"Would you just listen to me?"

He looks away. Pleading does no good anymore, I don't know how to make him see me.

"Please, just look at me."

"I don't even know what I did," I'm trying not to cry but damnit, it's too hard.

It's like I was already drowning and he tied me to an anchor.

I don't even see it until it hits me, grains of salt against my eyes. I feel the scratches before I register anything else.

"Fuck!" its not even a conscious sound. I can't even think about the words coming out of my mouth.

"You're blind enough already. What harm is this?"

And then I hear the door close.

The water clears, and my eyes are still burning. But I can see the door, the lock turned. And his car is gone.
