towels down. I nodded, turning pomegranate as he unbuttoned his button-up after untying his tie, slipping both off and setting them on the counter before doing the same with the rest of his clothing. A smirk played at his lips when he saw me staring, flashing his fangs at me and chuckling at my tremble, entering the shower and lifting my chin to him with his index finger, "I adore watching you tremble every time I show them off."

He planted little kisses on my lips and cheeks, trailing down to my neck and teasing my skin. My knees almost caved, my flesh trembling again as I exposed my throat to him, a silent plea for his contact.
"Pathetic little Pet. Wanting to be bit so bad, yes?" I was met with a chuckle tickling my skin, sending shivers down my spine as he teased. I whimpered at the tone in his voice, his lips pulling from my neck as he fully exposed his fangs at me with a grin, "Work for it."
"Pl-Please, it-it's been weeks," I whined, bouncing up and down, falling over the invisible cliff that tumbled me down the abyss of neediness, "I miss it. I want to have fun, pleaseeeeee?"
"You know I can't have fun without Mr. Hayes around, Pet, and he's not here today. He's working," I stuck out my lip in protest, looking up at him as his grin grew. His pupils dilated as he sized me up, the hidden look of lust fighting his composure, my nails dragging along his abs. I watched his pupils return to normal as he caressed my bottom lip with his thumb before his lips played with mine, "How about this? I'll allow playtime this once without him, but only if he gets to do the same with you later. Of course, this means we can be as rough as we please. Deal?"
My heart skipped a beat at the thought, skipping harder as he kissed my temple. My head nodded vigorously, accepting such a deal as I squealed, "Yes. Deal. I'm alright with that, yes."
He chuckled at my pathetic excuse of desire and lack of control over it, lifting me around his waist and wrapping my legs around his hips, "I'll be gentle today."

Lunar's POV
Laughing, Mathis and I wrestled on the grass, lazily pinning one another to the ground at the park. Mr. Hayes and Mr. Lincoln agreed to bring us here before the night would end, giving us a few hours to tire ourselves out and relax. Matty panted at the lazy efforts of her lunges at me, "We probably really shouldn't be rough-housing until your cast is off."
"Might as well break it while it's already broken so I don't just get it back on," I joked, throwing pebbles at her, "It'll be Sophomore Year all over again!"
She tackled me, putting me in a headlock, "We are not doing that again! You had a cast on your foot all damn year! Say uncle!"
"It was hilarious, though," I laughed harder, trying to get out of her hold before finally tapping out when we fell onto the ground and she used her body to weigh me down, "Uncle, Uncle!"
"That was not funny! You had one day without that damn cast, and everyone thought you'd get amputated most of the time!" Releasing her hold, she plopped down next to me, panting, and laughing. She punched me hard in the shoulder when I argued, laying back against the grass and looking up at the clouds, "Sometimes I want to kill you."
"Feeling is mutual," I laid back, pointing at one of them as we grew into a cuddling position, "Dandelion."
"I was going to say Anus," She snorted, shaking her head as she teased, "You are so vanilla and innocent."
"Vanilla smells nice so I'll consider that a compliment," She curled into a pit of laughter before we both went back to sitting up as my watch went off. I looked at it, concerned and confused with the alarm, "I have an alarm at this time? What for?"
"What time does it say?" She looked and then started giggling, "You still have 8:40 PM on your watch? Lady Elysium, we haven't done that since we graduated."
"Double the weed, double the high... We don't even smoke pot," I facepalmed, realizing our inside joke. I stood up, grabbed her hand, and helped her up, brushing off my clothes, "Alright, time to turn in for the night."
"Oooh," She teased, poking me repeatedly like a gossip girl, "You're taking me home early, that means you're going to their place to get laid!"
"That is none of your business, but yes," I wrinkled my nose at her, sticking my tongue out as we headed out of the park. She took her sweet time getting to the Cadillac to say goodbye, earning a cocky little grin from Mr. Hayes as I covered my face, Mr. Lincoln chuckling at her taunting behavior. Mat dodged my reach, dancing in the victory of getting more time out of this as I huffed, "Mathis, we need to leave the park! I swear to Elysium I will push you into the dirty pond water!"
"Catch me if you can, Copper!" She grinned, running around the Cadillac. Mr. Hayes watched, admiring her antics and silliness, adoring her behavior and movements.
We probably looked like children right now running around the car like a game of tag was going on, "Praying Mantis, I will tell Kyle to get down here and leave him to deal with you!"
"Is that a threat or a good time?" She mocked before pushing me into the Cadillac as she panted, "I just wanted to get you tired, less brattiness for them to deal with."
My cheeks lit on fire as Mr. Lincoln and Mr. Hayes snorted, Mr. Lincoln catching me as I fell into the car, "I-I-I am not bratty!"
"You are with me, so I believe otherwise," She stuck her tongue out at me before saluting and bowing, "Now, go have fun! Kyle and I are going to be at the ice cream parlor tonight anyway!"
I hid against Mr. Lincoln, pouting as she ran into the ice cream shop, Mr. Hayes pulled away from their parking spot as I pouted, "I-I'm not a brat...A-Am I?"
Chuckling, Mr. Lincoln kissed my temple, pulling the seat belt over us as he reassured, "You can be occasionally but never when you're being a Pet."

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
