《Ancient Wife [ DANMEI MTL ]》37: Do Good Deeds!

"Little man." Mrs. Fang said and glanced around the yard, smiled and praised. "Have you cleared the snow in the yard so early? You are so diligent!"
Liang Han thought for a while, thinking that the woman in front of him was, "Auntie, what's the matter with me?"
"No, it's nothing. I fried some balls in the morning, I thought you were the only man at home, and couldn't cook such delicate food, so I'll bring you some." Fang Shi said, and brought out a shallow porcelain bowl from the bamboo basket, and said with a smile, "Here, it's still warm, it tastes best when it's hot."
Liang Han glanced at the bowl in which the meatballs are placed looks quite full, but in fact there are not many. He really didn't want to have anything to do with this family, but the so-called "smile-free" person, thinking about the character of the original owner, he smiled rudely and took it over. "Thank you, Auntie, I want to eat from your family. It's really not easy."
Fang's face froze for a moment, and then began to cry poor, "Xiaohan, don't blame us. You know the situation of the aunt's family. Xingjia and Xingrong have spent all the savings in the family. Now that Yueyue has reached the age of marriage again, I'm not afraid of your jokes, the family is almost out of food to cook."
Liang Han secretly pouted, he can still eat fried balls without food, who is this deceiving.
"Oh, is that right?" Liang Han said insincerely, "
When Fang Shi was about to say that she also wanted to follow the bean sprouts business, Liang Han did not give her a chance. "Auntie, it's getting late, I have to cook. You should go home and cook, too? I'll go to the backyard to get some firewood, so I won't send you."
Put it in the kitchen, put down the bowl, turn around and go to the backyard firewood to get firewood.
Fang Shi was annoyed when she saw it. She originally brought some balls and wanted to take the opportunity to talk to Liang Han about bean sprouts, but she didn't expect that the other party would not give her a chance to talk about this topic at all.
Some feel distressed about those balls. The fried balls were originally used to visit relatives, and they had not achieved their goals for Liang Han. Fang Shi felt that she had lost a lot.
Although she really wanted to take away the bowl of meatballs in the kitchen while Liang Han went to the backyard, she finally held back, after all, they still expected to do business with Liang Han.
Liang Han came back from the backyard and found that Mr. Fang had left.
He went into the kitchen, took a ball from the bowl and tasted it, and found that the taste was okay. He ate a few himself and gave the rest to Xiao Shi.
More than half a month has passed, and the business of bean sprouts is still stable. Apart from occasional shortages due to the weather, business is not bad.
This day, Liang Qingfeng got up early as usual, and while eating the breakfast that Jiang's family prepared for their father and son, the two talked. "That little beggar still lives at Xiaohan's house, and I don't know what Xiaohan's plan is. ."
Jiang's conjecture, "You said, does Xiaohan want to adopt the child?"
"Adoption? Shouldn't it?" Liang Qingfeng thinks Liang Han will adopt the little beggar?

always feels impossible.
Jiang Shi thought it was possible, "That's not impossible. Didn't he want to marry the son of the Zhang family? They won't have any children in the future. Sooner or later, Xiaohan will adopt a son. Maybe it's because he looks at the child and finds it pleasing to the eye, If you want to accept an heir, it's not necessarily true."
Liang Qingfeng thought about it and felt that what his wife said made sense, but, "Even if you want to accept an heir, you should take it from your own family, how can you accept someone with a foreign surname. I have to talk to him about this. He talks well."
According to the rules here, if you want to adopt a child, you must find someone from the family.
.
Usually people don't adopt a foreign surname, thinking that it is raising a son for someone else.
What's more, it will always be unhappy when one's property falls into the hands of foreigners.
Jiang shi told him. "You can just talk to him. He is such an adult, and it is not easy for us to make decisions for him."
"I know this." But Liang Qingfeng didn't say it.
In fact, he still wanted Liang Han to marry a woman, so that he could continue his bloodline. It's just that Liang Han's reputation is too bad.
He hopes that Liang Han can save more money. Some people don't look at Liang Han's reputation, but they will marry the girl to him if they look at the money.
He thought in his heart that he should tell Liang Han well, save more money, and don't waste the money that he earned.
After eating, Liang Qingfeng went to Liang Han's house with the dry food prepared by his wife.
Liang Han, wrapped in a coat and facing the cold wind, opened the door for them. It feels so hard to get up early every day, and he don't know when to do it.
Liang Qingfeng asked his son to work first, and then dragged Liang Han into the room to talk.
Subconsciously, he asked in a low voice, "Little Han, does that child still live in your house?"
"Yes, he has nowhere to go in this cold weather. I can't drive people away. If something happens, I will also uneasy." Little Stone didn't say he was leaving, and Liang Han didn't chase anyone away, so he just stayed there.
Liang Qingfeng also knew this principle, so he didn't say anything about letting Liang Han send the child away. But some things still have to be asked clearly, "Xiaohan, tell me the truth. Do you want to adopt this child?"
"This... Uncle, why do you ask this?" He really has no plans for it now, children can be raised if they want.
Liang Qingfeng said to him. "Little Han, you are not married yet, so don't rush to accept an heir. This kind of thing has to be discussed with you after the marriage, do you know?"
Liang Han has his own children. This unmarried has raised a child, who wants to marry him.
"Got it." Liang Han hasn't thought about the child yet.
After all, he hasn't married yet, so the child is a little early.
Seeing that Liang Han didn't object, Liang Qingfeng felt relieved. "I know you can't bear to drive this child away, you can keep him, but you can't accept him as a son."
Then he warned, "In the future... if you marry Zhang Qingzhu, we will adopt one among our relatives."

"Well, let's talk about these things after we get married." Whether or not he can marry is still undecided.
Even if he is confident in marrying Zhang Qingzhu, it will take a lot of time. It's not easy to clean up.
Liang Han changed the subject and said with concern, "Uncle, it's quite cold today, so you should turn around less. If you freeze, it's not worth it."
"Okay, I have a clue about this."
After breakfast, today is a rare sunny day.
Liang Han took out all the quilts and cotton clothes to dry, and then dried the cotton harvested two days ago.
Because the seeds are not strong enough and the yield is not very good, after the system is pumped, there are only more than 170 kilograms of cotton left.
Although the number is small, it is enough for him. Decided that after a few days of drying, let someone play some cotton out to make two new quilts.
After drying the things, Liang Han soaked the saponins in a basin of hot water, and after he was done. He shouted in the direction where Xiao Shishi lived. "Little Shi, the water is ready, come out and wash your hair."
Xiao Shishi heard his voice and came out of the room.
When Liang Han saw him, he said to him, "Don't stay in the house all day long, and come out to bask in the sun when the sun is shining."
He put the basin for him, "Can you wash it yourself? If not, I'll help you. "
Little Stone looked in front of the basin, and said, "I'll wash it myself."
After that, Liang Han went to work own business.
Back in the main room, Liang Han took a broom and swept the inner and outer rooms, and then sat on the bench to rest. He checked the situation in the planting space, and it was raining in the space at this time.
After harvesting cotton, he planted rice. He said that he did not panic when he had food at home.
In such an era where grain and cloth were used as hard currencies, he felt that a variety of grains was the best choice. Anyway, there is no way to grow vegetables. He couldn't finish the crops, and he didn't dare to sell them.
The food was still there.
After Xiao Shishi finished washing his hair, Liang Han saw that there was almost no water in the tank at home, so he picked up a pole and a bucket.
He said to Xiao Shi, "You stay at home, I'll go fetch water."
Anyway, no one usually comes into his house, so he doesn't worry about anyone coming.
Because the weather is very good today, many people gathered together to bask in the warmth and chat.
As usual, when they saw Liang Han, they acted like they didn't see it.
When Liang Han went to fetch water, two women happened to be fetching water to wash clothes.
When Liang Han arrived, another woman and Liang Han came to the well.
When the woman saw Liang Han, her eyes were full of hatred.
Liang Han was surprised when he saw it. He didn't do anything.
Why was this woman looking at him full of hatred? The original owner is a bit of a ruffian, but most people in the village do not do anything that people and gods are angry with.
This puzzled him.
The woman left with the water, and Liang Han went to the well full of doubts. The two who were washing clothes started talking while they were fetching water.
"It's really unfortunate for Xiu Niang to stand up for someone like Gaocheng."
"Who said no. Wasn't Gaocheng's leg interrupted by someone? I heard that his family sold food to heal his leg. If his legs are still suffering from the disease, how can such a family live in the future?"
"Hey! Gao Cheng went out to steal, and it would not be a loss if he was beaten. I just feel sorry for Xiu Niang and those children. I heard that the family will soon be able to open the pot. I saw how pitiful their mothers gave her some food, but unfortunately my family doesn't have much surplus food, so I can't help much."
"Alas, who said it wasn't. We've been working hard for a year, so it's good to have enough food. How can I expect to get a few more kilograms of grain." The woman glanced at Liang Han vaguely, and then pointedly said, "In the past, Gaocheng was also an honest and hard-working man, and it is not enough to reach this stage. Did someone else invite him? You should pay close attention to your eldest, don't let him interact with those who are indifferent, lest he not learn well."
The woman pointed at and scolded with a look of contempt, "I'm not the eldest, he most despises those people who are dishonest and always think of crooked ideas."
Liang Han, who drew water, heard the words of the two women clearly, and naturally understood that they were talking about himself.
He frowned, and when he heard Gao Cheng's name Liang Han, he thought of this person.
Gao Cheng was one of Liang Han's friends, but Gao Cheng did bad things just because his family was too poor, plus Gao Song's instigation, and seeing the benefits of the original owner, he couldn't help but follow him.
He just didn't expect that he was caught and broke his leg.
Liang Han understood why the woman looked at him with hatred.
In the eyes of outsiders, Gao Cheng learned from Liang Han if he did not learn well, but in fact Gao Song was the mastermind behind the scenes.
In the past, the original owner didn't care what others said at all.
After all, in the eyes of the original owner, he would not lose a piece of meat after being said a few words, and it was true that he got actual benefits. But now Liang Han wants to explain, but no one will believe him.
After noon, Liang Han originally planned to take a nap, but he couldn't help but think about Gaocheng.
Gao Cheng and the original owner are very good friends, but have no friendship with him.
However, the other party's leg was injured and the family was short of food.
There were so many people in the family, how to survive the period of new food was a problem, not to mention there were four children who were waiting to be fed. It is a problem for the villagers to eat by themselves, and the help to their families is very limited.
Gaocheng would go out to steal or because his family was too poor, because his father died and the family sold some land, and the family seldom had enough to eat.
With more children, the situation is even worse.
After all, he is a friend of the original owner. If he doesn't ask about it, the people in the village don't know what it will be like. He still wants to wash his hands and marry his wife.
After thinking about it, Liang Han carried a sack of grain, brought some eggs and brown sugar, and walked to Gaocheng's house.
Doing good deeds should be regarded as accumulating virtue.
Gaocheng's family lives in the west end of the village, and Fang Xiuniang was worried about not having anything to cook while other homes were making a fire to cook.
Seeing the children screaming at her for hunger, she couldn't help but secretly wipe her tears.
She could only boil some water that could reflect the silhouette of the people and let them drink some to suppress their hunger.
After drinking a bowl of noodle soup, San'er rubbed his stomach and asked, "Mother, I'm still hungry. Don't we have any cakes at home? We haven't made cakes for many days. I want to eat cakes."
"Don't talk nonsense."
San'er pursed his mouth, he was hungry and didn't talk nonsense.
Fang Xiuniang looked at the four children and felt bitter. The days are still long, how will her children live? Thinking of her unhealthy mother-in-law and her husband in bed, if it wasn't for the children, she would not be able to live.
When Liang Han came, the Gaocheng family was discussing from whom to borrow some food to eat. It's just that the neighbors are all afraid of being borrowed by them.
At this time, everyone's households didn't have much food, and they were all calculating to eat, and there was no extra food to lend them. The pressure of not being able to survive made their family breathless.
Standing at the gate, Liang Han knocked on the door and found that no one seemed to hear it.
Because the door was open, Liang Han went directly into the yard. "Gaocheng. I am Liang Han."
"What is he here to do, is he here to harm our family again!" Fang Xiuniang was holding back her grievance, when she heard it was Liang Han, immediately got up in anger, eager to get a kitchen knife and chop people up.
Seeing his daughter-in-law's reaction, Gao Cheng hurriedly stopped her, "Xiuniang! What are you doing?"
Fang Xiuniang's eyes were red with anger. "What am I doing? It's not all his fault that our family has become like this! He still has the face to come to you! "
"I can't blame him for this. Liang Han didn't force me to go, it was me..." Besides, Liang Han didn't go with him at all when he was beaten this time.
It was himself who wanted to steal something to help his family survive the winter, but he didn't expect that he would be caught by accident, causing the family to suffer miserably.
"You said that you don't blame him. If you didn't hang out with him, would you not learn?" How could their family survive this winter? Pity her several children followed to live together.
Gao Cheng's face was full of sorrow, "I said, I can't blame others for this. It's my own greed and not learning well, and I can only blame myself for getting to this point. Don't talk about it, let's see what he's doing to me."
Gao Cheng raised his voice. He replied, "Liang Han, I'm in the back room, come in."
Liang Han was originally standing in the yard, but Fang Xiuniang's voice was not deliberately suppressed, so he could hear it clearly.
He didn't feel that he was sorry for Gao Cheng, even if it was the original owner, if Gao Cheng was determined, they couldn't force him to not learn well.
He came because he felt that the family was pitiful, the original owner also had a little responsibility, and he also wanted to cleanse himself, so he came with food.
Fang Xiuniang was very tired of Liang Han and didn't want to see him, so she took the children to another room.
Liang Han entered the house and saw Gao Cheng lying on the bed with vicissitudes of life.
From the situation, he knew that the family was indeed living very badly.
However, he was not familiar with Gaocheng, so he didn't plan to stay for a long time.
After a few greetings, he said, "I have been staying at home for a while, and I only found out what happened to you today. I heard that your family is short of food, so I sent it to you. Come here."
Gao Cheng had noticed the bag long ago, and he was very grateful to hear Liang Han say that it was the grain, "Thank you very much, to tell you the truth, the family really can't stand it anymore. Don't worry, I will get new grain next year. I will definitely pay it back."
Liang Han did not easily say he would not let him pay back, "Let's talk about it later. You take good care of your body first, and I have something to do at home, I will go back first."
"Okay, slow down on the road." Wait for Liang After Han left, Gao Cheng hurriedly shouted, "Mother Leizi, come here quickly."
There was joy in his voice. These grains seemed to weigh more than 100 catties.
Fang Xiuniang heard her husband's voice and thought something was wrong, so she hurried to the room to check the situation, and was surprised to see the bag. "This..."
Gao Cheng's voice was a lot lighter, "It was brought to us by Liang Han. I just said well, even though Liang Han is a bit sloppy, he is still very loyal."
In fact, since he was injured, he has never seen Liang Han come to the door, and he still has grievances against Liang Han in his heart.
After all, they are friends anyway, but they don't care if they have an accident. Especially when he heard that the other party had a profitable business, he would feel a little bit complaining in his heart.
Fang Xiuniang really didn't expect Liang Han to give things to her home so generously. She stepped forward and looked at it, and found that there were ten eggs and a packet of brown sugar, and his resentment towards Liang Han was somewhat relieved.

Trial of Champions
It all began with a family trip to an amusement park. How were any of us to expect being transported from Earth to participate in some "Trial of Champions," whatever that was supposed to be? Given only an hour to choose the Classes that would come to define our strengths, we were almost immediately torn away from one another and thrust into a deadly game of survival. It wasn't all bad, though, as terrifying as it could be from time to time. The supernatural and magical powers of the Classes were like something out of an RPG, complete with leveling up by killing monsters and completing so-called "Sub-Trials." And despite the juicy Experience to be gained from killing other Champion Contestants, not all of the participants were bloodthirsty murderers; some could be allied with, or even befriended. Even if it seemed like everyone who had been chosen for this Trial, no matter what universe they came from, was at least a little bit crazy. I would survive this till the end, and I'd make sure that my siblings and parents did as well, no matter how many times we were separated from one another. No matter how long it took. No matter what I had to do. --- A first-person litRPG incorporating classes inspired by D&D and other sources. If you like blue boxes but don't need to have huge lists of numbers to scratch your itch, you should be satisfied on that front. Each chapter is, in my word processing document, seven pages long (approximately 3300-3900 words). The Traumatizing Content warning is there because of discussions of certain topics. Nothing that I think deserves the warning actually happens in the story.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
