Klaus stood in front of a soldier with his new sword safely on his hand, Ares looked at their fight with her arms crossed in front of her chest, her annoyance was visible to anyone, even the wolves seemed to be smirking at the ridiculous fight.

The goddess of war had blocked his vampire powers for his training and it was safe to say that Niklaus didn't touch a sword in the last millennia. This was the problem of supernatural beings, they depended on their enhanced powers and didn't truly know how to use them, it was a waste of power.

"Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected" Ares commanded, receiving a glare from the hybrid, making a smirk raise on her face.

"I'm trying, but it's quite difficult to do it when you have the strength and speed of a human after a thousand years being the original vampire" Klaus hissed, narrowly missing the sword coming to his neck, but a deep cut appeared on his arm.

The warrior immediately turned around, kicking Klaus chest and cutting his other arm. The wolves that were laying down around the goddess gave a sound similar to a laughter, making Ares sigh before she jumped in the ring.

"That's enough, Jasper, good fight" The ginger told the warrior, messing his hair with a smirk on her face while his cheeks turned red. A possessive growl could be heard and Klaus immediately charged against the warrior, making him stumble back from the unexpected attack.

Niklaus quickly turned around and cut the back of the man's knees, making him drop to the ground, before the sword split his throat open, leaving a lifeless body on the ground as the entire room became quiet.

"Anger makes you stronger, but stupid and stupid gets you killed, don't try that again" Ares scolded and wrapped a cloak around her eyes, before she made a wooden sword appear on her hand.

"What are you doing?" The hybrid asked in confusion, his eyes widening when the goddess quickly appeared in front of him with her sword raised.

Klaus blocked the attack, jumping back as Ares kept blowing attacks at him, each time faster than the previous one.

"My power rises in battle, the longer you fight, the lesser your chance to win against me, I'll only get stronger" Her voice was cold, calculating, very different from the calm one she always used with him.

Ares saw how he was hesitant to fight back, so her eyes flashed red and he started to see Mikael in front of him instead of her, making a smirk appear on her face.

"C'mon, boy"

Niklaus roared angrily and slashed down at Ares' head. The goddess countered by raising her sword high and striking horizontally. Her blow offset Niklaus', and the tip of her sword sliced cleanly across Klaus's face, but the wooden material didn't cut it.

After sometime, Niklaus had stopped fighting impulsively, his eyes were as cold and calculating as a true soldier. Each swing of the sword was blocked, each step countered. No blade ever made contact with flesh, the illusion fell, but Niklaus kept going, his attacks weren't as explosive, they seemed to be dancing, perfectly synchronized.

They thrilled around, too concentrated to feel dizzy, a real smile showing on Ares' face as they kept for hours like that, doing what she loved the most.

The moon started to rise and they finally stopped, the hybrid smirked at the goddess when she unwrapped the material around her eyes, proudly showing her glowing red irises, as they entered the main house.

"Hey love... you never told me why your eyes turn red" Nik commented, his bright blue eyes shining with curiosity as they looked intensely at her glowing orbs, making Ares raise her eyebrows at him.

"It's my natural eye color, when we use human forms they adapt to normal ones so we don't stand out too much, when I get... excited, they turn red on their own" Ares explained calmly, changing them back to the emerald color.

"Don't, I prefer them red" the blonde lightly commanded, making the goddess smirk at him, her eyes turning back to the red tone, but this time they didn't glow.

"Dite's eyes are white, right? What about the other gods?" Klaus continued, lacing their fingers together when they entered their room before he pulled her to sit on his lap.

Ares hesitated for a moment, sighing softly as she started to tell him the truth "Every god or goddess has white eyes, I'm the only one with blood red ones"

Klaus' eyes widened at this, but he chose to stay silent when he saw her lost in her mind "I was born with white eyes too, but they changed one night"

The goddess pursed her lips together, a soft frown painting her face as she remembered that night.

"Long ago I had a daughter called Alcippe, she summoned me after Halirrhothius attempted to rape her... I was infuriated, I've always been hated by the gods, but no children of War was ever looked down by me, I treated each one like a real mother and not like a goddess or general" Ares explained, her bloodlust making the room colder.

"I didn't care that the boy was son of Poseidon, I slew him. I tortured him till his blood covered the whole place. I had to make sure that no one else would touch my children again, I had to pass the message, so I decapitated him and stacked his head on a pole in the center of the Olympus while the rest of his body was fed to my wolves"

Klaus listened carefully, no expression showed on his face, but the soft touch of his calloused hands on her waist were enough comfort to the woman as she leaned on his touch.

"Poseidon demanded that I had to be put on trial for the murder of his son and Zeus agreed, I was only freed after Aphrodite enchanted Zeus to accept that I was protecting the honor of my daughter and should be acquitted" Niklaus looked at her in disbelief and this time he interrupted her.

"Aphrodite needed to enchant him?"

Ares laughed coldly at this, her eyes meeting his for the first time since she started to tell him her story, and answered "Zeus wouldn't interfere at this, he hated me and he once tried to rape Persephone too, in his eyes it wouldn't be a reason for a son of Poseidon to be killed"

"After I left the trial, I was feeling humiliated, I was the first and only god or goddess to be put on an open trial like this, I couldn't control my wrath and accidentally destroyed an entire kingdom, innocent or not, no one survived, that day my eyes became as red as the blood that painted the kingdom"

Niklaus didn't say anything after this, he didn't need to, his arms immediately wrapped around her smaller frame and he placed a kiss on her forehead, this was enough for the goddess to relax her tense posture, knowing that he didn't judge her for this.
