《Adeena Cole and the Curse of the Black Pearl》Chapter Thirteen

**************************
I glanced around nervously as Jack rowed us through the tunnels, a self-satisfied smirk on his face.
"I never want to go near them again," I said, referring to the cursed crew.
Jack shook his head and frowned. "I know, love, but it's to save Will."
I nodded, but wasn't too reassured.
Jack parked the little boat where he had last time, and gave me a hand out. His hands were calloused but warm.
Jack and I hurried through the caverns, me cursing every time I tripped. He whipped around a corner and I rushed after him.
We pushed through the crowd of jeering pirates, mumbling excuse me and pardon me to anyone We shoved to the side, but honestly, I wanted to tackle them and beat them black and blue. The chanting decreased as Jack and I disrupted their party.
"'Scuse me!" Jack called, as we pushed to the front. Barboussa was standing up by the chest again, looking gallant.
"Begun by blood!" He bellowed. "By blood..." He cut himself off, catching sight of me and Jack. "It's not possible!" He breathed.
Jack lifted a finger. "Not probable!" He corrected.
"Jack!" Will exclaimed, straightening up, looking bewildered. "Adeena! Where's Elizabeth?"
Jack flailed his arms about as he answered. "She's safe, just like I promised. She's also all set to marry Norrington, just like she promised," Will scowled. "And you get to die for it, just like you promised. So we're all men of our word, really, except Elizabeth, who is, in fact, a woman."
Barboussa narrowed his eyes. "Shut up! Yer next!"
Jack and I were seized and dragged backwards. Jack looked offended; I hissed Spanish curses at my captors as they aggravated my bruises.
"You don't want to be doing that, mate." Jack advised Barboussa slowly as he leaned over the chest of Aztec gold to slice open Will's neck. I knew of his plan, he had informed me in the dinghy.

Barboussa lifted his head. "No," He said, "I really think I do."
Jack clasped his hands together in front of him and swayed. "Your funeral."
Barboussa put the knife to Will's neck, Will looking quite upset, and sighed. Barboussa leaned back to face us. "Why don't I want to be doin' it?"
Jack grinned triumphantly. He started to move forward but was hindered by Twigg's hand on his shoulder. Jack slapped it off and climbed up the gold to stand beside Will and the chest, so he was even with Barboussa.
"Because," He said, "The HMS Dauntless is floating, just off shore, waiting for you."
There were collective murmurs of unease and the hand clasped around my arm loosened; I jerked away and ran up beside Jack. He took my hand almost automatically as him and Barboussa continued to bargain. Barboussa's eyes flickered to our joined hands; He missed nothing.
"Just hear me out, mate." Jack continued. "You send your men out to the Dauntless and they do what they do best." The crowd laughed, "And then, you find yourself with two ships, the making of your own fleet! Of course you'll take the grandest as your flagship, and who's to argue?" Jack's eyes narrowed. "But what of the Pearl? Name me captain and I'll sail under your colors, and I'll give you ten percent of me plunder." Jack smiled serenely. "And you get to introduce yourself as Commodore Barboussa. Hmm?"
Barboussa narrowed his eyes. I could tell he was tempted, but suspicious. "I suppose, in exchange, you want me to not kill the whelp."
Jack shook his head and waves his hands in a no gesture, dropping my fingers. I stayed close to him. "No, by all means, kill the whelp." Jack glanced at me. That was my cue.

We both met Will's eyes. "Just wait for the opportune moment." I said. Will looked quizzical.
Jack swayed a bit, and he took a handful of Aztec gold from the chest, dropping a piece in with each word. Will watched his hand attentively. "For instance," Jack said began. "Wait until you've killed Norrington's men.
"Every..." Click.
"Last..." Click.
"One." Click.
Will and I watched as Jack slipped a coin up his sleeve. Barboussa was watching Jack's face, he didn't notice. But I knew that now, Jack Sparrow was immortal.
Will caught on immediately and straightened up, looking furious. He was a wonderful actor. "You've been planning this!" He spat with disgust at Jack. "Ever since you learned my name! And you've turned Adeena into a pirate!"
Jack nodded his head, a slight smirk present on his lips. "Yeah."
I shrugged and fingered my locket. "I've always been a pirate, Will. I just didn't know it. And that's the truth."
I accented my words just barely, but Will noticed. He narrowed his eyes and jerked a bit in his bonds.
Jack smiled. "Do we have an accord?" He asked Barboussa.
The cursed captain was once again tempted. I could see it in his face, but he wasn't sold.
"Oh! And I'll buy you a hat! A really big one." Jack added, bouncing a bit. Some sliver coins went tumbling down the mountain of valuables. "Commodore?" He stuck out his hand.
Barboussa narrowed his eyes and shook Jack's hand. "Accord." He agreed.
Jack grinned triumphantly and turned to the gathering of pirates. "All hands to the boats!" He called.
Barboussa gave him a look and Jack backed away, stepping back beside me so our arms brushed. My stomach jolted. "Sorry," Jack said. "You give the orders."
Captain Barboussa smiled snidely and faced his crew. "Gents," He said, "Take a walk!"
Jack tensed. That wasn't according to plan. "Not to the boats?" He asked Barboussa.
Barboussa rolled his eyes and smiled enigmatically.
