You amd Vi walk out of the hotel hand in hand. You walk down the street to the little bakery and look around before ordering you and Vi a coffee. You sit at a table and slowly drink your coffee watch prople run through the streets. Kids playing tag with each other and laughing. You finish up your coffee and walk up to Drifts house.
You can see Catalyst and Swift training with each other in the front yard. Catalyst quickly subdues her little brother. He screams in frustration and throws his mask on the ground.
S: You always beat me!
Catalyst laughs and picks his mask up off the ground. And hands it to hin, he takes it off and storms inside slamming the door.
V: He has an attitude dont he.
C: He got my mom's personality.
You walk inside and go to Drifts study room. Hes slumped over a table teading a book and running a hand through his blonde hair.
Y/n: Hey Drift.
D: Hey kids whats going on.
He walks over to the wall and puts the book back and takes a scroll of its podium. He opens it scans through it before putting it back.
D: So Vi ready for more training today?
V: Sure am!
Y/n: What am I doing today?
D: Your heading out with Fade today. Your going to go to the Zero Point with him. Help yourself to the books while you wait for him.
Vi and Drift walk upstairs and you sit down and grab a book off the shelf. You scan through a book about the science of rifts and the mysteries of the Zero Point. You reach a page that shocks you, its filled with pictures of Drift and Brite Bomber together. A road trip from what you can gather.
Y/n: There was an island before this one?
You hear someone walk down the stairs. Its Brite Bomber and she has two drinks in her hands.

Bb: There was an island before this one. It was called Athena.
Brite Bomber sits next to you and hands you a mug.
Bb: It's hot chocolate.
You sit there and drink it and Brite Bomber stares at you. She looks fascinated with you.
Bb: You and Vi remind me of Drift and myself when we were younger.
Y/n: Really?
Bb: Yeah, both from completely different worlds but love each other none the less.
Y/n: Why doesnt Swift have any powers like Catalyst does?
Bb: He does, he just hasn't discovered them yet. Watch this.
Brite Bomber stands up and sets her mug on the table. She begins to glow in a strange purple light and glyphs appear on her skin. Her outfit goes from a bright rainbow like outfit to a dark firey outfit. Her voice warps when she speaks to you.
Bb: I was once corrupted by something called the cube. And he will inherit that corruption.
She goes back to normal and sit down in the chair. Suddenly the house rattles and you hear a large boom. You run upstairs and out of the front door and see a large plume of smoke erupt from Misty Meadows. You hear screams and a roar fills the air.
Drift, Vi, Catalyst, and you run down to the streets of the small town. A large beast stands in the streets. It's pitch black and has white eyes. Its one of perfect shadows pets. Its slams its massive paw on the ground cracking the street and rattling buildings around it.
It charges you and everyone scatters into diffrent dierections. Vi hits it in the side with one of her arrows and it bounces off its thick hide. Drift rushes it and tries to hit it with the rifts edge but the creature seings its huge clubbed tail at him. Drift rifts away at the last second.
The beast roars and heads straight for you. But catalyst quicklt hits it with her lighting, the beast roars in anger and pain and charges up a strange black ball it pulls everyone towards it. And just as your about to be pulled in your mouth. It scretches in pain and falls over. Something cut its stomach open, and you see Kondor standing there. You immediately ready your katana and everyone prepares to attack. He laughs and puts his blades away.

K: I'm not here to fight.
V: We have no reason to trust you.
K: But you do.
D: And just what is that reason.
K: In a few days, the zero point is going to have a dark energy burst and it will power him to a point where he has never been stronger. Hes gonna try and get his revenge on you, Fade, Vi, And
Y/n.
Y/n: Oh yeah and just why should we trust you?
K: Because Im tired of my father. Using me as nothing but a tool. I want him dead as much as you do.
Everyone in the group discusses if you can trust him. But your cut off by the scream of a hawk. You look in the sky and see the same black hawk that dropped you and Vi. And its carrying two people in its huge talons.
D: Shit!
Everyone runs back up to Drifts cabin and its all a mess. Overturned furniture the doors and windows blow out and a stench of evil. Drift falls to the floor as he finds a peice of Brite Bombers shredded clothing on the floor, and a trail of blood droplet heading out of the front door.
Drift runs up stairs and into Swift's room. The room is in the same state as the rest of the house and claw marks line the walls. Drift screams in anger amd you hear footsteps behind you.
K: I know where their at.
Drift snaps around and his eyes blaze with fury. Catalyst walks around the room sobbing out of worry for her little brother.
D: Where are they?
K: Just before my father banished me he spoke of bringing a boy and her mother to the void.
C: Whats the void?
D: the deepest part of the underworld.
K: Thats right, hes gonna strip your wife and your boy of that corruption and take it for himself. And that much energy lost in a short amount of time will kill them.
Y/n: Ok then we need to go get them.
Drift and Kondor look at you and shake their heads. Your hear footsteps coming up the stairs and see Fade in the door way.
F: Whats going on?
V: Perfect Shadow took Drifts Wife and Son to strip them of their power.
Y/n: Why can't we go get them?
K: Kid its not that easy to get into the underworld.
D: We should split into teams. Me, Catalyst and Kondor go to the underworld. Fade, Vi, and Y/n will go to the zero point. So each team gas at least one expirenced fighter on it. Does that sound like a plan?
Everyone nod their head in unison. And everyone gets ready for their own things. Drifts team gets weapons, your team brings special scrolls with you. Vi slingers her bow over her shoulder and puts the crooked claw over the bow.
D: This could get anyone of us killed. But we need to stop Perfect Shadow.
Everyone does the peace amongst clan sign. Even Kondor and everyone heads their respective way to do their own tasks. Vi grips your hands and gives you a nervous smile.
V: This is for Brite Bomber and Swift.
Y/n: And for the entirety of the Oni and Fox clan. We owe it to them not to fail.
You walk with Fade to the zero point not sure of what will happen next.

An Unwilling Monster
In the city of Kholakel, the highlight of the year for the upper classes is the annual monster pacification of the misty woods. Ostensibly it's a culling of the monster population to prevent them encroaching on urban areas, but it's an open secret that it's actually treated as more of a blood sport, the participants competing to score the most kills. After all, why else would the politicians and elites of the city bother to attend personally? Given the intense competition and high-tech weapons and gear in use, one might wonder how the forest has not yet been completely depopulated. As this year's culling approaches, a group of unfortunate children are about to discover the answer first-hand, but thanks to an unexpected twist of fate, one of them will score the chance to play the role of the hunter instead of the prey. This was an attempt at writing something darker than my usual fare. The story I actually ended up with isn't as mean to the MC as I'd originally planned out, to the point that I'm not sure the story deserves the horror/grimdark tags anymore, but this is still an unfair world with unambiguously evil antagonists. Chapters are short to start with, but get longer once the first act is over.

A Castle in a Teacup
One might say that to anger forces beyond the ken of fragile breakable mortals is a bad idea, others might say that meddling in dark forces with little chance of gain is also a bad idea, they would both be right by on all counts but they forget to mention also how incredibly stupid combining both of those things are. Stupid people don’t last so long on the mystic side of things, normal folks who wander over to the other side have a tendency to do one of two things, either A. figure out that the best thing to do is keep their head down and not draw attention from any entity that refers to humanity as “you mortals” , or B. something horrifying happens to them. As you may have guessed I fell into the second category, mostly because I thought there was a third option. See I though there must be an option C, an option where I got to end up not as some shitty back ally wizard cowering at the chance of discovery, praying that one of my wards or spells wouldn’t be noticed by something that goes bump in the night. No I would be the one who rose above all that. I would never have to be afraid. Well I made a good attempt at it that’s for damn sure, but unfortunately for me it turns out there is not an option C. At least not for me…

Magikind [Original]
The third millennia, a time of change and evolution. An era, where people, through countless generations, have evolved strange powers and abilities. Through several centuries of selective breeding, these beings, known as mages, have become part of the very foundations of society. However, some refused to change or adapt. They believed in purity and refused to interbreed with magikind. Known as the manush, they were a rarity among society. Now, in the fifth millennia, the manush are thought extinct. With magikind ruling the world, a three-way war grips society. In these uncertain times, a manush called Gin, will herald a new era for all Magikind. A story of how man could realistically evolve while still pushing boundaries. Disclaimer: Chapters will be edited once the first volume is done. Bear the beginning for the time being, and hopefully you can see my writing improving over time (I've learnt a lot on how to write because of this (though I'm still not perfect :P)) Proud Member of Writers to the End, WriTE The link to the pledged fictions PS. If you find the 'notes' too boring or too info-dumpy, feel free to skip them and just read the main chapters. They're there for the reader to understand Gin's world (written in the perspective of Gin). But later on, we can see some interactions between the main characters and the occasional references to his past in the notes, so it has its purpose.
