《How Not to Poach a Unicorn》Interlude One

Baron Taimon stirred. He was groggy and disoriented. The bed beneath him was soft and the blankets were warm. He was suddenly overcome with a throbbing pain in his right arm. He clutched at it with his left but found only air. He turned his head to see a mass of bandages covering the place where his right arm should be. Panicked, he tried to climb out of bed but found his legs shackled. There was movement near the door, but his eyes refused to focus.
He frantically tried to free himself and clear his foggy head but the ghost of his right arm was screaming at him for not dying along with it and his last remembered minutes swam through his head. Slowly the haze cleared and he looked around his well-furnished prison. The walls were of clean cut stone. There was a pleasant fire in the corner and a couple of sitting chairs positioned near it. The bed he was on was fit for royalty, except for the chains binding his feet to its posts.
He was forming an escape plan when the large oak door creaked open. A young man in an Ashunian lieutenant's uniform stepped in and delivered what looked like two cups of hot tea to Taimon's bedside table. He was followed shortly by what appeared to be a huge, walking stone statue with a severe-looking face and two very large metal arms that didn't match the rest of the body. The golem had to duck to fit into the room.
There was a pregnant pause as the Baron stared in confused fear at his hospitable captors before another man entered the room. He wore a well-tailored shirt, vest, and trousers, all black with silver buttons. His grey eyes and silver hair made him look older, but his face was uncreased with time. He strode in with the confidence of a thousand year-rule. He was followed by Taimon's wife, Verena, who looked pale and broken. Taimon tried to rise in anger but the overwhelming presence of the silver-haired man seemed to crush the will to fight out of him.

One of the sitting chairs strode over to meet the man, who then sat politely by Taimon's bedside, crossed one leg over the other, took a sip of tea with a malicious lack of urgency and smiled.
"I'd like to ask you a few questions..." said the Sorcerer King Ashunar darkly, "about a group of escaped prisoners."

Vendor of Spirits
A warlock once made a pact with the Powers Above. He snuck in a clause that resurrected him whenever he died, with all his memories intact. He lived for thousands of years in a hundred different bodies, changing the world into a dystopian regime where he could freely pursue his passions: alcohol, television and ducks. This made the Powers Above very angry, so they erased his memories and reincarnated him as a simple barmaid in a sleepy village where she could do no harm. I don’t know any of this, of course. I just find it very annoying that she’s chosen me to tag along with.

Rise of the Business [Class]
'Rise of the Business [Class]' is a story about a world where humanity ended up fleeing through space, after suffering several great disasters at home. On arrival we crash-landed and were soon attacked by magic wielding civilizations who learned how to deal with our weaponry with a speed that belied their seemingly simplistic nature. We were lost. But eventually we survived by abandoning technology and adapting. But this tale takes place thousands of years later, after humanity has had time to rise and falter more than once. It tells of a time where we adapted too much, focusing only on combat and magic and learning to rely on the [System] that our ancestors built in order to compete and survive on this hostile planet with the others. This is a story about our final chance during a time when all of humanity is under siege again, where we struggled to adapt too late and ultimately had to learn how to summon a collection of people from Earth through time and space to come help - but not to the 'besieged time' but back a couple of hundred years - before it went too far down the wrong path, so they can hopefully change things enough to prevent a return to that timeline. Follow Livia as she is ripped from her favorite library and end up getting lucky, or unlucky? On her very first day on the Elderwood continent. While a trio of native lads excitedly leave home to find adventure, oblivious to how very soon they might end up entangled in the fate of the world. But the question that remains to be answered, that this first leg of the journey aims to find out; is what can a LitRPG bookworm like Livia do if called on to change humanity and prepare us all for the future, all before her 21st birthday? Find out soon, as we are finishing up book 1 in the coming two weeks. Cheers for reading this far, have a biscuit!

Just a little bit about ballet. This story follows my life and my meager ballet career. It's a bit random and some info about ballet from my perspective. If you would like for me to write a part about something in particular, just comment and I will. Enjoy! Thanks to @girl_who_reads for designing my cover, it's so awesome!! ~Mia
