"Snap out of it!" Yelled Yatsuhashi as he tried to fend off all three of his teammates at once.

They weren't using their weapons but were clawing and trying to bite Yatsuhashi.

"Damn you." He yelled as Velvet tried to bite his leg. He kicked her away before seeing the remaining members of Team WOLF.

"I could use some help." He pushed Fox away using the flat side of his mighty sword.

Coco jumped on Yatsuhashi's back and tried clawing his eyes out, he grabbed her and threw her off, trying not to injure his former teammate

The trio rushed over to help their friend, Y/n engaged Fox who kept trying to bite the hand that was holding the sword, the infection had rendered them savages.

"Don't hurt them," Yatsuhashi said while prying velvets teeth off his thick gauntlets.

"That's a bit difficult when they keep trying to kill us." Y/n yelled at Yatsuhashi as he tried to fend off Fox's attacks.

"I think they're just trying to infect us." Said Blake as she and Ruby fought off Coco.

Fox dodged under one of Y/n's blocks and tried clawing at the team leaders leg, Y/n pistol-whipped Fox which sent him crumbling to the ground, unconscious.

Yatsuhashi saw what Y/n had done and tried to duplicate it by using the hilt of his sword to hit Velvet in the head, the attack didn't work and Velvet only seemed madder. Yatsuhashi was forced to fight off his best friend without physically injuring her, the task was extremely difficult.

Ruby and Blake were being pummeled by Coco's relentless attacks as she used her teeth and newly grown Grimm claws to swipe and tear at any piece of flesh she could see.

"You're better than this Coco," Ruby yelled at her former friend as she saw a savage gleam in her eye, she was prepared to kill.

"Less talking, more fighting," Blake yelled at Ruby who was still trying to reason with the infected.

"But she's our friend, we have to help her."

"We will, but we have to be alive to do that, which means incapacitating Coco."

Ruby nodded and put on a stern look but she was internally struggling at the thought of having to fight her friend.

Y/n looked across from his recently won fight and saw the conflict in Ruby's eyes, this would end now.

He teleported behind Coco and hit her with the pommel of his sword, knocking her out.

He looked over to Yatsuhashi who was on the ground, grappling with Velvet who was ferociously trying to bite any part of Yatsuhashi she could see.

Y/n teleported behind Velvet and dragged her off of Yatsuhashi, the Faunus turned on Y/n and began tearing at his arms and legs, trying to scratch anything.

The Faunus' hand was millimetres away from scraping Y/n's neck when Ruby used her scythe to pry Velvet off and Blake walked behind her and whacked her in the head.

"Thanks for the save Ruby."

"No problem Y/n."

Y/n looked up to give Ruby a reassuring smile but he noticed she was madly blushing.

Is that a sign or-

"Hey guys, thanks for the help, you know why everyone has turned mad?"

Y/n was knocked out his train of thought by Yatsuhashi's comment, he would have to ponder Ruby's reaction tomorrow. If he lived that long.

"Grimm infection, it spreads through worms, do you know if anyone else hasn't been infected?"

"I think it's just us. What are we meant to do now?"

"You get straight A's in chemistry right?"

"Yeah..."

"Then I have a job for you."

Y/n explained to Yatsuhashi the complex instructions that had been left in the book, Yatsuhashi nodded along as he understood most of the process.

"This will take a few minutes. Keep an eye out for the infected."

Blake patrolled the elevator and stair entrances while Y/n and Ruby walked across the floor and looked inside all the classrooms.

"Soo... what happens after all this?"

"You mean if we win?"

"Yup."

Y/n took a second to think about Ruby's question, if Yatsuhashi did make a cure and they were able to spread it to everyone, what would happen?

"I honestly don't know."

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to go to the movies with me?"

"I think we should focus on guarding Yatsuhashi."

Y/n walked ahead of Ruby and started mentally slapping himself, he was bad at picking up signs but Ruby's offer had clearly been a date. Y/n busied himself checking all the classrooms to try and avoid thinking about the colossal mistake he had just made, what if Ruby thought he wasn't interested? What if she thought he was an asshole? Y/n let a long frustrated sigh and continued patrolling.

Ruby looked at Y/n longingly as he walked away, had she been to forward? Was Y/n not interested in her? Was she just not good enough?

Ruby started slowly crying in sadness as she tried to figure out what was wrong with her. Was she just hideous? Ruby rubbed her eyes clear of the tears and held her shoulders high. Yang had always told her that boys only want one thing but she couldn't say what it was without getting in trouble. Maybe Y/n was gay?

She looked ahead to see Y/n rushing from classroom to classroom, almost as if he was trying to get as far away from Ruby as possible.

A single tear rolled down her cheek, the object of her affections didn't reciprocate her feelings. She decided she would give it another go, After all, if it failed they'd all be dead soon so no big loss.

She ran up to Y/n and tapped him on the shoulder, startling him and causing him to fall over, dragging Ruby down with him. Both Y/n and Ruby blushed madly before Ruby mustered the courage to speak.

"That was a date offer you know."

Y/n smiled, he had been right.

"I kinda realised that a little too late."

"So it's a yes to the date?"

"Yes. A million times yes. Now how about we stand up an-"

Y/n found himself unable to speak as Ruby's lips met his and cut off his sentence. He momentarily raised his eyes in surprise before kissing Ruby back. They had both dreamed about this moment for longer than they could remember and now it was finally happening, Y/n's life felt complete, nothing could possibly stop him from kissing Rub-

"AAHHH!"

The scream echoed across the empty corridors and the pair quickly untangled themselves, stood up and ran over to the source of the scream, both had faces reminiscent of tomatoes in the summer on Ruby's home island of patch.

They arrived just in time to see Blake on the ground, being pulled into the elevator by the infected Yang.

"No!" Ruby yelled and ran over to try and stop her sister. The infected student just smiled at her and blew her a kiss as the elevator doors closed and the elevator rocketed to a different floor.

Ruby sank down to her knees and started crying. First Yang getting infected then kissing Y/n and now Blake being kidnapped, this was a very emotionally confusing day.

Y/n didn't say anything, he just walked over and knelt next to Ruby, holding her in his arms and making sure she felt safe and protected.

"Thanks, Y/n." Ruby wiped the tears from her eyes and stood up.

"We have to check if Yatsuhashi's okay."

The pair ran over to the science lab and heard the sound of breaking glass as Yatsuhashi flew across a table and shattered several expensive scientific instruments.

A burst of deep-voiced laughter came from the other side of the room as professor Port aimed his gun for a finishing blow. Y/n teleported in front of the infected professor and engaged him in hand to hand combat while Ruby checked on Yastsuhashi.

"I am a trained huntsman boy, how can you hope to defeat me?"

Y/n smirked and teleported to the other side of the room, grabbing a vial with a green substance in it, he teleported in front of Port and threw the concoction in his face.

"I'm not as good as Yatsuhashi, but I still remember your warning about chlorine trifluoride."

The professor was on the floor as his face was burning, the chemical was famous for use on large crowds of Faunus as it would burn skin then knock out those affected by the liquid.

The Professor looked at Y/n one last time before passing out. Y/n spit on his unconscious body. Fucking homework.

Y/n teleported over to Ruby and Yatsuhashi, asking if they were all right.

Yatsuhashi nodded and held up a glass vial with a peculiar looking liquid inside.

"The cure."
