《The Love That Define Us {Completed}》Can I be him?

Radiant smile on her face, her small giggles, now and then, interrupting me, my all attention was focused on her.
Oh shit did see me glancing at her? No! Wait she is returning my gaze, and she still has that beautiful smile on her face. That's a good sign, she is interested! Right?
"Yo Davies! Where are you lost, Man??" Tanner nudged my shoulder.
"Eh nowhere man, I am gonna be back in a min okay." I excused myself.
I stood up and walked to her table, she was sitting with a friend or sister not Sure? She didn't notice me walking toward her, suddenly she stood up and shuffled through her purse without looking in it, and took out a cane, unfolded it, and started to walk out of the food court, along with her friend.
"She's blind! Damn it I was about to make fool out of myself for no reason!!!" I hissed to myself.
"Buddy, are you okay?" Tanner tapped on my back.
"I just remembered something, I am going to my old house, and I am taking my bike, if you want to come along?" I asked.
"No mate, I am going with Ethan to this club near The Italian restaurant." He replied shaking his head.
"Ok, sounds good, have fun!" I waved to him and headed towards the parking area.
I roared the engine, driving thru mall exit, and merged to highway. My mind was filled with her images. The blind girl, no no! The beautiful girl. Her mere thought made me smile, what If I wasn't being such a coward, then maybe I would have known her name, and may be her number. But there's no use, this province is so big to find her again, without her name. Or address.
We would meet again if we are meant to be.
After one and half hr drive, i entered through the small street, it's been more than two months since I came here, nothing changed here, same people sitting by the sidewalk, intoxicated. Some are sleeping, eating and just laying on the thin sheets covered in not so warm clothes but still managing. People in bc consider this street dangerous, though they could be right, but I lived here for 10 years.. until I went to University. I find this street sketchy rather than dangerous. That might be one of the reason I moved out from here.

Out of nowhere, I saw someone hiding behind the trash can. I parked my bike at the side, and walked in that direction, with caution.
Small Fabric, was still showing, as the person was barely hiding,.
"Hello?"
The person jump at my sudden approach.
My eyes widened in shock when I noticed the same girl, I have seen in the mall.
"You?!" I said in shock.
"You know me?" She frowned.
"No-I mean-no I just thought you for someone else."
"What are you doing here, especially at this hr?" I asked her.
She started crying, hysterically.
"Umm how did you end up here?" I asked her still confused.
"M-my sister-in law, and I were on shopping to this mall, then we went to parking lot, the car tire was flat, so we took the bus, she might be busy talking on phone with her husband, and she kind of forgot about me? I ended up stopping at a wrong stop." She paused, wiping her tears with her scarf.
"I tried to ask people to help me, but some-someone snatched my purse and I left my cane somewhere, I couldn't navigate anything.—so I bumped into this lady, she tried to—I ran without caring, where I was going.i am so afraid." She started to cry.
I knelt down to her level, she shifted, when I touched her foot, she was bleeding.
"Don't be afraid, I am not gonna hurt you. I will take to your house, but first we need to take care of this wound." I said, reassuringly.
"Okay, Thank you." She murmured softly.
My house was few steps away, so I picked her up in my arms, her petite body, which by the way, was the perfect fit in my arm.
Small world. Here we meet again!
I placed her on a sofa, and hurried to bring the first aid. I placed her foot on to my knee, and wiped it. Bandaging it securely, she was still weeping.
"Do you need some water?" I asked.
She didn't noticed me saying, I went to the kitchen cupboard and took a glass, filled it with normal water.
"Here." I said.
Without saying anything she gulped it, quickly and handed me the empty glass.
"So...what's your name?"
"Diya.."

"Well hello Diya," her name was foreign to me but it felt I knew it, like I knew her.
"I am Davies Lucas. Can you tell me where do your family lives? or perhaps any phone number?" I asked.
She looked deep in her thoughts. "I don't remember any phone number.But-" She paused like She was trying to remember something. "My husband, Anuraag is the CEO of Angihotri company!" She stated.
"You are married?" I asked hesitantly, raising my eyebrow.
"Yes-I got married almost a month ago."
I gulped, hard. This gotta be some kind of sick joke! god is playing games!
"So, are you going to call him?" She asked solemnly.
"Of course, hold on—let me just.." I said hiding my frustrations.
I searched him online, found out she was right. He is some CEO, but I couldn't find a picture of them together on his feed. After stalking him for awhile I finally found his office number.
"Hello?"
"Hi, this is Mr, Anuraag Angnihotri's assistant, Lina. How may I help you?" She said in a professional tone.
"Hi, Lina, this doctor Davies Lucas speaking, I would like to talk, Mr Agnihotri, urgently."
"Of course sir, hold on for a min." She said.
I waited a min or so, the line was now connected to him.
"Hello, this is Anuraag" his voice sounded like he was tensed.
"Mr. Anuraag, I called to inform you, that your wife, Diya, is safe. I will send you my location, please come and take her."
"Oh! I am on my way, thank you so much sir." He said before disconnecting the call.
"He's coming Diya." I forcibly smiled.
"Thank you so much Davies." She said meaning it.
"So how long you've been in Canada?—If you don't mind me asking." I asked curiously.
"It's been a month."
"Figures!" I said way to fast.
"Pardon me?" She said, confused by my reply.
"I mean—you wears Indian cloths, which looks beautiful, and it kind of reminds me, my days in India also, not that it matters" I chuckled nervously.
She frowned, tears were dried on her cheeks, she doesn't seem to enjoy our chat.
"You are from India?" She asked after a pause.
"Yes why? don't I look like one?"
"I don't know about the "Look", as I can't see, obviously, but you don't sound like one." She Emphasized.
"Yeah, people often tell me that, especially my Indian friends, I was born here, my mom is Indian and my dad is Canadian." I replied.
She rubbed her hand and arm, she looked cold. "Do you need a blanket?" I asked.
"No, I will be fine, thank you." She said.
"If you say so...are you hungry?"
"When will Anuraag come?" She said ignoring my question.
"May be in an hr or something? That entirely depends on how far he's from here."
Her eyes were focused blankly on something, as she was clearly thinking about something. I noticed tears on her cheek, which was not there earlier.
"Are you okay?" I asked again as she was zoned out.
Suddenly the bell rang.
"That must be Anuraag!" She said.
I walked towards the door, and opened it.
A man, stood in-front me, wearing most expensive black suit and dress pants, the coat hung on his arm, while his light-blue shirt's sleeves were rolled up to his arm,his eyes were filled with worry.
"Where is she?" He asked.
"Inside, please come." I gestured with my hand.
He followed me, he stopped when he
noticed her.
"Diya." He smiled.
She stood up, from where she was seating. She moved abruptly, before she could stumble, he caught her by her waist, her hand tightened on his shirt.
"Anuraag, I was so scared." She sobbed, nestling in his chest. "I am sorry, baby. I should have come with you earlier," he said, cupping her cheek while kissing her forehead, softly.
They seemed so in love with each other, god, how can I be so pathetic to fall for someone who's already in love, and married to her lover?! But in somewhere how I wished—can I be him!??

Paladin
When the first derelict alien spacecraft fell to Earth, humanity took what was found in it and propelled themselves to new heights. In their new Golden Age, humanity developed technology that they had only dreamed about. The following years saw hundreds more ships crash into the planet, spurring even greater technological leaps. An unassuming spacecraft, one of the dozens that fell yearly, descended on Siberia in 2021. The world took no particular notice of it. However, this one contained something beyond the miraculous technology that had made humans so prosperous. Three years later, in a top-secret underground facility in eastern Colorado, the automated construction of an army of Paladin Mobile Infantry Suits was underway. With this new, state-of-the-art weaponry, the military would turn the tide against the alien incursion that was consuming the planet. Humanity fell before that could happen. Sam was an engineer responsible for overseeing the facility. Now alone, he lives in utter boredom and near insanity, his only company the base’s pseudo AI and an army of empty Paladins. With the world gone to hell around him, and the things that caused it still living above, he decides that he is much better off staying exactly where he is. Unfortunately for him, that is no longer an option. This is the first novel I've written. The first fifteen or so chapters are going to be a little slower. I want there to be time to get to know the characters before they start blowing stuff up. Also, though the MC will be strong relative to the world, he won't be OP, and won't win every fight. Not every fight will be physical either. Currently, I'm aiming for something like 5 fairly short chapters a week, after the introduction part is done, but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for reading, and please let me know if I've made mistakes!
