*Dan POV*

I refused to leave her side; Evie went to meet Luke at reception allowing me to spend some time alone with Liv.

“Come on baby, open your beautiful eyes for me.” I whisper stroking her cheek, sitting on the edge of her bed.

“You will never know how sorry I am for doubting you, I never chose her over you but I just didn’t know what to believe. I was stupid for not trusting you, you are my best friend, how could I not believe you? You’ve never lied to me in all the years I’ve known you, Amy is a conniving bitch. I will do everything I can to prove myself to you; I’m never going to hurt you again. Please don’t leave me.”

I heard the door open behind me; I wiped my tears away before turning my head to see Luke stood there with Evie curled into his side.

“How she doing?” Luke asked walking in.

“No change.” I reply, not moving from her bed, holding onto her hand softly, “What happened at the house?”

“The police came and spoke to me, I filled them in on the situation and they arrested Amy for assault. I gave my statement as did Lindsay but they said they would need to speak to Evie and you, then speak to Liv when she wakes up.”

I nodded at his reply before turning back to Liv.

“Evie you need to sleep .” Luke says to Evie who was curled up on his lap

“I’m not leaving her.”

“I’ll stay and I’ll ring you if anything happens.” I reply to her.

“Dan no offense but when she wakes up, I doubt you’ll be the first person she wants to see.”

“Evie...” Luke sighed

“No, I’m sorry. But have you forgotten everything that happened tonight? He chose Amy over my sister. The bitch that lied all along about being pregnant, the bitch that broke them up and the bitch that pushed her down the stairs…who caused all this”

“I was there as well, I know what happened.” Luke replied

“Exactly and he let it happen.” Evie snapped getting off his lap.

“I’m not leaving her Evie, I know what happened but I never chose Amy over her. I never could.”

“Well that’s what happened Dan.”

“She is my everything Evie. I fought like hell to get her and I’m not letting her go.”

*beep beep beep*

My head spun around to her machine that began beeping away. I got off her bed as nurses ran in and pushed us out the room.

“Whats happening?” Evie cried into Luke

My eyes were glued on the door, waiting for someone to let us know what was going on. The doors burst open and Liv was getting pushed down the corridor.

“What’s happening?” I shout and collar one of the nurses

“She’s stable now. She just stopped breathing for a minute, we’re taking her for her CT scan now to see if anything shows up.” she smiled patting my back and walking off. I nodded before turning to Evie and she hugged me.

“I can’t lose her Dan, she’s all the family I have left.”

“I know , but she’s a fighter. She’s not going to leave you.” I reply hugging her tightly.

Since they were sixteen they’ve been on their own. Their mum, dad and baby brother were killed in a house fire. They would have had the same horrible fate but it was one of the many nights that we all snuck out past bed time and hung out in our tree and got drunk or messed about. They lived with their grandparents and moved out at eighteen moving in with me and Luke, we’ve been a family ever since.

“We’re family remember.” I smile lifting her chin to look at me and she nodded smiling, I kissed the top of her head before hugging her again. “She won’t leave us.”

We went back and sat in her room, Evie went for a walk to get a hot chocolate and a coffee for me and Luke. The affects of drinking a lot last night were kicking in.

“I think you’re going to have a lot of making up to do when she wakes up” Luke sighs looking at me and I nod

“I know, I’m so stupid for just not trusting her. I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach that told me what Liv was telling me was the truth but I didnt want to believe it. I was excited about having a kid, I was just gutted that it wasn’t with Liv.”

“It’ll happen for you’s one day but until then I think you’re going to have to try and regain her trust.”

“I’ll do anything she wants. I am not losing her.”

Evie came back with our drinks, just as Liv’s bed was pushed back in. Everything was linked back up but she was still unconscious.

“We’ll get the results back in a couple of hours.” The doctor told us, “She may wake up before, but we don’t know.”

“Thanks doc.” Luke smiles as I go over to her bed.

“We did her internal examination after her scan, the nurse will be around soon to let you know what she knows.”

“Oh okay, is everything okay?”

“It seems so, no internal bleeding which is great. It was a result of the fall which caused it, she’ll be able to fill you in more when she comes by later”

“Okay thank you” Evie says as stood near her bed.

“Hey baby, I’ve missed you.” I whisper kissing her nose, hoping I would see her wrinkle it like she usually did when I kissed her...but she didn’t.

Now we would just have to wait.

We’d been at the hospital for about six hours and she hadn’t changed one bit. But I suppose that’s better than her deteriorating.

“I’m gonna go grab us some food.” I say getting up off her bed “I’m starving.”

“What you getting?” Luke asked

“Nandos.” Evie laughed and I nodded

“I’ll be back soon.” I say to them “Be back soon Tink, love you baby girl.” I say to her kissing her forehead and leaving. I got a taxi back to ours, changing quickly before grabbing my car keys and driving to Nandos.

I ordered three meals, whilst they were cooking ran next door to Asda buying two bottles of coke and some plastic cups. I picked up our meals, sneakily getting a bottle of ketchup and putting it in my bag before filling up some plastic containers with the sauces.

I drove back to the hospital and walked into Liv’s room...no one was there. Where had they gone? I got out my phone to see Luke had text.

*Evie’s POV*

I was cuddled up on Luke’s knee, waiting for Dan to come back with some food. About ten minutes later a doctor came in.

“We’ve got her results.” He says to me

“Is everything okay?” I ask worried

“She had a slight swelling to her head but that’s subsided now, everything else looks fine. So it’s just up to her when she comes round, she took a nasty bang to her head.”

“Okay thanks doc” Luke smiles

“One more thing, we can move her to the recovery ward now, her stats have improved a lot.”

A couple of minutes later a couple of nurses moved her bed down to another ward as we followed her.

“Best let Dan know.” Luke says as we follow Liv into the room

“Yea, ward nine, room six.” I say to him sitting down on the bed, stroking her face.

“Come on , open your beautiful eyes. I need to know everything’s okay.”

“She will .” I heard Luke reply

“I know but I just have this feeling that something isn’t okay.”

“What feeling?” Luke asked me putting his phone back into his pocket

“I duno, but something doesn’t feel right. I can’t put my finger on it.”

“Twin thing?” Luke smiles and I nod “It’s so cool that you know.”

“I know I love it.” I grin looking at Liv before placing my hands on my bump.

“No twins for us then?” Luke asks standing in front of me, resting his forehead on mine.

“Nope, not this time.” I giggle

“Not this time.” He repeats before kissing me “‘I can’t wait to marry you gorgeous.”

“Me neither Luke. I love you so much.”

“I love you more , more and more every day.” He replies before kissing me

*cough cough*

“Get a room will you.” I heard Liv giggle

“Oh my god, Liv.” I cry pushing Luke off me and pulling her into a hug.

“Careful Evie, I’m sore.” She laughs

“Sh you, I’m so glad you’re okay.”

“I’m fine, I wouldn’t leave you now would I...we’re family.” She smiles and I nod, wiping the tears that had fallen.

“You scared us back then ” Luke smiled kissing her head softly.

“Sorry Luke.” She smiled before looking round the room.

“Dan’s gone to get some food; you know what he’s like.” Luke smiled and she nodded

“I don’t want to see him.” She replied bluntly

“...” I begin and she looks at me so I stop

*knock knock*

“Come in.” I shout and the doctor walks in

“Oh Miss Williams you’re awake...this is great news.” He smiles walking over to Liv’s side.

“Is everything okay?” Liv asks and the doctor nods

“We had to take you for a CT scan to check you had no damage to your brain, you had a slight swelling but that’s gone down now. We need to keep you in for a day or two to keep an eye on you as it was a nasty fall and you were unconscious for a while but other than that you seem fine.”

“Oh good, thank you.” I smile

“So no long term damage then?” Liv asks

“No, you were lucky....” he began before pausing “...but the nurse needs to have a quick word with you though. Shall I send her in?”

“Sure.” Liv smiled before the doctor turned and left the room, a couple of seconds later a nurse walks in.

“I’m glad you’re awake, we have your blood results and the results from your internal examination. Can I have a private word please?”

“Evie stay with me?” Liv whispered looking scared.

“Sure .” I reply clutching at her hand.

“I’ll just be outside girls.” Luke smiled walking out the doors.

“Is everything okay?” Liv asks sitting up in her bed

“We took your bloods to do a few tests on you...and they’ve confirmd what I thought during your internal examination.”

“What are you saying?” Liv says grabbing my hand.

“I don’t really know how to say this...I’m sorry but you lost your baby in the fall.’

“Oh my god.” I whisper looking at Liv who looked completely shocked, whilst tears fell down her cheeks.
