《My Rejected Mate》16

-Cassie's POV
The warriors were checking everything over before this stupid war. I was forced to do the planning since I know the area the best. All of this is just giving me a big headache and I really just want to take a nice long nap. I'm worried about many things like the safety of Rose and my mom. My family and even Elliot. Hell I barely could even have peaceful moments with Elliot, it was one event after another. It's been almost a week since I arrived here and I hate it.
What kind of karma do I have.
Once everything was checked over, we started to the move towards Elliot's pack. It would take about a day to get there if we don't rest however we could get there earlier. I glanced to the side to see my mom and Rose in a cage, it made me sick to my stomach truthfully. Ever so often the three of us would communicate via mind link is it won't look suspicious. We had to keep our faces very neutral so no one could suspect us.
"Cassie come here." Nolan asked. I held back the eye roll that was so close to happen and I went by Nolan's side. His hand landed on the back of my neck and he squeezed hard and looked directly into my eyes.
"No funny business alright, if I see you attempt to even aid O'Connors or your pack I won't hesitate to kill those two. Understand?" He threatened.
"How could I ever betray you Nolan." I smiled at him cynically.
He let go of my neck roughly and I sighed out. I can't wait to kill him, I don't want my dad or Elliot to get their hands on him. I want to rip him to shreds myself. You don't understand how bad I'm holding myself back right now. There were numerous times where Addie was close to taking control of me.
Piece of shit.
I went back to where my mom was at and walked besides the cage. I felt her hold my hand and she gave me a sympathetic look. I gave her a small smile and retracted my hand from her since I felt a pair of sneaky eyes staring at me intensely. I looked behind me and saw a little boy, he looked timid. When we made eye contact he quickly look down at the ground.
I purposely slowed down my pace so me and him can walk side by side. This time it was me who was staring down at him. He glanced up with puppy looking eyes. I quirked an eyebrow at him and tried to make myself seem more friendly.
"What's a kid like you doing here?" I asked him. His eyes widened and I saw his little fist clenched to his side.
"My brother forced me to come." He muttered.
"Your brother is making a little kid like you fight?" I questioned. What kind of idiotic brother would do that.
"Alpha Nolan is my brother." If you could only see the face I just made when he told me that. What's even worse he's calling his brother alpha. What kind of power hungry man is this to make his own family call him alpha.
"I see...where's your parents?" I continue to ask him questions out pure curiosity.
"He killed them." His eyes started to tear up and I started to panic. I glanced up at my mom so she can help and mouthed something I couldn't understand.

"U-Uh what's your name?!" I asked him quickly.
"My name is David." His voiced cracked but the tears were slowly disappearing.
"I'm Cassie." I smiled at him and he shrugged his shoulders.
"Yeah I know, everyone knows your name is Cassie." God kids are so honest, like give me some slack at least. My hand landed on top of his head and I ruffled his hair. There was just this little glimmer in his eyes that made felt guilty. Knowing if he fought he would definitely get killed.
"Have you shifted yet?"
"No. Not yet." He spoke. Even worse, he can't even defend himself inches wolf form. I sighed out and scratched the back of my neck awkwardly.
"Well, I'll protect you when the battle happens ok. I promise nothing will happen to you." I held out my pinky finger to him. As if hope filled those innocent eyes of him, his little pinky latched onto mines and a smile erupt on his face.
Another motivation to end this battle.
****
It was the next day, it was bright and sunny a bid contrast to today mood. The tense atmosphere just screams death. Every step I took towards the Northern Border my nose was filled with that nice sweet scent. It calmed me down a bit but I was still on high alert. I finally get to see Elliot's face after some days.
I was walking side by side with Nolan. His aura was just radiating bloodthirsty. He was excited for this battle, I'm telling you he's one sick fuck. There were more pack warrior surrounding where my mom and Rose were. I'm assuming if they detect any slight of me betraying them they will kill them.
Eventually we did meet with Elliot and my families pack warriors. Both sides were on equal foots with their army. This was going to be a bloody fight for sure. Everyone stopped moving and we just staring at each other. I made eye contact with Elliot, he had a very deadly look towards me. Oh man I am in so much trouble for sure right now. Once this is over he's going to give me the talk of the century. Not only him though, my family were giving the most deadliest stares themself.
I'm so grounded for years.
"Let's talk." Elliot said. I nodded my head and started walking, but Nolan grabbed my shoulder.
"I'll go with." Nolan said. I nodded my head slowly and faced Elliot once again.
The way towards each other felt like forever, it felt like time was definitely moving slower than usual. When we were face to face Elliot completely ignore Nolan and was just staring at me. I stared back of course and I can tell his wolf was on the verge of taking control.
"Cassie come here to this side now." Elliot spoke calmly.
"I can't, unless you want my mom and Rose to die." I said. Just hearing the word die connected to the two of them my dad and Toby growled menacingly.
"You know that means that you're betraying your pack." Elliot gave me a serious look.
"I know but I don't have a choice." I quickly took out my knife and held it against Elliot's neck. I felt something cold against my neck. He was quick with it too holding a knife of his own to my neck. We were both holding each other's wrist stopping the knife from killing us. Everyone was on edge now, but no one dared to move.

"Don't move Nolan they got arrows pointing at you." I said as I glanced behind me. Nolan nodded his head and stayed in his spot.
"You better back down Cassie, I don't want to hurt you. But if it means protecting my pack then I won't back down." Elliot face was close to mines and I nodded my head.
"That's good because I wasn't going to hold back at all either." I smiled at him.
"Shall we get started?" Elliot asked.
"Of course." I pushed Elliot's hand away, and the knife barely grazed my neck. I twisted my body and threw my knife at Nolan. He was taken back and tried to dodge it however he was too late. The knife punctured his shoulder and he growled at me. I gave him a nice wide smile, he really thought I would betray my own pack?
"Cassie I will kill those two." Nolan threatened.
"I don't think you can, I think you forgot my mom is very special." I pointed out. Sure enough my mom put a barrier around her and no one could penetrate it. My mom winked at me and I shook my head.
Nolan eyes widened and he threw his hand up in the air signaling to attack. His pack warriors started to run towards us. Elliot ordered his warriors to engage too. Nolan took out the knife out of his shoulder and threw the knife back at me. I caught it by blade and repositioned it in my hand. Elliot stood in front of me ready to protect me.
"I swear Cassie you come up with the most craziest plans ever!" Elliot grunted as he fought back Nolan.
"I know! I know, it won't happen again! " I apologized as I took down one of the enemies.
After discussing the plan with the war, I sent a letter back to Elliot. There were two of them: one Nolan checked the fake letter to see what I had written. The second letter I gave it to someone I can trust. I made one messenger follow me in secret. When it was dead in the night I can give it to them. That letter explained what I talked with Nolan so the packs can plan accordingly. I'm not saying I'm a genius but yes I am. Nolan was a stupid fool to think I would even attempt to team up with him
I was about to join in fighting Nolan with Elliot but I stopped because my attention was on someone else. I made a promise and I can't break it, especially since he's just a little kid.
"Go I'll handle him." Elliot reassured me. I nodded my head and started running.
Everyone started to shift others stayed in their human form. I was surrounded by two wolves and they weren't back down. Addie halfway took over me to aid me in more strength. I charged up my arm and electrocuted to the two wolves with high voltage. Their body went limp and I continue to run towards the little boy.
When one of the wolves of his own pack tried to attack him, I jumped mid air to tackle the down. I took out my knife and stabbed the wolf in the chest. I quickly got up and went up to David, I grabbed his shoulders and inspected if he got hurt.
"Are you ok?!" I asked him. Tears started to run down his face and he grabbed onto my hand
"I tried fighting b-but!" He cried out.
"Little kids shouldn't fight grown ups problems. Hang on."I picked him up and started to run. I mind link some of my pack warriors to aid so I can get David to a safer place. Which evidently was my mom since she had the barrier up. I reached her and handed David to her.
"Take care of him, I'll be back when everything is over ok." I ordered.
"I'm joining in the fight." Rose said.
"I think it's best you stay here, if Toby hears your fighting he might just go crazy." I stopped her. I know she wants to fight but knowing Toby if there's one scratch on her, there will be more deaths than necessary. Rose nodded her head reluctantly and stayed within the barrier.
There was a lot of enemies, very draining to say the least. However I had so much pent up anger I was being merciless. Any enemy that dared to get in front of me, I killed them. I met up with Elliot and I was searching for Nolan. Look like he ran away. I guess he realized this was a losing war so he decided to flee. But his scent was still on the battlefield, so he's somewhere blinding in with everyone.
"You know after this battle, we're going to have a long talk." Elliot said as he killed on the wolves.
"Yeah yeah I know. And no matter how much I apologize y'all will be on my ass." I grunted and punched one of them.
"Of course we would! It was reckless!" He yelled.
"I acknowledge that! But look we're winning!" I yelled back. Me and him took down the same person at the same time. Elliot rolled his eyes and I did the same.
Elliot eyes widened all of a sudden and he pushed me to the side roughly. I stumbled a bit but caught myself quickly. Nolan came out of nowhere and started to attack Elliot with every attack he can muster up. I saw something shiny in Nolan's hand, as Elliot was distracted he tried to sneakily catch him off guard. I ran up quickly and put myself in between the two of them. I can feel the object pierce my back and I felt a cold liquid enter my body. Immediately there was burning sensation and I felt my body becoming numb quickly. I growled and Elliot restrained Nolan. My hand went to his head and I snapped his neck swiftly. His body went limp and Elliot let him go.
My hands were shaking and soon enough my legs gave out. I was sprawled out on the ground and I it hurt to my move. It was getting hard to breath, and I felt like I was on fire. I looked at my hands to see my veins going black. I already know what this is, it's wolfsbane. He hid that without me knowing, oh how I wish he can come back from the dead so I can kill him again but even more ruthlessly. I was pulled into an embrace, warm hands grabbed my face. I was staring back into brown eyes that look like they were on the verge of losing it.
"Stop the fight it's over, your alpha is dead!" Elliot ordered in his alpha tone. Everyone stopped moving in that moment. Nolan's pack members saw his dead body and it looked like their world ended. Knowing that continue on fighting is a lost cause, all their fighting spirit left their bodies. Elliot's and my pack warriors started to quickly detain all of Nolan's people.
"Cassie, why did you do that!" Elliot cried out.
"Well you were in danger, why else?" I spoke but I sounded so weak.
"You should've let him stab me, now y-you-"
"I'll be fine, after all you said we need to have a big talk right." I laughed out weakly.
"It's ok we can stop this, let's got to the pack doctor." His voice was full of panic as he picked me up from my ground.
He started running towards the packs hospital without stopping. No one dared to stop him. I just saw the trees passing me slowly, everything felt slow in fact. I don't even feel like I'm in my own body right now.
I can't even feel anything now, I feel no pain at all. I was slipping in and out of consciousness. One moment I was outside and the next I staring up at a white ceiling. Elliot's face appeared in my vision and he was saying something but I couldn't hear. I wanted to talk, my mouth refused to move or make any sound.
All I wanted to do was to apologize to Elliot.
