《Manan - Entangled》Part 16

Manik couldn't back out from what he had committed, but at the same time he was reluctant to go ahead with their plan after knowing Nandini's state.
Manik was with his friends.
Cabir : "Did you get your doubt clarified?"
Manik : "Yes .. that isn't the reason."
Alya : "Then there are no issues in continuing with our plan."
Manik : "Nandini doesn't want to fall in love either, so I think this plan isn't going to work. We should shelve this plan."
Alya didn't want Manik to be the one to execute the plan in the first place, but Manik hated Nandini back then, so she didn't consider it as an issue. Now, she had begun to feel that Manik was showing concern for Nandini and she didn't like it one bit, but at the same time she didn't want the plan to be shelved.
Alya : "You should focus on what Mukti wants and not what that girl wants or doesn't want. Mukti is your cousin and that girl is no one to you. You know what she did to Mukti and you have seen Mukti suffering as a result of it. You should be vengeful, not considerate towards that girl. You should think about Mukti's well being and continue with the plan, and not take that girl's side and shelve the plan."
Manik : "I am not taking Nandini's side. Whatever I have been doing is only for Mukti. I wasn't for this plan from the beginning, and I don't feel good about this plan even now."
Manik : "Also, she isn't like that girl who fell in love within a few days or like Mukti who fell in love at first sight. She has an idea that it can be used as a means to trap someone to fulfill their own motives. After knowing that, do you really expect her to walk in to our trap?"
Manik : "Mukti, if you would have also thought like her, neither would you have been in this situation today nor would I have to put such an act."
Manik was frustrated with the situation he was stuck in and said those words, but Mukti took that completely in a wrong way because Manik considered falling in love as a mistake.
Mukti : "You feel that I was wrong and she is right. If that's what you feel, then you can back off. I will continue to suffer like this because it was my mistake. You can let her off the hook and let her go scot free. .. You always say that I am not just your cousin, but your sister. So, I assumed that you can do anything for me, but I was wrong."

Manik : "I didn't mean that, you are taking it all wrong. I can do anything for you. If necessary, I can even give up my life for you."
Alya : "Mukti, that girl is trying to brainwash him and distract him. We will have to remind him to stay focused. Then everything will be fine."
Cabir : "Manik, don't think that trapping her isn't possible. Nothing is impossible for you. You always say that no one can win over you unless you let them on your own. That applies here too."
Once again Manik's friends managed to convince him to continue with the plan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was another day at the orphanage. Manik was returning from the restroom when a girl saw him and asked for help.
Girl : "Can you please help me open the door? My friend has locked the door from inside and isn't opening it. She was upset and I am scared that she might end up doing something terribly wrong."
Manik managed to open the door and found that the girl's friend was trying to commit suicide by hanging herself. They managed to stop her just in time.
Manik : "Do you want me to go and get someone?"
The girl felt that calling someone at the orphanage would cause more issues for her friend.
Girl : "Please don't tell about this incident to any of the staff. I think I know a volunteer who can help me, but I don't know her name."
Manik : "I can stay here till you go and get her."
That girl left and got Nandini with her. She explained what had happened to Nandini on her way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Nandini reached there, she heard Manik talking to the girl.
Girl's friend : "Why did you save me? You should have let me die."
Manik : "I don't know what your problem is, but every problem has a solution, and committing suicide definitely isn't the solution."
Nandini went and sat next to that girl.
Nandini : "Why did you take such a drastic step?"
Girl's friend : "I followed your advice and he agreed, so I thought he really loved me. But then I overheard him talking to his friend that he was only pretending so that I give in on my own. He was planning to use me and then dump me."
On one of the days when Nandini had come to the orphanage without other volunteers, she had overheard the girl and her friend talking. The girl who tried to commit suicide was blushing and telling her friend that she and her boyfriend were planning to do it. Nandini had advised her that she was very young and she shouldn't go ahead with it. It could land her in a complicated situation in the future. She also told her that if the boy really loved her, then he would be willing to wait till later and he would not force her.

Nandini : "Things would have been more worse if you wouldn't have stopped yourself in time. But now that isn't the case, still you tried to kill yourself."
Girl's friend : "I did a big mistake by falling in love with him and trusting him. He didn't love me, but I did. How am I going to live after failing in love?"
Nandini : "It isn't your mistake, so don't try to punish yourself for it. You have been living without your parents' love all these years. Won't you be able to live without his love? You want to lose your life over someone you knew for a short while, that too after knowing that he isn't worth it."
Nandini : "Didn't you think about your friend who has been with you all these years? Look at her condition. She is so concerned and worried for you. Not everyone is lucky to get such a friend, and you wanted to leave her alone and go."
Nandini : "You have your whole life ahead of you. You might have had dreams which you wanted to fulfill before you met him. You should try to move on from this incident and focus on your dreams. It will take time, but you aren't alone, you have your friend's support too."
The girl's state reminded Manik of Mukti's state when she was in a similar situation, but she hadn't tried to commit suicide like this girl. Manik left from there and went outside.
Nandini stayed with the girls for sometime. Nandini's advice had saved the girl earlier, so she agreed to follow her advice. Nandini left asking her friend to not leave her side for the next few days.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Manik was very disturbed after this incident. He felt disgusted with Mukti's ex and this girl's ex for bringing them to such a state. It also brought the realization that if he succeeds in their plan, he would be no different than their ex's though his motive was different. He had seen Mukti depressed after she came to know that she was cheated, but he hadn't thought that one would go to the extent of committing suicide like this girl. Then he thought of Nandini in their place, that's when Nandini came to him.
Manik : "How is she now?"
Nandini : "She is a little better than before. She has promised her friend that she won't repeat it, so I am hoping that she will be okay."
Manik : "You handled the situation and advised her well."
Nandini : "I didn't know how to go about it. I only modified what I heard from others to suit her situation. .. It is easier to advice, but difficult to follow."
Nandini stopped after realizing that she had started thinking of her own situation.
Nandini : "Are you alright?"
Manik was still disturbed and blurted out what was going on his mind.
Manik : "I was just wondering, what if I end up doing something similar to that guy and hurt .. someone?"
Manik realized what he was saying and changed it from you to someone.
Nandini : "Why? .. Why do you want to think about something that you wouldn't do?"
Manik : "You know me only from a past few weeks. Then how can you say that I wouldn't do something like that?"
Nandini : "I am saying so because I know you from the past few weeks. When I met you first, I thought you were a rich spoilt brat who doesn't care about others. But whether it was back then or now, you have saved people's lives. You helped me too though you were angry at me for what I did. A savior wouldn't destroy someone's life."
Nandini had no idea that that someone, who Manik was referring to, was her and Manik had saved her from a situation that his friends had created to change her opinion about him.
